MOSCOW, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- The value of the Russian ruble hit a historic low Monday when compared with U.S. and European currencies, the Russian Central Bank said. It took just over 40 rubles to buy one U.S. dollar, or just over 50 rubles to buy a euro, in Monday trading, the bank said. Douglas McAuthur McCain, 33, of San Diego California was killed over the weekend in fighting between the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) and a Syrian opposition group, according to the Free Syrian Army. After the battle, McCain, along with his American passport and the bodies of three other foreign jihadis were found. Two St. Louis city police officers shot and killed a black man who came within several feet of them brandishing a knife on Tuesday in a confrontation a few miles from the turbulent suburb of Ferguson, authorities said.

ISIS is all over the Ferguson protests on Twitter, encouraging jihadists to head on over and do some recruiting. And it seems like the message has gotten through, as a t-shirt spray painted with “ISIS Here” was flashed on CNN Monday.

On Monday night during an evening broadcast from the Ferguson protests with Jake Tapper, there a banner that said “ISIS here” that was being held behind Tapper as he reported. Taiwan's Central News Agency says a plane has crashed in a failed emergency landing, killing 51 people. The news agency cited the head of the fire department in the Taiwanese county of Penghu as saying that seven people were also injured in the crash.
