HANSFORD, W.Va. â A Kanawha County sheriff bomb technician has secured the scene of an explosion in eastern Kanawha County.
Deputies said the blast caused minor damage near the road in the 100 block of Chesapeake Street in Hansford. Deputies said an "improvised explosion device," or IED was apparently detonated. The blast left behind gunpowder on street signs and tree branches, dirt and grass just strewn across the ground.
Dispatchers said the call came in at 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
The Pratt Fire Department put out a fire when it arrived at the scene. Kanawha County deputies brought in a bomb technician to collect evidence at the scene.
Bomb experts have taken parts of the explosive device to a lab for analysis.
No word on a motive or suspects at this time.
Some hillbilly dropped his moonshine on the way home from banjo practice.
Stay away from West Virginia, boy. We’re all just a bunch of gap-toothed hillbillies. We’ll string you up and make you squeal like a pig as soon as look at you.
Is dat whhhear it be going? lol
yea be careful they may need some new fangled mountain oysters
Not a moonshine still blowin’ up?
Meth lab?
Oh don't you worry, that won't be a problem. Made the mistake of moving there in 2007, and got out soon as I could in 2011. Screw that wretched state.
Yeah, you just keep tellin’ folks that.
West Virginia SUX. Don’t go there.
Thank you very much, and have a lovely day!
Gunpowder? That will work but that is not the mark of a professional organization.
We loved to blow off M80’s; never called them IED’s. I think an M80 would have been bigger than what was shown.
Good grief; it might have been a firecracker.
Yup.
We do the same here in Alabama.
“Watch this y’all.”
