"We're all outside the building," says Ibrahim Hooper, CAIR's National Communications Director. The only exception: the several staffers who remain quarantined inside the building on New Jersey Avenue SE. D.C. Fire has responded to the scene with hazmat gear. "We receive threats on almost a daily basis, so it's nothing new for us," says Hooper. "But a suspicious substance—that's new. We don't normally publicize threats to ourselves but when you have to evacuate, it's a little different."

One person was seriously injured in a shooting Monday night at a Clayton State University student apartment building. The shooting at the Clayton Station Apartments happened shortly after 8 p.m. in the 3000 building of the Clayton Station Apartments, university spokeswoman Maritza E. Ferreira said in a statement. The victim is not a student, but is believed to be the relative of a student, Ferreira said. Police were still searching for the suspect Monday nigth, she added.

Wayne Simmons has been arrested after a federal grand jury indicted him on "charges of major fraud against the United States, wire fraud, and making false statements to the government," including allegedly falsely claiming he worked for the CIA. Donald Trump said early Friday morning that CNBC has agreed to a two-hour presidential debate, as he and Ben Carson had demanded.
