Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon (D) declined to back the prosecutor in the case involving the shooting of an unarmed black teenager in Ferguson, Mo. that has touched off nationwide unrest.

African-American leaders in Missouri have criticized St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch’s handling of the case, arguing that he is inclined to side with law enforcement officials because he has received campaign contributions from police groups and has said publicly that his father was a cop who was killed in the line of duty.

Appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday, Nixon declined to directly support McCulloch for the Michael Brown case.

“He’s democratically elected by overwhelming numbers, and reelected,” Nixon said when he was asked if he was confident in McCulloch.

“I think clearly he has the experience, the people here have elected him,” he added. “You don’t want to pre-judge any of this.”

CNN host Candy Crowley pressed Nixon on responding directly to the criticism of McCulloch, but he said only that he was “confident with the dual investigations, justice will be served here.

“I do believe that everybody has a duty to do here. All the folks around this appreciate the pressure and the watch that’s going on here and I’m hopeful that everybody is going to live up to those duties and do a good job moving forward,” he said.

Nixon added that Brown’s funeral, which is scheduled to take place on Monday. “would be done in a context in which there is good respect and safety.

“Our focus is making sure the dual investigations…move forward and that they’re thorough,” he said.

So now he’s backing out when it was pointed out there is a law and all that and also his stupidity for opening his mouth before all the facts were in?

He seemed to focus on the “dual investigation” aspect of this...which tells me he knows full well that a prosecution of officer Wislon does not have a legbto stand on.

He’s preparing people, IMHO, for te Feds taking up the case.

They’ll not have leg to stand on either.

Nixon is in the unenviable position of being the guy elected by a bunch of idiots but smart enough to know he can’t win with their agenda.

He knows Wilson is in the right. He knows pushing it will literally make him the type of guy that 95% of LEOs would rather spit on than face. In the south, at least it used to be, that Sheriffs ran local politics. You tick them off enough and they will flay you.

Nixon deserves this beating for being a Democrat. Political prostitutes can’t complain when their dalliances have left them with a rash. Part of the job.

“You don’t want to pre-judge any of this.”

Yeah, wouldn’t want anyone to pre-judge.

Except Nixon did just that the other day.

inclined to side with law enforcement officials

He is supposed to, that is his job. This would disqualify him for defense, not prosecution.

It looks like Nixon just wishes the whole thing would go away and, although he won’t support the local prosecutor, he also will neither remove that man and appoint a special prosecutor nor try to take the case away from the grand jury, all in all, no where near as bad as what the FL Pubbie gov. did in caving in to the mob.

The facts be damned!

Those folk just want to lynch a Whitey!

A lifetime of Hate Whitey indoctrination makes them rabid.

Selective Outrage:

Brandi Murry said her little boy took off from her house in a huff on Wednesday afternoon. A short time later, he was found shot several times in the enclosed yard of a nearby apartment house. One local pastor called the killing an 'execution.'

Antonio Smith, 9 Yr Old, Chicago, IL

9-year-old is executed: Where's the outrage?

“You don’t want to pre-judge any of this.”

Did anyone point out the irony of that statement to gov. clown?

“he also will neither remove that man and appoint a special prosecutor nor try to take the case away from the grand jury”

I’ve read elsewhere that’s not possible under Missouri law; that gov can replace local prosecutor only if the prosecutor voluntarily recuses himself.

Nixon has spoken DIRECTLY to Obama. and his whole tone changed after OBAMA laid the law down about using this issue to ramp up black voting in mid terms...the MSM is doing their part of the orchestrated race message...shows Nixon is a tramp
