In an attempt to link members of the Saudi royal family to the financing of Al Qaeda, lawyers for Sept. 11 families and their insurers have collected several hundred thousand pages of interview transcripts, government reports, financial records, court testimony and other material. Four of the documents, not entered in the court record but provided to the New York Times, are shown here. Lawyers for the Saudi royal family deny any connection to the financing of Al Qaeda and say the links claimed by the Sept. 11 families are tenuous and misleading. The Supreme Court is expected to decide this...

Early this morning, IDF Naval Forces boarded six ships attempting to break the maritime closure of the Gaza Strip. This happened after numerous warnings from Israel and the Israeli Navy that were issued prior to the action. The Israel Navy requested the ships to redirect toward Ashdod where they would be able to unload their aid supplies which would then be transferred over land after undergoing security inspections.

Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh will not seek re-election this year, a decision that hands Republicans a prime pickup opportunity in the middle of the country. "After all these years, my passion for service to my fellow citizens is undiminished, but my desire to do so by serving in Congress has waned," Bayh will say.

Captain Phil Harris suffered a stroke yesterday at St. Paul Island in Alaska. He was medivacked to Anchorage and is currently at a hospital receiving treatment. For the past two years I've been working on the Google Earth Outreach team, aimed at helping non-profits and public benefit groups use Google Earth and Google Maps to further their cause. In that time I've worked on so many cool projects, from training indigenous communities in Brazil on the use of internet and mapping technologies, to helping with Google's disaster response mapping efforts for the San Diego fires and Cyclone Nargis, to even working with NASA get a copy of Google Earth on the International Space Station (more on that later!). I'm also in charge of the Global...

After hearing about Barack Obama’s ties to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, Fr. Michael Pfleger, and the militant activists of ACORN (the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now), it should be clear to everyone that his extremist roots run deep. But the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee has yet another connection with the world of far-Left radicalism. Obama has long been linked — through foundation grants, shared political activism, collaboration on legislation and tactics, and mutual praise and support — with the Chicago-based Gamaliel Foundation, one of the least known yet most influential national umbrella groups for...

I returned from vacation this morning and just had to share this with you guys. The first leg of our trip was a visit to beautiful Savannah, GA. While trying to get my bearings upon our arrival, I made a wrong turn and ended up in a neighborhood that ... I would not normally visit. However, we spotted this interesting sight and I made it a point to get a shot of it while leaving this area. This is located at the corner of Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd and Victory. Now, some might simply see this as just...

The owner of Public Affairs Books is a company called Perseus Book Group. Here’s their ownership tree: Perseus Books Home. The firm is owned by Perseus Funds Group, (holding company Perseus LLC) a capital management firm that grew from about $20 million in 1995 to over $2 billion now. Big infusions of cash seemed to help it grow exponentially and...

Bos Smith in front of Masjid At-Taqwa(Editor’s Note: If Bos Smith, who holds a law degree from Wake Forest University can be hauled away by an angry group of angry Muslims in Islamic garb to the basement of a mosque where a group of 20 “security guards” in karate suits all for taking a photo, what about a tourist taking pictures for his travelogue? The working man’s lament, “It’s a free country, isn’t it?” doesn’t seem to work anymore.) A tree grew in Brooklyn. No longer. It has been uprooted by the Masjid At-Taqwa and other radical mosques that...

Austin police said Thursday that they are leaning toward a ruling of suicide in the death of a middle school teacher and activist whose body was found Wednesday in Lady Bird Lake with his hands and legs bound and tape over his eyes. Police identified Riad Hamad, 55, at a news conference Thursday and said the binding of his limbs and the placement of the tape was consistent with Hamad having done it himself. Austin police homicide Sgt. Joe Chacon said family members told investigators that the Clint Small Jr. Middle School teacher had "several stressors" in his life and...

A new book sure to be embraced by the Left argues that the pending doom of global warming requires that liberal democracy must give way to "a form of authoritarian government by experts" who can lead us to confront the climate crisis. The book also argues that humanity must give up its "loving marriage to economic growth." In other words, to save the planet we have to be poorer and live under tyranny. I never realized that China and the USSR were environmental utopias... [Hat tip: Jonah Goldberg's Liberal Facism blog] One of the book's co-authors actually points to China...

When a girl is taken — usually by her mother — to a free circumcision event held each spring in Bandung, Indonesia, she is handed over to a small group of women who, swiftly and yet with apparent affection, cut off a small piece of her genitals. Sponsored by the Assalaam Foundation, an Islamic educational and social-services organization, circumcisions take place in a prayer center or an emptied-out elementary-school classroom where desks are pushed together and covered with sheets and a pillow to serve as makeshift beds. The procedure takes several minutes. There is little blood involved. Afterward, the girl’s...
