The Komplex Trojan can download, execute, and delete files from an infected Mac Security researchers have found a new Mac OS X malware that appears to be targeting the aerospace industry. The Trojan, called Komplex, can download, execute, and delete files from an infected Mac, according to security firm Palo Alto Networks. Interestingly, the Trojan will also save a PDF document to the infected system concerning the Russian space program. The PDF document details planned Russian space projects from 2016 to 2025, but it acts as a decoy, Palo Alto Networks said in Monday blog post. In reality, the Trojan...

Two bottles of OJ that retailed for $1.69 at Dollar General will end up costing the chain more than a quarter of a million dollars. That after a diabetic former employee won a lawsuit connected to the juice. Linda Atkins was working at a Maryville, Tenn., location in the fall of 2011 when she felt a hypoglycemic attack coming on. The main cashier was on break, and so “to avoid leaving the cash register unattended, and for the security of the store,” Atkins grabbed a bottle of OJ from the cooler, drank it, and then paid for it once her...

In first moments of debate, Clinton reboots subsidy push for well-connected green energy firmsne of the first dust-ups in the debate was about green energy. As expected, Democratic presidential Hillary Clinton pleaded for expanded green energy policies — or in other words — expanded green subsidies.Within the first 10 minutes, Clinton said she wanted the United States to be the world capital of clean, green energy.“Some country is going to be the clean energy super power of the 21st century,” said Clinton. “Donald thinks climate change is a hoax perpetrated by the Chinese. I think it’s real.”Trump interrupted, protesting her claim....

Forensic researcher claims iOS 10 local backups are easier to crack since the security protection is 2,500 times weaker than in iOS 9, but Apple promised to roll out a patch for the security flaw. After Apple’s battle over encryption with the FBI, you’d expect Apple’s newest iOS to continue the trend of providing even better privacy and security than the previous iOS version. Sadly, that’s currently not true as iOS 10 has a “major security flaw” which leaves the data locally backed up to iTunes much more vulnerable to password cracking. At least that is what Russian forensic software...

WHARTON, W.Va. — In the coal community of Clinton Camp, not many are in Clinton’s camp. “Nobody likes Hillary around here,” said 77-year-old retired coal miner Darrell Bower, who was watering his lawn last week. “Everybody in my family and everyone I know is going to vote for Trump.” Millions of Americans are expected to tune in tonight to the first presidential debate between Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and Republican nominee Donald Trump, the least-liked presidential candidates ever. In Clinton Camp, an unincorporated area of Wharton where the homes were constructed as a coal camp in the late 1940s, not...

How the FDA Manipulates the Media The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has been arm-twisting journalists into relinquishing their reportorial independence, our investigation reveals. Other institutions are following suit By Charles Seife | Scientific American October 2016 Issue The deal was this: NPR, along with a select group of media outlets, would get a briefing about an upcoming announcement by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration a day before anyone else. But in exchange for the scoop, NPR would have to abandon its reportorial independence. The FDA would dictate whom NPR's reporter could and couldn't interview. “My editors are uncomfortable...

“In California, they say: ‘water runs uphill toward money.’ To that, now should be added the adage: ‘Water runs up-Hillary to money’.” News flash: Hillary’s Western Water Plan would trickle up to elites. “The Clinton plan states that: ‘the United States has 17 national labs that work on energy, but not one that is focused exclusively on water’.” However, the Federal EPA already runs four water and environmental technology laboratories in Research Park, North Carolina (health effects); Cincinnati, Ohio (engineering); Corvallis, Oregon (ecology); and Las Vegas, Nevada (monitoring). This is not to mention that in California Fresno State University runs...

A newly qualified architect turned her back on the construction industry to spend her days building ornate cakes with the help of a 3D printer. Dinara Kasko was determined to be an architect and design landmark buildings, so she attended Kharkov University Architecture School in her home country. But, as soon as she started working in the industry, she just knew it wasn’t for her. So the 27-year-old Ukrainian looked for a way to apply her skills to another arena. She worked as a designer, a photographer and then a 3D visualizer. She started baking in the background, as a...

Moody’s has downgraded Turkey’s credit rating to “junk” status, a further blow to an economy shaken by terrorist attacks, a failed military coup and a diplomatic spat with Russia. The rating agency on Friday lowered its rating on Turkey’s debt one notch, stripping it of investment-grade status. The move could mean higher borrowing costs as investors demand steeper interest rates to take on riskier Turkish debt. …

They dot the landscape in this working-class New Jersey city, popping up every few blocks with names like US Fried Chicken, Royal Fried Chicken and New York Fried Chicken and Burger and giving immigrants a foothold in a new country. One of these fried chicken restaurants, First American Fried Chicken, was thrust into the international spotlight on Monday when authorities arrested the owner’s son, Ahmad Rahami, after a shootout with police. Rahami is suspected of planting several explosives in New York City and New Jersey, including one that blew up on Saturday night in Manhattan and injured 29 people and...

Canada is sending a record amount of oil to the U.S., filling pipelines to capacity and threatening to push more crude into rail cars. U.S. imports from its northern neighbour jumped 17 per cent to 3.46 million barrels a day last week, the U.S. Energy Information Administration said Wednesday in a preliminary report. That’s the most since the agency began collecting such data in 2010. Exports have surged as Alberta recovers from wildfires that disrupted supplies earlier this year. Supplies from the oil sands are piling up as producers bring back output and projects that had been delayed by the...

The iPhone 7 is, in Apple’s own words, “the best, most advanced iPhone ever.” It is not, however, impossible to hack. A teenage hacker has found a way to circumvent the phone’s security and restrictions, jailbreaking a brand new iPhone 7 running iOS 10, effectively taking full control of it and allowing him to install apps not approved by Apple. The 19-year-old hacker, who’s known online as qwertyoruiop but whose real name is Luca Todesco, took advantage of a series of bugs he found and exploited—and all it took him, he said, was just 24 hours.

When more important matters die down, I will have more to say about Senator Bob Corker’s rant on Fox News last week, accusing me of making “purposeful misstatements” about his legislation that enabled President Obama to get his Iran Deal through Congress. The Senator was provoked when Fox’s Bret Baier read from a column I wrote last year.

$11 Billion In Missing Obamacare Subsidies From Mass Tax NoncomplianceComplications arising from the Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits (PTCs) are causing millions of people to effectively break the law. People who benefit from advance premium tax credits (APTCs) must file tax returns and include a form to reconcile the advanced amount to the actual end-of-year entitled amount. The failure of so many people to fulfill this new legal requirement has led the government to spend more than it should have as APTCs tend to be higher than legally entitled amounts. The big news is that tax filers,...
