California Gov. Gavin Newsom is receiving support from one of the state's communist leaders, who said on Friday that residents should reject the ongoing recall effort in order to prevent one of former President Trump's "clones" governing the state.

While fielding questions as part of a radio program, North Dakota GOP Senator Kevin Cramer called 14-year Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt a “criminal,” and said he’s “grateful” for the Capitol Police Officer who killed the unarmed January 6th protestor for “not complying” with his orders from the other side of a barricaded door.

Many economists have rightly argued the main reason there are so many open jobs available today is that there are now too many COVID-related relief programs. These provide such substantial unemployment benefits to nondisabled workers they actually discourage the seeking of employment. Further, economists across the political spectrum — including Larry Summers, who served as director of the National Economic Council under President Barack Obama — have said that government and central bank programs are causing inflation and that additional spending could lead to an even greater, potentially catastrophic inflation spike. Rather than pursue policies to reduce inflation and encourage...

A mother has revealed her son’s last words as he succumbed to coronavirus. Curt Carpenter, 28, believed the pandemic was not real and his entire family was hesitant about getting vaccinated. That was until Curt, his younger sister Cayla, and mother Christy all contracted the virus in early March. Initially their symptoms were mild, but their oxygen levels dropped and both Curt and Christy were admitted to hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, where they developed pneumonia. Curt’s lung collapsed, his oxygen levels fluctuated and his organs began shutting down before he died on May 2. Nearly three months on, Christy has...

Nearly all COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. now are in people who weren’t vaccinated, a staggering demonstration of how effective the shots have been and an indication that deaths per day — now down to under 300 — could be practically zero if everyone eligible got the vaccine.

A California man who mocked Covid-19 vaccines on social media has died after a month-long battle with the virus. Stephen Harmon, a member of the Hillsong megachurch, had been a vocal opponent of vaccines, making a series of jokes about not having the vaccine. "Got 99 problems but a vax ain't one," the 34-year-old tweeted to his 7,000 followers in June. He was treated for pneumonia and Covid-19 in a hospital outside Los Angeles, where he died on Wednesday.

Amber English won the third gold of the Games for the US shooting team, who back home have joined forces with an ultra-conservative college Amber English won the women’s skeet gold medal on Monday and Vincent Hancock triumphed in the men’s event, a day after Will Shaner was victorious in the men’s 10-metre air rifle. All set Olympic record scores. The US is indeed the all-time medal leader, with roughly as many gold medals as the next three countries (China, Russia and Italy) combined. But Ginny Thrasher’s first-day success in the 10-metre air rifle was the US’s only shooting gold...

In the name of Black gun owners, a coalition of progressive attorneys has thrown its weight behind an explosive attempt to eviscerate gun regulations. Last week, the gun group got a major assist from criminal defense attorneys. Specifically, the Bronx Defenders, the Brooklyn Defender Services, and the Black Attorneys of Legal Aid. All of these groups represent indigent people accused of criminal conduct, who are often Black or Latinx citizens living in densely populated urban environments. The lawyers joined together to file an amicus brief supporting the position of the mostly upstate and rural interests of the Rifle & Pistol...

OSAGE BEACH, Mo.—The petite blonde bartender in ripped jean shorts bounced to each side of a square-shaped bar as women in bikinis and shirtless men lined up on a sweltering afternoon to order Bud Light, vodka and soda, and piles of nachos at this dockside retreat in the Lake of the Ozarks region. In a county designated a Covid hot spot, in a state with one of the lowest vaccination rates in the nation, and in a region where hospitals are nearing capacity as the Delta variant takes hold, Erin, a bartender at Backwater Jack’s, couldn’t be in a more...

Motherboard spoke to economists and historians about why fast food and retail workers around the country are suddenly quitting en masse. Something remarkable is happening in fast food establishments, retail stores, and restaurants across America. You may have seen photos of it go viral. You may have even experienced it in real life if you've dined at a Chili's or Applebee's and the hostess apologizes for extra-long wait times. “WE ALL QUIT, SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE,” disgruntled employees posted in giant letters on a sign outside a Burger King in Lincoln, Nebraska earlier this month.

Democrats are about the pass the most draconian gun control legislation since 1968 GCA. Modern rifles are going to be highly restricted, if not abolished. Elections have consequences; The powerless have no rights; and telling a judge "I shall not comply" is not going to keep you out of prison. So hide that AR and get a lever action short rifle for defense.

I was at a bar in Chehalis, WA where the conversation was very anti-capitalist. The bartender stated that he was pro-communist. I mentioned the fall of the Berlin Wall and he replied that capitalism was going to fall too. This guy is looking at the current recession as a vindication. The bar owner then jumped in to say that capitalism was everything wrong with the country and that things need to change. I pointed out that being a business owner makes her a capitalist. She then said that politics should not be discussed in a bar and ended the discussion....

Berlin - An international legal team filed a criminal complaint in Germany on Tuesday against US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and other top US officials over the Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse scandal in Iraq. The New York-based Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) and Berlin's Republican Lawyers' Association said they and five Iraqi citizens mistreated by US soldiers were seeking a probe by German federal prosecutors of leading US policymakers. They said they had chosen Germany because of its Code of Crimes Against International Law, introduced in 2002, which grants German courts universal jurisdiction in cases involving war crimes or crimes...

It's the Cities, Stupid. There are two maps on this page. The one at the top should be familiar. It's one of those red-state/blue-state maps that have been tormenting Democrats, liberals, and progressives since November of 2000. Over the 36 days that George W. Bush and Al Gore fought for the White House in Florida, "red" and "blue" became metaphors for America's divided electorate. Red vs. Blue--Democrat vs. Republican; liberal vs. conservative; pro-life vs. pro-choice; gun-huggers vs. gun-haters; gay-huggers vs. gay-haters. The red-state/blue-state map opposite shows the results of 2004's presidential election--red states won by George W. Bush, blue states...
