Civil rights attorneys arrived on last Thursday and demanded to see the inmates. They were not the inmates personal attorneys of record. The attorneys wanted to know if the inmates had received their absentee ballots in the mail. As these attorneys were not the inmates’ attorneys of record, Sheriff Scott Israel should not have granted them access to the inmates. Protocol would have the attorneys sign into the jail, yet there is no record. The Deputy stated that the civil rights attorneys providedg the inmates with the narrative that they never received their absentee ballot. The liberal attorneys said the...
  • California Must Discredit Trump Before Trump Discredits California

California is already on defense in its battle with Donald Trump. We need offense—now. Trump is attacking our state as if it were just another political opponent. His strategy is not merely to punish California; he wants to rob our state of its political legitimacy. So the president of the United States has falsely claimed that California’s elections are fraudulent exercises involving millions of illegal votes. He’s frequently accused our biggest cities of endangering our country by failing to assist with deportations. He has called California “out of control” and threatened to “defund” state programs. Such attacks are so potentially...
  • Team Hillary: We’re feeling pretty vindicated by Trump’s first month, you know

It may be “vindicating” to see a media avalanche on the woes of a president you tried to defeat, but it’s also problematic. What, exactly, does it say about your candidate? And yet, NBC News reported last night that Hillary Clinton and her campaign team want everyone to know they’re laughing about Donald Trump’s controversial and chaotic start, while claiming vindication for their campaign: Hillary Clinton and her supporters are laughing to keep from crying. After an election in which Donald Trump led chants of “Lock her up!” over Clinton’s handling of classified material and public transparency and branded her...

He was wrong on the theology. But he’s not running for pastor in chief. He’s running for commander in chief. And if you’re eight months away from possibly swearing in as president, maybe you weigh and calculate your answers in a way not obvious to the rest of us. I’m talking about Donald Trump and the answer to a question I asked him last week. In the run up to the New York presidential primary, he called in to WSYR radio in Syracuse and I got to speak to him for a few minutes. I asked him several things over...

Yet again, for the nth time, Republican Congressional leaders and their Democrat counterparts produced a Trillion dollar, multi-thousand-page spending bill that was voted immediately after being unveiled, without having been read. Republican 2012 vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan authored the latest edition along with Democratic Senator Patti Murray. Republican leader John Boehner preempted Democrats by preemptively accusing Republicans who opposed the bill of wanting to shut down the government. He topped off this feat of leadership by declaring political war on the conservatives who had given Republicans the majority that had made him Speaker of the House – a war...

The goal was to get Jack Taylor out of a shooting slump. He did that. Then he went out and scored the most points ever in a college basketball game. Taylor, a Black River Falls High School graduate, is about to get his 15 minutes of national fame after scoring an NCAA-record 138 points for Grinnell College in a 179-104 victory over Faith Baptist Bible College on Tuesday night in Grinnell, Iowa... The previous NCAA record was held by Clarence “Bevo” Francis, who scored 113 points in a 1954 game for Division II Rio Grande....
