Interesting Exchange at the Grocery Store | March 16, 2020 | Michael T. Archangel
Today my wife and I went to the local H.E.B. grocery store to purchase some things we needed. The shelves in the store were largely empty. There was a young couple shopping who were complaining about the empty shelves. Each of them was wearing a Bernie Sanders for President tee shirt. I walked up to them and said, "Are you feeling the Bern?" They stared blankly. I then said, "Welcome to the Havana H.E.B." The continued to stare blankly at me so I continued, "This is what grocery store look like under socialist and communist regimes."

The U.S. government is operating under a Continuing Resolution (CR) that expires on December 3. Congress must do something to keep the government operating after that date... Politico said the Democrats "have only themselves to blame ... after failing to pass a budget this year or any of the dozen annual appropriations" bills. Apparently anticipating that an omnibus bill cannot be passed, the White House wants a year-long CR according to Politico, because a short-term CR would mean that the budget would have to be taken up again early next year when Republicans have control of the House giving them...

As a Congressman, I don't mind being heckled, booed, shouted down or called a Nazi. It comes with the territory. What I found troubling about the forum at UMass was that many of my constituents who came with meaningful questions and concerns about the legislation were also insulted and prevented from speaking. If the writers of the editorial, "Healthy anger: (Telegram & Gazette, Aug. 7) truly believe that that kind of behavior is healthy, perhaps I should refer them to Section 114 of the bill, which address mental health-care services.

My wife, a physician for more than 30 years, just got off the phone with AARP (which should be called CRAP for its support of Obama's health care grab). She gave the woman who said the phone was ringing off the hook today with members canceling out because of the organization's support for Managed Death Noncare. It took my wife more than 15 minutes on hold to cancel. I urge anyone who is a member of AARP to cancel the membership and to tell them why they are canceling.

Bill Clinton pulled Barack Obama aside at one of the Inaugural Balls. He slipped the newly inaugurated president three envelopes marked 1, 2, and 3 and whispered, "Barry, when you get into trouble the first time, open the envelope marked 1 and follow its instruction. The second time you get into trouble...and you will get into trouble...open envelope 2 and follow its instructions. And the third time, well then, you will only have envelope 3."Barack Obama immediately turned the economic problems into an economic disaster. So he opened envelope 1 and read, "Blame Bush. After all, most Democrats hate him...
