NOTE: I have never told the Hillary campaign that I am not a Democrat. I am on their email list and received the invitation you see below. So, I went. It is good to see what the enemy is doing. Here is their playbook for training people called "Hillstars" in California. They are going to use it across the country. The book is not copyrighted. I never signed a non-disclosure document. HERE IS A SCAN OF THEIR PLAYBOOK. It is a brilliant strategy. I have been warning you that her organization is like nothing ever before seen. These cockroaches have...

Today: October 04, 2006 at 11:10:13 PDT DNA May Implicate Malibu Stars' Toilets By NOAKI SCHWARTZ ASSOCIATED PRESS MALIBU, Calif. (AP) - Just whose waste is fouling the most star-studded stretch of the Southern California coast? Los Angeles County officials intend to find out, and if the evidence leads back to the toilets of some of Hollywood's rich and famous, the sewage could really hit the fan. "This is going to get messy," predicts Mark Pestrella, the public works official assigned to the project. Environmentalists and health officials suspect Malibu homeowners' leaky septic tanks are allowing what gets flushed down...

Over the past decade and a half, U.S. District Court Judge Thelton Henderson has become the one of the most important figures in the state in setting prison policy, or at least trying to change it. Henderson's rulings have placed the judge firmly in control over issues ranging from use of force at Pelican Bay State Prison to internal discipline to improving medical care. They've also put him in position to direct billions in state spending into the correctional system -- with no legislative oversight. The 72-year-old judge's career has just been chronicled in Abby Ginzberg's documentary, "Soul of Justice:...

Cynics are right: Hercules' old-fashioned new neighborhoods are downright unreal. The houses are too pristine, the landscaping too prim. They're modeled along the lines of a bungalow-filled village of yore, yet the result looks like a pastel launching pad for commuters. No matter. I'll root for a David clad in Ralph Lauren over a bottom-line Wal-Mart Goliath any day.

After accusing Secretary of State nominee Condoleezza Rice of trafficking in "falsehoods" during hearings last week before the Sen. Foreign Relations Committee, Sen. Barbara Boxer is the new hero of the Howard Dean-Michael Moore wing of the Democratic Party. However it appears that Boxer may have indulged in a few falsehoods of her own while questioning Dr. Rice. To justify her tough grilling, the Golden State Democrat repeatedly invoked war casualties from her home state, saying they amounted to 25 percent of the 1,400 GI's killed in the fighting. But after checking with the website Casualties.org, OpinionJournal.com says that's not...

<p>San Jose became the first city in California to recognize same-sex marriages performed elsewhere, although the decision only applies to municipal workers.</p>
<p>The city council defied objections from conservatives and voted 8-1 Tuesday to pass a motion that could provide more comprehensive health and retirement benefits to partners and family members of gay and lesbian city workers who get married in San Francisco or other cities that allow same-sex marriages.</p>

<p>While it may appear spontaneous, Mayor Gavin Newsom's leap onto the national stage has been a controlled performance from the get-go -- complete with story line, image control and attention to detail aimed far beyond the San Francisco audience.</p>
<p>From the minute Newsom lifted the curtain with his call for gay marriage licenses, to his cross-continental debate with President Bush, Team Newsom has done its best to manage the image coming out of City Hall.</p>

By ROBYN MOORMEISTERSentinel staff writer This high school teacher doesn’t think the U.S. government is playing with a full deck. So she’s printed up her own decks in an effort to prove it. Available locally, the ‘‘Operation: Hidden Agenda" playing cards are Kathy Eder’s answer to the U.S. military’s distribution of its most wanted list card collection — the Bush administration’s unique and portable list of 55 wanted former Iraqi government officials. Eder’s cards are a little different than George W.’s. There are pictures of U.S. government officials, like the four of spades featuring Central Command Commander in Chief Tommy...

<p>Hordes of quivering GOP lawmakers and vast throngs of proudly homophobic right-wing Christian Americans fell into an adorable tizzy the other day as the entire really, really big country of Canada announced it will change its law to allow full-on homosexual marriage anywhere in the whole country including Vancouver and Toronto and even "that weird province with all the gay French people."</p>

Actor Tim Robbins has been given some good news after weeks of being attacked for waving peace signs at the Oscars - he's to be honored by UCLA. Robbins and partner Susan Sarandon were blasted by right-wingers for their anti-war stance at the Academy Awards last month - leading to an honor at the Baseball Hall of Fame to be scrapped earlier this month. But now UCLA scholars have stepped up to recognize former student Robbins and bestow the Alumnus of the Year Award on him. UCLA theatre professor Gary Gardner says, "Tim reflects who we are and what we...

LOS ANGELES -- A day after signing a students' petition labeling the war in Iraq "unjust," Mayor James Hahn backtracked and said he doesn't believe the conflict is unjust after all. "Yesterday I signed a petition prepared and presented to me by sixth graders at Florence Nightingale Middle School," Hahn said in a statement Tuesday. "I regret that I did not read it word for word before I signed. "I do not agree that this is an 'unjust' war. This is the time to support our troops and pray for their swift and safe return." Area veterans had criticized the...

Has CMJ Become the Monster That Ate College Radio? Thousands of underground radio stations like KALX rely on indie chartmaker CMJ to publish playlists accurately. So imagine their surprise when it began falsely stacking college charts with its own pay-to-play releases. BY KATY ST. CLAIR At a UC Berkeley that seems to reinvent itself every ten years with new waves of lefties, evangelical Christians, scheming Republicans, and geeks, one thing has always remained constant: The campus radio station, KALX. The station has been documenting the underground since its inception in 1962 when it began in a cigar box -- yes,...
