They’ll probably put inspection stations prior to entering Chicago to see if you are smuggling soda in the city.
MONEY, it is all about the MONEY, Cook County needs the taxes to pay the union pensions that prior politicos have mortgaged the FUTURE that is NOW! Bonds that got floated that cannot paper over the gaping cracks when the Fed drives interest rates to ZERO for Zero!
Lots of the Chicago wealthy are looking at what makes them year-round citizens and making sure that they live in the county for less than 183 days! Thus these smaller taxes on individual items. Big Brother is just trying to keep you healthy, these are only ‘sin taxes’ you know! Don’t blame us for the debts that our DEMOCRAT PREDECESSORS saddled us with.
What a scam, what a nightmare!
Toni Preckwinkle also wants to empty the county jail because it is racist to lock up criminal suspects and the detainees do not want to post bail. It is a stupid policy, but Preckwinkle wants to spend the $143.00 inmate per diem elsewhere.
BTW Former NYC Michael Bloomberg was pushing the tax on soft drinks too. He bought television time for commercials.
Like Mr. Bloomberg, Mr. Prickwrinkle want’s to continue the advancement of the nanny state.
Preckwinkle? Is that a real name or a character from Harry Potter?
I’m having a good time and then this piece of garbage Prickwankle comes and pees in my mouth.
That’s a $1.44 more for a 12 pack of pop.
I hate to say this but I hope Prickwankle and her minions all get cancer.
Crook county board couldn’t go 5 minutes after the election without trying to rain on my parade, new pop tax. 1 cent an ounce. AFTER the election, of course.
AFTER it passed I saw an ad for it paid for by Bloomberg.
Another tax? Bullsh*t.
Bloomberg’s another one that needs “special” treatment. Just can’t STFU.
I’m glad that I retired from the navy. I can drive to the Great Lakes exchange and buy groceries where they don’t charge any taxes.
there have been several ballot referendums for northwest cook to seccede and form its own county -- i hope one day it passes.
I’m in Lake County. Let me know if you need me to go on a soda run for you. ;-)
