In light of the first domestic transmission of Ebola Zaire, I thought it would be useful to compare Ebola Zaire with a well-known viral disease that hits American communities every year: Norovirus. People keep comparing Ebola to influenza, which is an apples to broccoli comparison. Ebola Zaire and norovirus have the same transmission profile (at least based upon the CDC's claims of Ebola transmission vectors, which are publicly admitted to be incomplete)so the best comparison of the spread of Ebola in the US to any other viral pathogen is norovirus. According to the CDC: CDC About Norovirus: TransmissionNorovirus is a...

From lounging on the FL coast to running the Iditarod trail in 16 days, 16 hours, 48 minutes: where'd I leave my boots? Danny Seavey For those of you who don't know, I'm not racing dogs this winter. My wife, daughters, and I left Alaska last fall and have been touring the East Coast, starting in Maine and moving south as the weather gets colder. I woke up in Pensacola, Florida this morning, am currently wearing flip flops, have as much of a tan as I ever have and a pocket full of Allikz's seashells. I think I've adapted quite...

I haven't felt an earthquake in decades but just experienced a small one here in SC. My grandparents in Elgin, over 70 miles away, also felt and heard it. I haven't seen any news about it yet, but it couldn't have been much more than a 3.0. Two winter storms and an earthquake in less than 10 days. Hmmmm.

Obamacare created a database, the Health Claims Data Warehouse (HCDW), into which all health care claims submitted for exchange members, Medicare/Medicaid/FEP/CHIP members and PCIP members will be uploaded, stored, and queried. Explained as a way to provide statistical analysis of health care expenditures, the database contains and allows queries to retrieve the following information:

Fight over public's right to know intensifies as lawyers disagree about record lawSANFORD, Fla. - As controversy over the $200,000 George Zimmerman raised on PayPal took center stage Friday, Special Prosecutor Angela Corey's decision to ignore legal questions raised over whether she's obeying Florida's public record law went largely unnoticed. But the issue of whether Corey has the legal right to continue preventing the public from seeing the evidence she says proves Zimmerman committed the second degree murder of Trayvon Martin seems to be coming to a head. The special prosecutor's office on Friday refused to make that evidence public...

Watch the video. The story doesn't mention the characteristics of the mob members. Wonder why not? Mpls. Police Ponder 8 P.M. Curfew After Youth Mob AttacksThere have been six mob attacks, in all, since February. Now, police are now wondering if an 8 o’clock curfew keeping anyone 17 and under from two downtown streets will stop the violence. Nicollet Mall is a destination for many. Outdoor patios where drinks and food are served are a draw not only to people who live here, but also tourist. Since February, when the sun goes down, later in the evening, mobs of teens...

Many say the Inner Harbor is becoming dangerous as the "Occupy Baltimore" crowd grows restless. Our cameras caught evidence of drug use at their campsite. One woman says she was raped over the weekend and no one from the group tried to help her. Now, the woman who once stood in solidarity with the group wants Baltimore officials to break up the crowd, like other cities have.

Can't C&P, sorry. Turns out, the Occupiers are just DNC operatives, though some don't know that. Check it out!

Anyone know where to download the Solyndra emails referenced in so many news stories? I'd love to see them for my self but cannot find a link. I've tried the Energy & Commerce Committee website, and have Binged it, but no luck.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama on Friday scrapped his administration's controversial plans to tighten smog rules, bowing to the demands of congressional Republicans and some business leaders. Obama overruled the Environmental Protection Agency — and the unanimous opinion of its independent panel of scientific advisers — and directed administrator Lisa Jackson to withdraw the proposed regulation to reduce concentrations of ground-level ozone, smog's main ingredient. The decision rests in part on reducing regulatory burdens and uncertainty for businesses at a time of rampant uncertainty about an unsteady economy.

Obama is the shepherd I did not want. He leadeth me Beside the still factories. He restoreth my faith in the Republican party. He guideth me in the path of unemployment For his party's sake. Yea, Though I walk through the valley of the bread line, I shall fear no hunger, for his bailouts are with me. He has Anointed my income with taxes, My expenses runneth over. Surely, poverty and hard living will follow me all the days of my life, And I will live in a mortgaged home forever.

Anyone know if William Windels was one of the medical people handing out fake doctor notes at the union thugfest in Madison? Turns out the woman who wrote the threats via email to the senators in WI, Katherine Windels, is the adopted daughter of one William A Windels, LPN, who works in Madison and is a graduate of UW-Madison, the same school that sent the docs into the protest. http://registry.adoption.com/records/554354.htmlhttp://wi-madison.doctors.at/dr/william-windels-williamandrewwindelsapnphttp://www.linkedin.com/pub/william-windels/27/398/357Anyone have a list of the docs who were there to compare?

Just heard from my son. The 3d Med BN is on a ship heading to the disaster zone. He doesn't know exactly where they're going to be working. Please pray for Josh and all other soldiers heading that way.

I am seriously confused by the mass hysteria building over the possible exposure to small amounts of I-131 in the US. I have experience with hyperthyroidism. One of the tests performed on me was a thyroid Radioactive Iodine Uptake test and scan performed with a dose of I-123 (though I-131 may also be used.) I took the pill in the morning, went to work as usual, no issues. It was kind of strange having a geiger machine pointed at my neck and knees, but it wasn't a big deal at all. I cooked, slept in my bed, went to work,...

Bwahahahahahahaha--love it! ******************* A "Black Widow" suicide bomber planned a terrorist attack in central Moscow on New Year's Eve but was killed when an unexpected text message set off her bomb too early, according to Russian security sources. The unnamed woman, who is thought to be part of the same group that struck Moscow's Domodedovo airport on Monday, intended to detonate a suicide belt near Red Square on New Year's Eve in an attack that could have killed hundreds. Security sources believe a message from her mobile phone operator wishing her a happy new year received just hours before the...

Let’s play the liberals’ game for a moment and say yes, the strident political culture seeped into Loughner’s psyche and caused him to commit murder. By that same logic, the attacks on our culture from the rot in Hollywood seeps into our culture and results in parentless children, sexual aberrations and general rot. Liberals have admitted defeat in the culture wars! Of course the entire premise is ridiculous but what an opening.

Watching web coverage, looks like John Spratt is going to fall to a conservative. Mulvaney is wiping the floor with him. Spratt was supposed to be unbeatable. Having a great time tonight!
