Today I have the honor of announcing the passing of TheRightGuy, aka Jeff S of Arlington Heights, IL (73 years old). Jeff leaves behind a son, a loving wife Laurie of 24 years, and many others. TheRightGuy was an integral part of the Chicago Chapter of FreeRepublic, his enthusiasm for activism, wry sense of humor, and love of country was something to behold. I can still hear his voice and his laughter, even though it's been years since we were in person together. Jeff epitomized conservative activism, he loved FreeRepublic, attending national conferences and chapter events because he believed that...

More than 1 million voted in Senate Democratic primary, providing a measure of party’s energy WASHINGTON—The 2018 fight for control of Congress began Tuesday, as Texas Democrats flooded the polls for the year’s first primary election and showed that the national wave of Democratic enthusiasm will buffet even traditionally Republican states. Statewide turnout in the Senate Democratic primary race provided a measure of the party’s energy: More than 1 million voted in the primary, almost double the number in 2014. But Democrats still lagged behind the 1.5 million who voted in the GOP Senate primary.

The left has upped the stakes in its guerilla operations against Republicans, as deep-pocketed groups fund protesters to show up to the offices and even houses of congressmen to protest their lack of "town hall" meetings. ------- Local chapters of a left-wing group called “Indivisible” helped organize and lead those two protests. ------- ...in which left-wing groups throw their first punch by rounding up activists and training them to be as disruptive as possible during representatives’ town halls. ------- when lawmakers stop holding those events, the groups throw their second punch by protesting at their homes. ------- While local chapters...

Today, a few individuals from the Chicagoland Chapter of the FR Network stood toe-to-toe with the Leftists from ANSWER, and they heard our answer. In attendence was ChiTown-Chief;justshutupandtakeit;jamesnwu;Bismarck; {one other}, plus we pulled in at least one person (hope she chimes in). The day started when I arrived at 10:45a to find no one recognizable on location. I walked around a bit and looked upon the 100+ Cook County Sheriffs in full battle gear. Then I noticed a group of individuals unloading 8' tall signs. When I walked over I knew they were from ProtestWarrior.com, and oh boy where they....

Look out, Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Ted Nugent might want to put you in a political stranglehold Speaking from an airport in Minneapolis Tuesday, the singer and guitar player - known nearly as well for his pro-gun views as for such tunes as "Cat Scratch Fever" and "The Great White Buffalo" - said he would like to meet the governor backstage prior to his Aug. 11 performance at the Illinois State Fair. "I welcome him," Nugent said. "In fact, you know what? I challenge him to come backstage. And let's talk 'We the people,' let's talk good over evil, let's talk...

It has been a good long while since I've had a sit-down with the U.S. Constitution, but if my junior high school memories serve me correctly, I don't recall the Bill of Rights guaranteeing free speech only to those who espouse one particular opinion. Yet that seems to be the disturbing interpretation preferred by those encouraging a backlash against some celebrities who have been outspoken opponents of the U.S.-led war against Iraq.... A `black' list? A conservative Web site has published a list of more than 100 actors, musicians and filmmakers who, it claims, "use their celebrity status to push...

Today, several members of the Chicagoland Chapter, 3 to be exact, showed up to deny the Anti-Bush protestors there limelight. In attendance was justshutupandtakeit, TheRightGuy, and myself. We were joined by a UofC student who heard of the rally through school, and another gentleman who was disgusted at the display of hatred for our country. The crowd was somewhere between 400-600, not all students. There were several 'fiery' speeches by persons I do not know, nor could I understand everything they said, especially during the introductions. I did hear tidbits of the speeches, things that are unrepeatable here because of...

The Chicagoland Chapter had a successful Anti-antiwar protest in the Lincolnwood area of North Chicago. Attendees were Chicagolady, GRRRRR, Chi-Town Chief, BillyBoy, RedWing9, justshutupandtakeit and son. BillyBoy, Chicagolady and myself arrived at the corner of Western and Devon around 12:15. GRRRRR and Chi-Town Chief had already laid claim to the corner flying the American Flag and egging-on the 'Saddam Fan Club' of 'Useful Idiots.' justhshutupandtakeit and his son came soon after that, yelling comments from across the street like 'We love Saddam'. We were located about 4 blocks west of the protest gathering but right along their planned march. Their...

We will take our battle to the leftist A.N.S.W.E.R./NION crowd and keep them from spewing their lying propaganda. We ask that all who can travel to the Chicago area come join us. Our interest is in a peaceful protest of those who think that Saddam deserves more time, even after 12 years and 11 UN resolutions. We will form our line of truth at the corner of Devon and Western, only blocks away...

These are the same folks who destroyed downtown Seattle, wreaked havoc in Genoa, and the same in D.C. They are anarchists bent on destroying capitalism. I'd like to know who is willing and prepared to take them on in Chicago? anti-TABD Event site here Story at Chicago Tribune here

The U.S. Senate has sent a campaign-finance reform bill to President Bush. The president has promised to sign it, even though he acknowledges that it is "flawed." Flawed? You bet it is. So flawed that if the president followed his instincts, he would veto this legislation. This is incumbent-protection legislation that steps all over free-speech rights. That's how flawed it is. For starters, it has a curious bit of timing. It will be signed now so members of Congress can spend the entire 2002 campaign patting themselves on the back for "reforming" the system. But they won't have to live...
