Apt description!
"Very disturbing..."
However, apparently not disturbing to the parents who took their little children to see those images, unblurred and in person. Of all the "disturbing" pictures from that parade, the most disturbing was of the little girl toddler viewing something (not shown in the picture) that caused her to react with her tiny hand covering her open-mouthed astonishment at what she was seeing. Her little twin was watching her sister while taking a swig of water from her sippy cup.
"...I cant see us reversing course at this stage."
What we think and do makes a difference. Repentance, along with the resulting blessings, is possible as long as we have breath. It begins with each of us. Whether or not enough people are willing to heed the admonition and promise of 2 Chronicles 7:14 is the question.
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
I'm reminded of a hymn we sometimes sing in church:
Who Will Follow Jesus
Who will follow Jesus,
Standing for the right,
Holding up His banner
In the thickest fight?
Listning for His orders,
Ready to obey,
Who will follow Jesus,
Serving Him today?
Refrain
Who will follow Jesus?
Who will make reply,
I am on the Lords side;
Master, here am I?
Who will follow Jesus?
Who will make reply,
I am on the Lords side;
Master, here am I?
Who will follow Jesus,
In lifes busy ways,
Working for the Master,
Giving Him the praise;
Earnest in His vineyard,
Honoring His laws,
Faithful to His counsel,
Watchful for His cause?
Refrain
Who will follow Jesus
When the tempter charms?
Fleeing then, for safety,
To the Saviors arms;
Trusting in His mercy,
Trusting in His powr,
Seeking fresh renewals
Of His grace each hour?
Refrain
Who will follow Jesus,
In His work of love,
Leading others to Him,
Lifting prayers above?
Courage, faithful servant!
In His Word we see,
On our side forever
Will this Savior be.
Refrain
Many believe it. Too few live it. Right won't prevail, if we who believe won't stand.
