By developing a lighter, two-piece case with steel and aluminum, Shell Shock Technologies has begun to capture a share of the factory ammunition and reloading market. On 9 May, 2017, a Houston family underwent a home invasion nightmare. Sometime in the early morning hours, twin 19 year old brothers woke to their parents screaming while being beat and held hostage by four armed home invaders. Officers fatally shot an armed jail inmate who took two nurses hostage at a hospital in northern Illinois on Saturday, several hours after the inmate stole a gun from the correction's officer guarding him, authorities said. A man in Toledo, Ohio, learned a lesson in handgun safety over the weekend when his weapon discharged while he was climbing out of his car, shooting him in the penis. WTOL-TV reports that police responded to a call after someone heard Murad Hamedallah screaming that he had been shot. They found him on the ground outside the car near a trash can, and they found a bullet hole in the driver's seat of his car. Paramedics found matching holes in his penis and thigh.

Lead dust discharged from firearms at gun ranges may be posing a significant health risk, a new analysis has concluded. The review analysis of 36 studies conducted between 1975 and 2016, published recently in the journal Environmental Health, looked at the ways gun range lead exposure affected patrons, employees and family members. After multiple staff departures from gun control group Everytown for Gun Safety and its spinoff Moms Demand Action, activists say a top decision-maker at both groups is making life difficult for those in the movement.
