SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Two green Adopt-A-Highway signs reading "American Nazi Party" have popped up on a rural road a few miles from downtown, and it's got people upset with the county for agreeing to put up the signs and worried about their neighborhood. "I know we live in a free world. But that's not part of freedom, anything to do with the Nazis," said Barbara Hamblin, a 64-year-old who lives in a mobile home park just down the road from one of the signs. "They had to have been off their rocker," she said. The two signs were erected...

In the wake of a heartbreaking defeat, Democrats have made no attempt to reinvigorate their party’s spirit or commitment to its cause, instead choosing to commiserate over their failings with any sympathetic passerby who appears willing to lend an ear. Consider Emory’s Democrats a microcosm of this dysfunction. Offered editorial space in the Wheel, recent contributors chose to rant against the Republicans’ perceived pandemic ignorance, sensationalism and reckless use of the good vs. evil polemic with — yes, indeed — their own brand of ignorance, sensationalism and use of that much-feared good vs. evil polemic. Recent articles cite the Republican...

I'm pleased to announce that today's FReep of the leftists in the heart of downtown Atlanta was a complete success! In spite of the rain and extremely heavy traffic which kept some from attending, and made yours truly about 45 minutes late to the FReep, we definitely made ourselves heard. All in all, we had about 10 Freepers, Protest Warriors, and College Republicans from Emory University present for today's action! Unfortunately, our camerawoman was stuck in traffic due to torrential rain in the Marietta area, and was unable to attend, so I regret that we have no pictures. :( One...

Operation: Little Five A joint operation of Free Republic, ProtestWarrior, and the Emory University College Republicans All FReepers and lurkers in good standing welcome. The great state of Georgia is now a focal point of liberal anger, partially due to the brave stance taken by Senator Zell Miller against his party's veer toward the far left. The AJC op/ed columnists, led by the vitriolic Cynthia Tucker, have spewed little aside from filthy lies against our President and our troops in this pre-election period. And now, the peacenik neo-commies over at GeorgiaPeace.org have decided they're going to hold weekly rallies in...

FNC reporter Trace Gallagher just announced something at around 10:30am Eastern time that, if we can further expose, could deal a devastating blow to the Kerry campaign. We all know that Kerry's been going on and on about his plans to 'roll back' (Liberal-speak for "raise taxes") the Bush tax cuts for those grossing $200k/year. However, according to FNC (and johnkerry.com), apparently new penalties would begin to be assessed at the $147,500/year mark! Gallagher stated that the first penalty, which hits when you make $147,501 in one year, would be $2800. If we can find this buried in Lurch Kerry's...

CORAOPOLIS, Pa. Oct. 14, 2004 — Lynn Cheney accused Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry of pulling a "cheap and tawdry political trick," apparently for invoking her daughter's sexuality in his debate with President Bush. Asked Wednesday night whether homosexuality is a choice, Kerry noted that one of Vice President Dick Cheney's daughters is a lesbian, and said she would probably affirm that she was born that way. "We're all God's children," Kerry said during the debate in Tempe, Ariz. Mrs. Cheney made clear she thought Kerry had crossed a line into family privacy when she introduced her husband to a...

In response to an ultimatum issued by Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin, the Druid Hills Golf Club is in the process of rethinking their membership policies for unmarried couples. Currently, the club, which is located on Clifton Road, does not afford domestic partners the same benefits as married couples, including access to membership inheritance and club entry. On Oct. 1, Franklin’s deadline, Druid Hills requested until Oct. 15 to “finalize language” in their membership policies, said Randy Delaney, general manager of the golf club. The club, which has ties to Emory, has faced criticism for its alleged discrimination against same-sex couples....

Okay, here's the deal. I'm trying to install an older build of Windows XP Professional over top of the one I have, since I currently have (for whatever reason) a build of WinXP containing the PREVIEW version of Service Pack 2. My Preview Version of SP2 is, for whatever, reason, unable to be uninstalled. Also, for whatever reason, Windows XP will not allow me to install an older build of the OS without booting from CD. However, when I try to boot from CD to install, WinXP setup cannot recognize my hard drive. It is a "HDS72251" 160GB SATA hard...

KARACHI, Pakistan (AP) - Paramilitary police killed a suspected top al-Qaida operative Sunday in a four-hour gunbattle at a house in southern Pakistan that also led to the arrest of two other men, the information minister said. Amjad Hussain Farooqi had been wanted for his alleged role in the kidnapping and beheading of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in 2002 and two assassination attempts against President Gen. Pervez Musharraf in December 2003. "I as chief spokesman for the government of Pakistan confirm that our forces have killed Amjad Hussain Farooqi," Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed told The Associated Press...

As former President Jimmy Carter walked into the Woodruff P.E. Center Wednesday evening, Emory students and faculty gave him a standing ovation. Carter donned Emory colors for the occasion: a blue and gold tie, white striped shirt and blue suit. More than 1,200 students, faculty and staff filled the WoodPEC gym. James W. Dooley, the eternal spirit of Emory, arrived shortly after Carter, his wife Rosalynn, University President James W. Wagner, Vice President for Campus Life John Ford and Student Government Association President Jimin Kim. During his speech, Carter called the war in Iraq one of the most “gross and...

September 16, 2004Rather Pathetic So, Gunga Dan strikes again. On 60 Minutes II, Dan Rather went on the air and finally admitted that there are some 'legitimate questions' about the memos forgeries in regards to President (then First Lieutenant) Bush's service in the Texas Air National Guard. To paraphrase, Rather essentially stated that while challengers to the story have indeed disputed the legitimacy of the memos (typed on Microsoft's brand new Word 1973), nobody has dared challenge the substance of the memos, namely that Bush was a child of privilege who got into the Guard unfairly, and did not meet...

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, that's right. I said it. The Associated Press has lost any and all shreds of credibility as anything other than a mouthpiece for the floundering Kerry-Edwards campaign. The verbal battle over who really controls the mainstream media is now officially declared over, as the Associated Press has done us conservatives the favor of leaving us without even the shadow of a doubt.
