A woman was taken hostage by a suspected terrorist at a tram stop in Brussels today, witnesses say. Police shot the suspect as part of a fresh swoop to thwart an 'imminent attack' on France. A second suspect was also shot in the raid, which began in a flat nearby in the Schaerbeek area of north Brussels. Dramatic footage shows police coaxing a child away from the injured suspect who was shot in the leg at the tram stop amid reports he was carrying a bomb in a rucksack.

Vice President Joe Biden reassured a leading pro-Israel group the Obama administration stands firmly by its Mideast ally and said the Iran nuclear agreement will make the region more safe. He told a meeting of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee Sunday night that: “Iran is much, much further away from obtaining a nuclear weapon than they were a year ago.” He said the U.S. is watching and “if Iran violates the deal, the United States will act.” …

HANSFORD, W.Va. — A Kanawha County sheriff bomb technician has secured the scene of an explosion in eastern Kanawha County. Deputies said the blast caused minor damage near the road in the 100 block of Chesapeake Street in Hansford. Deputies said an "improvised explosion device," or IED was apparently detonated. The blast left behind gunpowder on street signs and tree branches, dirt and grass just strewn across the ground. Dispatchers said the call came in at 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
