Florida's statewide elections this year could hinge on how many black voters, drawn to the polls for the first time by Barack Obama's 2008 presidential candidacy, remain engaged in politics and how many stay home. "It's very important that African-American voters turn out," said Clarence Anthony, former mayor of South Bay in Palm Beach County, former president of the National League of Cities and former member of the Democratic National Committee. But, Anthony said, with just eight weeks until Election Day, "I don't think we know what will happen right now."
