I'm nostalgic today for the first time I realized that FreeRepublic and JimRob represent a real political force. Had to drive regularly past the vice-presidential mansion after the November 2000 election, wondered the first time what all those people were doing standing on the sidewalk outside. The next time, they were still there. And a week after that. Chanting. Shouting. "Get out! Get out! Get out of Cheney's house!" Couldn't stop or help because of work but always honked for you awesome few. Now I'm just anxious and want to join everyone there tomorrow until January 20, "get out! get...

Financially, how do you get money to TEA Party organizations? I get tons of emails soliciting donations and want to give money (ok, after tax season I want to give money, right now I just want to weep), but I have no way of knowing if they are legitimate. Does anyone have a list of responsible local, regional, national TEA organizations?

I've been praying a lot for the last few days. I'm angry and disappointed in the people of this nation for ignoring the danger of an irresponsible and unethical press, for ignoring the danger of socialism, for ignoring all the warning signs surrounding Obama as an extraordinary danger to this country. I'm most angry because a bunch of historically ignorant, infantile, puerile, and adolescent democrats took something I love dearly -- my country, my America -- and broke it last night. In my prayers, when I can push aside the hate and the anger long enough to actually listen to...

A Canadian man and a three-metre, 585-kilogramme Kodiak bear will face off on 9 December, in an attempt to test a handmade, purportedly bear-proof suit. The suit and its maker, Troy Hurtubise of North Bay, Ontario, won a 1998 Ig Nobel prize for Safety and Engineering and an entry in the 2002 Guinness Book of World Records for the most expensive research suit ever constructed. Fifteen years of tinkering and US$100,000 have gone into the design, which incorporates plastic, rubber, chainmail, galvanised steel, titanium - and thousands of metres of duct tape. The suit has proven itself to be virtually ...
  • Court of Appeals Rules Against Concealed Carry??

I have just received a phone call from a friend in Michigan who has been watching the Court of Appeals on the case involving the referendum on the CCW act. He reports that the Court of Appeals ruled late last night that the CCW law is subject to a referendum and consequently cannot become effective until passed by Michigan voters in November 2002. I've searched AP and other news sources, but haven't found anything yet, so there's a slim chance he's wrong. Confirmation would be appreciated. My quickly vanishing joy over the prospect of moving to the occupied territory of ...

To all Michigan Freepers: I've got to make a decision on a dream job offer in Michigan by tomorrow that I just got. I know Michigan just passed CCW, but what about registration? First, if you have a Michigan CCW, do you still have to register all your pistols in Michigan? Second, do you have to register long guns? Any help will be a real lifesaver. Thanks,FATC
  • The Thief Who Sued His Victim

The thief who sued his victim 17nov00 A MAN who broke into a house and attacked the home owner when he was discovered has launched a civil action against his victim for compensation. Shane Colburn has been previously convicted for the break-in but he claims he is still suffering "emotionally and physically" after the robbery he committed in July 1997 and is now seeking $40,000 in damages. The 26-year-old claims Peter Vucetic and Giavanna Grah "over-reacted" when they discovered him inside their Schofields home on July 6, 1997. In the civil action, launched at Penrith Local Court, Colburn also alleges ...
