Okay, folks. You all know me as a jokester a lot of the time, but I have some major, serious-as-a-heart-attack questions I need to ponder. I need help, badly.

I love my mom, but she gets all her news from the MSM, and sometimes me. It drives me bonkers! She's not a stupid woman or even particularly moonbat, but it just goes to show that biased reporting has a big effect. She was telling me that the president is "uncaring" and seemingly "unempathetic" to people. Of course, I know he visits Walter Reed and other military hospitals often, and meets regularly with the families affected by 9-11 and the greater WOT. What the hell did BJ Clinton do in similar circumstances? I want to show her the difference between...

The HRSC on ESA's Mars Express obtained this perspective view on 2 February 2005 during orbit 1343 with a ground resolution of approximately 15 metres per pixel. It shows an unnamed impact crater located on Vastitas Borealis, a broad plain that covers much of Mars's far northern latitudes, at approximately 70.5° North and 103° East. The crater is 35 kilometres wide and has a maximum depth of approximately 2 kilometres beneath the crater rim. The circular patch of bright material located at the centre of the crater is residual water ice. The colours are very close to natural, but the...

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- A U.S. Air Force U-2 spy plane has crashed in southwest Asia while returning to its base, killing the pilot, the military said Wednesday. The cause of Tuesday night's crash was under investigation, U.S. Central Command said in a statement. One official said the location of the crash was not released because "host nation sensitivities" were involved. The Central Command's statement used the term "southwest Asia," which can be used as a substitute for describing the Middle East. The pilot was returning to a base from a mission in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. One...

I was unavoidably detained and unable to watch pretty much all of the debate, but I heard something that bothered me. From what I understand, the candidates were supposed to go to their podiums without cheatsheets and whatnot. A family member said they distinctly remember watching Kerry take something out of his pocket and place it on the podium, and looked at it often during the debate. Did he bring a PDA or cheatsheet-thingie, against the rules?

I'm considering giving a DVD of this as a child's gift, but I was wondering about the content of the film. Anybody have information/opinions they wish to share? Thanks.

The respected science journal Nature posed 15 questions to President George W. Bush and Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry on key science issues. On some the two agreed, but on others, they were pole opposites. Bush's remarks went 30 percent over the length limit and so were edited by Nature editors. Kerry's answers were within the limit and so are printed in their entirety.

Anybody got some good links showing information on the Pentagon attack? I want to refute a video I saw about "there was no plane" nonsense. Thanks.

Any Houstonians in the Southeast part of town step outside tonight? It smells NASTY. I know, I know, smelling up the news sounds funny, but you would have to smell it. I've lived in houston 30 of my 35 years, and about ten of those down here in the Clear Lake/Pasadena area, and I know what stenches can issue from the chem plants. I've never smelled THIS - it's almost like someone detonated a city-sized rotten mango down here! Really, it has me concerned. It literally took my breath away. Does anyone know what it might be?

ALTHOUGH ONLY one has received any attention so far, there are in fact two important NASA anniversaries this summer. The first was the 35th anniversary of the first moon landing, which was greeted with appropriate nostalgia last week. Next month marks the first anniversary of the publication of the Columbia Accident Investigation Board's assessment of the space shuttle disaster. That 248-page document identified both the physical causes of the Columbia explosion and "systemic flaws" within the U.S. space program. By this, the board meant not only problems within NASA itself, but the contradictory attitudes of those in Congress and the...

I am trying to run a couple of message boards on Yahoo!Groups, and I'm getting highly frustrated with the whole thing. The Groups section just keeps dropping off, and so I have no access. Does anybody here know of a free or cheap software I can get and load onto my personal ISP webspace? My ISP stays up pretty reliably, so I figure if I can set something up there, I'd be better off. Thanks, Y'all.
