Yesterday (October 5) Twitter suspended the account of “Ricky Vaughn,” the pseudonym of a popular Twitter user whose real identity is unknown. (Ricky Vaughn is the name of a rookie pitcher in Major League, a popular 1989 movie. Actor Charlie Sheen played Vaughn in the film.) Ricky Vaughn is a prominent Donald Trump supporter identified with the alt-right phenomenon. He’s so big that MIT named him the 107th most influential Twitter account on the election.

IMF downgraded U.S. growth to 1.6 percent in 2016, decline of 38 percent from previous year The International Monetary Fund downgraded the economic growth outlook for the United States to 1.6 percent in 2016, which is the largest one-year drop seen for an advanced economy, according to the Fund’s World Economic Outlook report. According to the report, the United States grew at a rate of 2.6 percent in 2015 and is projected to slow to 1.6 percent in 2016, a decline of 38 percent. • Clinton Misses Point of Trump’s Tweet on China’s Climate “Hoax”

During the first presidential debate, Hillary Clinton accused Donald Trump of thinking “climate change is a hoax perpetrated by the Chinese.” The real estate mogul denied ever making the statement. Referencing a 2012 tweet from Trump, Clinton surrogates and environmental activists quickly unleashed a storm of ridicule, smugly asking whether Trump actually believes climate change was something dreamed up in Beijing. On its face, the comment attributed to Trump certainly seems absurd. However, Clinton mischaracterized Trump’s position when she paraphrased his tweet during the debate. He actually wrote that “the concept of global warming was created by and for the...

CLEVELAND, OHIO — As a union carpenter, Dustin Wolf used to walk on stilts to work on grid ceilings. Now he works for the local chapter of his union, Interior Systems Local 373 of the Regional Council of Carpenters, which represents 35,000 carpenters across Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. A fourth generation union carpenter, Wolf will be voting for Democratic Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton because "the carpenters have endorsed Hillary Clinton, so that's who I'm voting for." Wolf is part of a long tradition of union members voting for the candidate endorsed by their union. But there are signs that tradition...
  • Barbara Boxer & Chelsea Clinton join Bill Clinton in slamming ObamaCare

Single Payer push On Tuesday, I talked about the real reason Bill Clinton and The New York Times had suddenly decided to attack ObamaCare as an expensive, confusing, unworkable mess. Far from being an off-the-cuff comment, I argued, Bill was doing exactly what he’d been ordered to do. The left is salivating over the federal power that would come with a single payer system, Hillary’s wanted one for decades, and they need to boost support in key liberal demos. This is their pivot moment. As I wrote two days ago: It’s time to pivot toward single payer. Of course, this...
  • Are They Planning to call The Election a Fraud if Trump Wins?

There is a very interesting rumor from behind the curtain. What they are concerned about is that Trump has raised more from small donors under $200 than any previous Republican in history. Even John McCain in 2008 and Mitt Romney in 2012 collected less than $64 million. They are concerned that more small people are donating to Trump and that means it is the small people who vote, whereas hedge fund managers and bankers can give her millions, but one vote. They are starting to set the stage for calling the entire election a FRAUD and pinning the blame on Putin....

The jury is still out on how the presidential candidates will fare during the next debate, on Oct. 9, in the eyes of a key voter constituency: the small-business sector. The group that is composed of 28 million business owners is a major voting block in the upcoming election. Yet if the last presidential debate is any guide, the Republican ticket has an advantage. According to an exclusive nationwide poll with Manta, a social network for small businesses, Trump won the first debate in the eyes of small businesses on Main Street. Manta's survey, which polled a diverse group of...

In 2014, a small start-up shook SOLIDWORKS World with a game-changing technology capable of reinforcing nylon 3D-printed parts with continuous carbon fiber. Markforged, out of Cambridge, Mass., demonstrated that for about $5,000, any machine shop, manufacturing facility or lab could produce carbon fiber–reinforced parts on-demand. The company has since upgraded its system with the Mark Two 3D printer and released a number of new materials, including Kevlar reinforcement and a chopped carbon fiber-nylon composite. Now, however, Markforged aims to change the 3D printing game once again with a new printer dubbed the Mark X. ENGINEERING.com spoke to Markforged CEO and...

As the finale of the 2016 USA presidential election looms closer Donald Trump is easily beating Hillary Clinton amongst printing executives. A total of 62 per cent of printing executives in the USA are throwing their support behind Trump, while Clinton only managed to win just 28 per cent of respondents. According to a survey directed at industry executives, out of the four major industries polled, Trump managed to score the most votes from printers. In a white male-dominated industry, it is not surprising the majority of American printers have joined the Trump camp. Male voters are a crucial pillar...
  • Pipeline Outage Could Lead To Another Gasoline Price Spike

Gasoline prices in the U.S. Southeast spiked in September after a major gasoline pipeline suffered a leak and was forced to temporarily shut down. The Southeast may see gasoline prices rise again because the problems with the pipeline are not over. The Colonial Pipeline is a 2.5 million barrel per day system that carries refined products such as gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and heating oil. It consists of a massive 5,500 miles of pipeline, traveling from the Gulf Coast up to the mid-Atlantic. Fuels refined along the Gulf Coast can reach as far as New York Harbor.

Ford Motor Co (F.N) Executive Chairman Bill Ford Jr. said on Wednesday he has met with Donald Trump to talk about the Republican presidential candidate's extensive criticism of the automaker's investments in Mexico. Ford told the Economic Club of Washington that he thought Trump's criticism of the No. 2 automaker's foreign investments were "infuriating and "frustrating" because of the company's extensive investments and employment in the United States. Trump has threatened if elected to impose hefty tariffs on Ford imports from Mexico. Ford told reporters after the event that the session with Trump was a "great meeting" that took place...

Here in the United States we’re fighting for a $15/hr minimum wage. Various factors (not the least of which being inflation) make it the lowest wage that could properly be called “livable” in today’s economic climate. We’re not outrageous for making this demand, either. The current one ($7.25/hr) is, quite literally, a starvation wage. People can barely live on that, let alone families. That amounts to $58/day — which, unless you forgo food at times, is impossible to live on with rent, bills, food, and transportation. But can you imagine living on just $3 a day? A few years ago, the US...

Hint: They don't care about your healthcare in the least. • Impossible to argue otherwise • Pivot Toward Single Payer This morning, Dan discussed a recent Bill Clinton speech in which the former President trashed Obamacare as a “crazy” system which hurts small business. In case you haven’t seen the clips, seen below. So, if they’re admitting what conservatives said all along - that ObamaCare is an unworkable mess - you have to ask why. Here’s the answer:
  • Morning Joe: If you're mad at Trump for following the tax code, you're a 'freaking hypocrite'

There's no such thing as a tax loophole I’ve argued, on several occasions that there’s no such thing as a tax loophole. It simply doesn’t exist. There’s the tax code as written. That’s it. Nothing more, nothing less. The term “tax loophole” is a loaded term used by liberals who want to imply that someone has committed the crime of tax evasion when they haven’t. What they’re really doing is attacking successful people for being smart enough to know the tax laws and follow them.

Frenemy. He’s right, of course, although you suspect his preferred solution is not a free market system that lets individuals make their own economic arrangements without the interference of the state. ObamaCare is just about the craziest thing in the world, and not only for the people who make just too much to get subsidies. It’s crazy for the people with subsidies too because the quality of the care they can receive under such a cost-controlled structure is far less than if they simply paid the same money out of pocket directly for services.

On October 3, Garden Fresh Restaurant Corp., which owns Souplantation and Sweet Tomatoes, filed for bankruptcy. The company, owned by private-equity firm Sun Capital Partners, said it will close 20 to 30 of its 124 locations and put itself up for sale. On September 30, Restaurants Acquisitions, the operator of Black-eyed Pea and Dixie House restaurant chains, converted its Chapter 11 filing to Chapter 7 liquidation. The bankruptcy court order noted the company had shuttered its restaurants and management had resigned. On September 29, Cosi Inc., a fast-casual chain with 1,100 employees filed for bankruptcy. Let's move to Mars You may have noticed in recent news headlines, one company “here” is getting sued by the government “there” for multi-billions and another company “there” is getting sued for similar billions by the government “here.” Is it just a coincidence or something of a “tit-for-tat” game? Frankly, I’m not sure. Perhaps each side has some legitimate reasons to complain.
