A camouflage shortage in the Marine Corps will lead to service members wearing less regulated uniforms in the near future. In an Instagram video, Commandant Gen. Eric Smith addressed service members’ concerns over an inability to find and purchase woodland-patterned "cammies" in an ongoing manufacturing shortage. He announced that as the problem continues, local members will be allowed to wear alternate uniforms contrary to Marine standards. Border Patrol agents caught three illegal immigrants wearing ghillie suits meant to help them blend into the New Mexico desert, the federal agency reported last week. The trio, after being caught, is seen wearing so-called ghillie suits in photos posted to the Border Patrol’s social media accounts. Ghillie suits are often used by hunters to blend in with the outdoors.

A Congressional committee voted Wednesday to end service-specific camouflage in an amendment that would push the military toward creating joint combat uniforms by 2018. House Armed Service Committee members want the Pentagon to develop a joint combat uniform over the next five years. Moving to one joint combat uniform doesn't mean there would only be one camouflage pattern. Different patterns could still be designed for specific geographic requirements such as the woodland or desert patterns. However, each service would not design their versions. The amendment restricts the creation of any further camouflage patterns for combat uniforms unless the intention...

The San Diego Padres unveiled their new camouflage jerseys on Tuesday and there's already some speculation that the team's attention to detail might prove to be a little too effective in 2011. Two Sir Guy Carleton Secondary School students put their school in lockdown yesterday after they showed up wearing camouflage clothing and gas masks. A resident saw the students walking down Centrepointe Dr. and called police, said school board spokeswoman Hyacinth Haddad.
