Samsung received '26 false reports' of Note 7 fires

Samsung Electronics had 26 false reports from consumers alleging that their Galaxy Note 7 caught fire since its recall announcement earlier this month, the company has said.

Out of the 26 reports, the South Korean tech giant said that in 12 cases they found no fault with the devices. In seven cases, the reported victim could not be reached and in another seven incidents, the consumer cancelled the report or alleged that they threw away the device.

So, after selling 1+ million Note7s, and having just 35 have reported failures, Samsung recalled them all. Now it turns out that 26 failures were false. Leaving perhaps just 9 battery failures for the millions of units actually sold.

Just an update on the ongoing Samsung battery issue! Apparently nowhere near as bad as originally stated - and now it's completely resolved with replacement phones available for free.

just 9 battery failures , let me guess , all of them keep the phone on their back pocket and they perspire heavily which cause the battery to go nuts

Yep it seems there was a concerted effort to bring down Samsung on their new release.
I know a few people who have bought the note 7 and there has been no problems.

Oldest son got the 7 active and said it is by far the best phone he has ever had , and he has had many kinds , including Apple, Samsung, LG etc.

Attack of the applezombies!

Got the note 7 the day it came out. It worked GREAT! No heat at all. The recall replacement works just as well. With the hipshot update that turns the battery icon green if it is a recall replacement or adds a nag screen if not, it is still the best phablet yet.

Now if Otterbox would get off the blocks and put out defender case....

Yep. Curious it happened with a massive media storm - and it may have been as few as 9 units (35 - 26) that had actual problems. Nine out of a million...

Either way, Samsung stepped up, solved the problem - and they did right by the consumer. Too bad other companies always try to blame the consumer rather than own up to their own potential failures!

There are still hundreds of unresolved reports of Galaxy Note 7’s “stealing souls” and/or the “mojo” of users, as well as allergic reactions to its skin penetrating nanobots and lower standards of taste when listening to K-Pop music.
