Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday spoke at a Fatah assembly in Gaza, commemoration 13 years since arch-terrorist and Palestine Liberation Organization leader Yasser Arafat died. In his speech, broadcast on television, Abbas said "no one" cares more about Gaza's people than he does, and promised that there would be "no [Palestinian] state without Gaza, or a state only in Gaza." However, he also said the PA would support a "one-state solution" with "full equality of rights for all its citizens" if the two-state solution proved impossible. It is not clear what a "one-state" solution means...

The lead song in the mix is revealing, as well as the titles of the later selections, which I haven't listened through, but the titles are enough. Woody Guthrie, it seems, knew all about Trump even though he died while Donald was in knee pants.

Peace Now’s latest ad features Yigal Amir and Yona Avrushmi, who assassinated other Jews on political grounds, and several other Jews who attacked Arabs over the years. The Left’s claim is that the violence always comes from the Right, while its people don’t use violence - certainly not that which is extreme and murderous. The simple response to this claim is: Correct! Why should the Left use violence? After all, the war here is between Muslim Arabs and Jews. All that the Left has to do in order for Jews to be harmed is to weaken Jewish defenses. To give...

Feeling helpless hearing the news of yet another mass shooting, this time in a church in a small town in Texas. Name wasn't Islamic, so my guess is either a plain old fashioned lunatic, or a snowflake in meltdown. Which ever. This is all I can do about it, start a memorial song thread for people to contribute to. Theme is Texas, cowboys, oil wells, whatever Texas means to you, or Baptist hymns, if that's what you want. Songs are best, but poems, anecdotes, whatever moves you. I grabbed one of the best again, with the song Giant.

The Knesset's Ministerial Committee for Legislation is expected to approve on Sunday a law canceling the expulsion from northern Samaria communities destroyed as part of the 2005 “Disengagement” from Gaza. The law, proposed by Coalition Chairman David Bitan (Likud) and MK Shuli Moalem-Refaeli (Jewish Home) and supported by Samaria Regional Council Head Yossi Dagan, aims to allow Jews freedom of movement in the areas of northern Samaria evacuated in 2005. Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked (Jewish Home) said she intends to pass the law. A few weeks ago, Bitan confirmed Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu had given the proposal his approval....

Glamour Magazine announced its decision to rank Linda Sarsour one of its ten "2017 Women of the Year" awardees. All of the awardees, Glamour claimed, are "game changers, rule breakers, and trailblazers." Sarsour, an Arab-American anti-Israel activist, misrepresented a Political Action Commitee (PAC) as a fund for Hurricane Harvey relief. Critics accuse her of trying to exploit the hurricane that devastated the region for political aims. In August, she tweeted, "Donate to the Harvey Hurricane relief fund." The fund's website stated that "your donation is vital to ensuring that we have the resources we need to organize and fight for...

Breaking with the stance of other Western countries, Israel decided on Monday not to express an official opinion on the issue of Catalan independence in the meantime, NRG reported. According to the report, Spain asked Israel over the weekend to publicly declare that it does not support Catalan independence, as part of Spain’s efforts to garner international consensus on the matter. Israel’s ambivalence is a departure from the opposition to Catalan independence declared by the EU and US. On Friday, US State Dept. spokeswoman Heather Nauert said in a statement that “Catalonia is an integral part of Spain, and the...

Syria said on Friday that a United Nations report accusing it of using sarin gas in an attack on the town of Khan Sheikhun in April was a "falsification of the truth", AFP reports. The report, seen by AFP on Thursday, says that President Bashar Al-Assad's regime is responsible for the April 4 attack in which sarin gas projectiles were fired into Khan Sheikhun, a rebel-held town in the Idlib province of northwestern Syria. More than 87 people were killed in the attack, which was not the first time that sarin had been used during the civil war in Syria....

In recent weeks, some 130 Israeli companies and another 60 international corporations have received letters from the current UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Jordan’s Prince Zeid bin Ra’ad Zeid al-Hussein, warning them that they are being “blacklisted” for “acting contrary to international law and UN decisions." According to Yediot Aharonot, the list in question includes well-known Israeli companies spanning different sectors, from food to services, pharmaceuticals to hi-tech. All of them, however, have one thing in common: They operate in Judea and Samaria, eastern Jerusalem, or the Jordan Valley. Yediot Aharonot reported that the companies are currently considering taking...

"Niger is @realDonaldTrump's Benghazi. He needs to own it," the Florida Democrat tweeted. Wilson and Trump have traded barbs for nearly a week on the controversy stemming from the President's condolence call to Myeshia Johnson, the widow of Sgt. La David Johnson, one of the soldiers killed in the...

HAZARD, Ky. (AP) — A coalition of left-leaning states and environmental groups are vowing to fight the Trump administration's move to kill an Obama-era effort to limit carbon emissions from coal-fired power plants. Speaking Monday in the coal-mining state of Kentucky, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt said he would be issuing a new set of rules overriding the Clean Power Plan, the centerpiece of President Barack Obama's drive to curb global climate change. "The war on coal is over," Pruitt declared, adding that no federal agency should ever use its authority to "declare war on any sector of our...
