ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A state lawmaker from St. Louis is asking a legislative committee to investigate whether St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch "manipulated" the grand jury in the Michael Brown case. A joint House and Senate committee is investigating why Gov. Jay Nixon did not use National Guard troops to prevent burning and looting in Ferguson on Nov. 24, the night McCulloch announced that the grand jury would not indict Ferguson officer Darren Wilson in the August shooting death of Brown....

President Barack Obama appealed for calm and understanding in Ferguson on Monday after a grand jury decided not to indict in the death of Michael Brown, pleading with both residents and police officers to show restraint. “We are a nation built on the rule of law, so we need to accept that this decision was the grand jury’s to make,” Obama said. CBS News reports that Obama did not watch St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch’s announcement, but his aides did and briefed him. It was the fifth time Obama addressed Brown’s death.
  • What do you think will be the grand jury verdict concerning Officer Darren Wilson?

I believe a decision from the grand jury is just around the corner. With this in mind... Do you think that Officer Darren Wilson will face charges - or not? Do you think the grand jury should give equal weight to both sides (eyewitness Officer Darren Wilson and the 5 other eyewitnesses)? Are civilan eyewitness accounts (be it one person or more) ever equal to that of a police officer? If so, in which cases? If the 5 eyewitnesses don't agree on all things, should the grand jury take into account everything the 5 eyewitnesses do agree upon? Does the...

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon (D) declined to back the prosecutor in the case involving the shooting of an unarmed black teenager in Ferguson, Mo. that has touched off nationwide unrest. African-American leaders in Missouri have criticized St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch’s handling of the case, arguing that he is inclined to side with law enforcement officials because he has received campaign contributions from police groups and has said publicly that his father was a cop who was killed in the line of duty. Appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday, Nixon declined to directly support McCulloch for the...

Is is being reported that President Obama wanted to fire a Republican US Attorney in Missouri and to replace her with a Democrat. Now, can we revisit the agonized wailing that emanated in 2006 from the unhinged left when President Bush fired some US Attorneys? Remember how they screamed that it was all "just political" and that it might even be an illegal action? Remember how they gyrated over Bush's supposed "destruction" of the US Attorney offices in the land, how he was trying to ruin our system? Their wailing went on for several years quite despite the fact that...
