Captain Phil Harris suffered a stroke yesterday at St. Paul Island in Alaska. He was medivacked to Anchorage and is currently at a hospital receiving treatment.
I didnt say anything earlier, so family can learn from us instead of through the internet. I know anybody who is reading this also cares about Phil, so we thought you should know as well.
Phil is at a good hospital and receiving the best care possible. My mother, Cornelia Marie Devlin and Jake Harris are with him at the hospital. Josh is staying on the boat to help the new relief skipper who is flying out there today. The boat is in the harbor now, but needs to be able to leave in case the ice shifts and moves in.
Our engineer Steve found Capt. Phil on the floor of his stateroom Friday. He was immediately taken to the clinic in St. Paul the same place he was treated when he had a blood clot two years ago.
As soon as we receive more information about Phil, we will pass it on to you.
Damn, I like the guy, but he just can’t seem to take a hint. Smoking in the hospital?!? His sons are headed down the same path. So is Sig. 36 hour shifts?
Prayers up for Phil and his family. “Deadliest Catch” is one of those shows on TV that is worth watching, IMHO.
Is he the chain smoker? The poor guy is on the way to an early grave.
Best wishes Phil!
He is a walking death wish, no sleep, blood clots, horrible diet, horrid blood pressure, smokes constantly...I mean...seriously. Who didn’t see this coming? All the best to him and hopes he makes it and wises up.
Should have stayed off the boat Phil.
Capt. Phil Harris
What worries me is how this is worded. It doesn’t give his condition, it just says he’s getting the best of care.
I hate to hear it - love the show and Phil seems like a good guy. Prayers up!
Prayers for him.
Prayers for Phil and his family.
It’s scary when they don’t tell you how he’s doing. Makes you think the worst.
Thanks for posting this
More than all that, he frequently seemed to look shall we say, somewhat under the influence.
No doubt he knew it was comming. But hey, happens to us all sooner or later.
One of the FEW shows on TV worth watching!
Prayers up for him and his family ....
Get well Phil.
One of my few don’t miss shows. Prayers for Capt.Phil.
If he had a stroke and some time passed before they found him it’s definitely not good. That isn’t to say he can’t make a full recovery but everything I read about stroke says the every minute matters. Charlie Daniels recently had a stroke and is doing well, he said if it takes longer than 3 hours to get to the hospital and get treatment you’re screwed.
Great show, but not surprising at all. Captain Phil is one of the most unhealthy looking persons I’ve ever seen. He needs a major life change if he wants to live much longer.
Wishing him a recovery.
Hope Captain Phil makes a full recovery and takes the hint to give up the smokes, the Red Bull and stays the heck off the boat.
Life is more than money.
