The Lone Star Brewery has been saved from being sold at a foreclosure auction Tuesday, even after its owner defaulted on a $7.4 million loan, according to the lawyer who was appointed to run the sale. Local lawyer Dale Weyand said in an email that he had been instructed to “pull the sale” by NCC Financial, a Houston firm that loaned the $7.4 million to the brewery’s owner, Lone Star Brewery Development Inc., in 2015. Heavy drinking can lead to a number of serious health problems, including increased risk of cancer, heart disease, and dementia, but consuming even moderate levels of alcohol could be dangerous, as well, new research suggests.
