Former Atlanta Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against Mayor Kasim Reed and the city, saying he was fired last month because of his religion. Canadian law professor William Schabas, who was appointed to head the UN committee tasked with probing Israel’s alleged “war crimes” during last summer’s Operation Protective Edge in Gaza, announced on Monday evening he was stepping down. Lauderhill police was conducting an investigation involving a stolen vehicle. When they confronted Demaris Turner in the stolen Hyundai Genesis he rammed into a marked K-9 cruiser, which had an officer and a K-9 inside.... ...Local 10 News has learned Turner was shot at least 11 times, including twice in the head, sources said. Two students at the University of California, Berkeley are calling for students to “Occupy the syllabus,” or consider dropping a course if it only includes the works of white men as class material.
