"The main point I wanted to make is that most journalists and news talking heads don’t know shit about weapons, period."

Don't be so quick to paint with a broad brush, FRiend. I'm a reporter (radio). I also happen to be a veteran (19D Cav Scout), a Christian, a Conservative, a gun owner, a hunter, an avid shooter, and a red-blooded, rock ribbed, to the death American patriot. Yeah, most of my colleagues know little to nothing about weapons, but there are a few of us out here that do.

When the "fun" starts, I'm gonna have a target on my back, I know.

"The only difference is that the AR 15 can have a 30 shot clip magazine. The .22 can only hold up to 15 Long Rounds at best."

Yes, there is a big difference between a clip and a magazine...anyone familiar with firearms knows the difference.

I guess you're also not too familiar with the Ruger 10/22...I have a couple of 25-rounders for mine, and they make 50 and 110 round drums for it.

Also, the Brits did just fine with their semi-auto only L1A1 SLR. Granted, in the Falklands, many Tommies ditched their L1A1s and picked up surrendered Argentine select fire FALs, but keep in mind, that came only after the battles, which the Brits won with their semi-auto L1A1s. So yes, you can successfully assault an objective with semi-auto rifles.

Bullshi'ite. If the market calls for cars that are still driven by people, that's what the market will produce. The only way it won't is if the government mandates driverless cars, and that means We The Sheeple will have pussed out and surrendered to Mother Government yet again. IOW, the only way it would happen is if we let it happen.

I have yet to hear anyone in the media mention the would-be massacre at the New Life Church in Colorado Springs, back in 2007. An alert, armed security guard named Jeanne Assam, heard shooting in the parking lot, and shot the murderer DRT as he came in.

Matthew Murray was armed with at least one semi-auto rifle and hundreds of rounds of ammo, and was likely headed to the sanctuary, where hundreds of people were attending services at the time. He murdered four people -- two in the parking lot at the New Life Church, and two earlier in Arvada, at the Youth With a Mission Church. Had it not been for Assam, and "just one gun", the outcome would have been much, much different.

That incident inspired me, along with two other shootings that turned out much, much differently, to write this song.

"They don’t have “mass-shootings” over there."

Maybe not Poland, but there are 10 European nations that have more people killed in "mass shootings" than the USA.

    Crime Prevention Research Center

The biggest difference between mass shootings in the USA and in Europe is that here, the shooters generally use semi-auto rifles and pistols. In Europe they use illegal, fully-automatic weapons. Remember the shooting at the camp in Norway, the Charlie Hebdo shooting, the Paris concert hall shootings? All done with full-auto weapons.

Don't buy into the lie that it's worse here than anywhere else in the world. We're better than much of Europe, and that's not even getting into the uncivilized world...Central and South America, Africa, parts of Asia (remember the massacre not to long ago of tourists at a resort in the Philippines?), etc. Better yet, when you hear some loony Leftist a-hole trying to spread their bullshi'ite vomit, hit 'em with the facts. Someone who can be won over to the truth is sure to be listening.

I have to admit, I've never seen 100-round box mags. I used to own a 40, and almost bought a 60-rounder, but the sales guy waved me off. Still, I would no sooner have one of those in my rifle than I'd spend the $150 or whatever to buy one. That thing looks like several misfires just waiting to happen.

"Let me edit your post down to what's relevant..."

The only reason my post is irrelevant (to you) is that your mind's made up. You don't want to be confused with the facts. So, not that you're going to read any of this, but here we go...

Oh gee...look at that pic. Isn't it so tacti-cool?

I'll concede that I've never seen those...not 100 rounders, anyway. 60 rounders, yes...in fact the sales guy at Sportsman's Warehouse advised me not to buy one -- not sure what brand -- when they came out a couple of years ago. The spring pressure is too high, he said, which causes feed problems. Just like with 40s, Betas, anything greater than standard 30-round mags. Again, there's a reason the Army doesn't use anything bigger than 30s. But you didn't know that, did you?

What makes you say Sure-Fire is a reputable brand? I've never heard of them until just now. So I'm supposed to just take your word for it?

Other than my Beta, which is gathering dust in the garage, I use surplus mags for my AR...mostly Colts. I have a couple of MagPuls, too. But for the most part, I can't afford $100+ magazines...especially when that would buy 7-10 surplus mags.

"Pardon my colloquial term "stick mag" when referring to a magazine which is mostly straight, with just a slight curve."

Well, again, if you knew what you were talking about in the first place, you'd know there are "stick" magazines, there are "box" magazines, and there are "drums". Calling those in the picture "stick" magazines is like calling a mountain bike a race bike. So I'm more inclined to believe your mistake was from ignorance, not colloquialism.

"Main point is that the in-gun magazine is clearly long enough, and (at least to me) clearly flares to triple-column width just below the magazine well."

"In gun magazine"? Again, you don't know what you're talking about. There are "in gun magazines", but they're called "internal" magazines...like in most bolt-action hunting rifles, the old 1903 Springfield, the Mauser, etc. But those are part of the rifle itself, and not removable like a box magazine.

You keep trying to sound like you know what you're talking about, but clearly, you don't. I don't claim to be a firearms expert, just a guy who shoots...and who fired all kinds of automatic weapons over 11 years in the Army. But dang, Bubba...do a Google search or two next time!

So let's revisit the point I made -- but you obviously glossed over -- about reliability. Sure, that tacti-cool 100-round magazine will probably hold 100 .223 rounds. But the pressure on the spring is going to be so great, it will cause misfeeds. Misfeeds have to be cleared, which takes a few seconds. The audio we heard clearly demonstrates multiple sustained bursts with no pauses to clear misfeeds, change mags, change rifles, whatever. Given what I know about the unreliability of 40-rounders and my Beta mag, I don't believe for a nanosecond that gee whiz, tacti-cool Sure Fire 100 rounder would function reliably enough to fire a sustained burst that long. But...a belt-fed machinegun could, and did that night. It sounded like a PKM, not that you would know what those are.

"Let me edit your post down to what's relevant - you know, without rants about obviously irrelevant products, removal of personal invective predicated on assumption of error rather than resolution of differing over objective facts, etc:"

Wow...that was beautiful. You must be a lawyer. Maybe a college professor. You have a very advanced vocabulary...one that truly baffles the hell out of a simple country boy like me. Kinda makes me think you're using great big words to cover up for your lack of knowledge...

But let me edit your post down to what's relevant. The only relevant thing you've said is what you've not said...namely, why are you so willing to not question what you're being told by the government, and their media lapdogs? Hmmmmmm? With so much riding on how this situation shakes out, you seem to be perfectly willing to be docile and compliant, like a sheep. I dunno...maybe you're a government or DU troll, in here to try to convince the other sheep to pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. But I would have thought that, given how long you've been on FReep, and what all has transpired since 2000, you'd be a little more skeptical (if not outright cynical) about what you're told by those who have shown time and time again they're not to be trusted.

    Enjoy your FEMA camp, Bubba.

True, true. But Zero Hedge, Chicks on the Right, Faith Family America, etc, habitually link to other sites, throw in a paragraph or two of opinion, and claim that work as their own. Even worse, they'll post screen caps of a Twitter post, ala Twitchy, and call it reporting.
