  • BBC: Somalia beach Guard with Leather AK Mag Pouches

As I watched a BBC news story about how order is being restored to Somalia, I could not help but notice the beach guard with his AK 47 and the very nice,  leather magazine pouches for 30 round magazines.   They seem to be attached to a load bearing system with shoulder straps.  From the uniformity of the pouches, it appears to be at least a local cottage industry.  The top flap seems to protect the magazines from sand, and I expect that in Somalia, a desert country, mold and decay are not huge problems.  I wonder how the leather...
  • Hey, let’s create a national database of gun owners!

There’s one refrain which the Democrat choir always breaks out whenever they propose new gun restrictions: Oh, we’re not trying to establish some national registry of gun owners. Perish the thought! But when you look under the covers of these various proposals, they all seem to come suspiciously close to doing just that. (Not that we’re suggesting anything here, mind you. Perish the thought.) And yet that same discussion has arisen once again now that Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney has resurrected the prospect of “closing loopholes” at gun shows. Funny how that works, eh? (From The Hill) Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.)...

The 4-year-old, identified by her family as Jacele Johnson, was shot about 8 p.m. Friday in the West Englewood neighborhood. She and her 17-year-old cousin Romare Wilson were inside an SUV in the 7000 block of South Justine when another vehicle pulled up and someone inside opened fire, according to their family and Chicago Police. The girl was shot in the head and taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where she was in critical condition, authorities said. U.S. Representative Mike Rogers (R-Alabama) made headlines recently when he introduced an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act of 2015 (H.R. 1735). The amendment allows for the transfer of surplus 1911A1 handguns to the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) for sale to the general public. Last week, in response, the U.S. army released a white paper voicing “concern” over this amendment and claimed that there would be “potential negative impacts on public safety from the large amount of semi-automatic and concealable pistols that will be released for public purchase.” These concerns included the traceability of the firearms after sale, and...

Gun Owners of America, the radical and influential gun group that boasts that it is far to the right of the NRA, announced in an email to its members yesterday that it will be holding a series of “tele-town hall meetings” with Republican presidential candidates in order to vet the candidates on their gun-law orthodoxy. The “first of several” calls, to be held next week, will feature Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, a clear favorite of Gun Owners of America’s executive director, Larry Pratt. While it’s unclear which other GOP candidates have agreed to participate in GOA’s calls, it’s disturbing that...
  • MATT DRUDGE SLAMS BOEHNER FOR PROMISING TO PASS OBAMATRADE: ‘CLEARLY TREASON’

Matt Drudge took to Twitter to deliver an ongoing tirade against Republicans’ eagerness to deliver a fast-track trade bill to President Obama’s desk. The bill’s details have not been made public — which hasn’t stopped Republicans from surrendering Congress’s power to make amendments to a president’s future trade deals. Should a Republican presidential candidate lose the 2016 general election, the Trade Promotion Authority bill could be to blame. Keeping the bill’s details from voters was “clearly treason,” Drudge tweeted...

Potential GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump and his daughter have donated “at least $105,000 to the Clinton Foundation,” The Hill reported Thursday. Contributions, per the Foundation website, “advance the work of any part of the Clinton Foundation, including the Clinton Global Initiative.”That would be the same group behind the Clinton Global Citizen Award, presented to anti-gun billionaire Michael Bloomberg by Vice President Joe Biden for being the “most fierce and most effective advocate that we have on the matter of gun sanity.” And it’s hardly the first time Trump has come across as effectively bipolar on guns.“I love the NRA,...

To help shooters make that determination, Guns & Ammo has conducted an extensive test, pitting 10 popular single stack 9mm pistols against each other in a shootout. Testers fired more than 8,000 rounds of 9mm through the 10 pistols, documenting all failures and malfunctions over the length of the test, as well as accuracy both prior to and after the test’s completion.

On 22 May, 2015, the Nevada House passed SB175, a bill that combined a ban on people who have domestic violence convictions with major firearm law reforms. The domestic violence law mirrors federal law, so it will have little practical effect unless the federal law is repealed or struck down by some future court. The bill passed the Senate 14 to 5, and the Assembly, 25 to 17. Governor Sandoval is expected to sign it. I am writing this article from Nevada, and these gun law reforms are welcome. They are similar to those enacted by a number of states...

If you oppose the passage of a federal law requiring background checks for gun buyers, you're endangering police officers and empowering cop killers — and you're not doing anything to protect the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens.

There are two bills in the Texas legislature to reform the State's knife laws.  HB 905 adds knives to the state preemption law for firearms.  This will prevent people from unknowingly becoming criminals for local ordinances that they are unaware of.   The local ordiances are infamous for being selectively enforced. The second bill, HB 3884 decriminalizes arms that are clearly protected under the second amendment, highly desired knives such as Bowie knives, daggers, swords, and spears.  Strange as it may seem, these knives were made illegal to carry during reconstruction in the 1870's, and the law is still on...

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Sen. Orrin Hatch may soon give the President authority to write gun control restrictions into a “trade agreement.” So click here to contact your Senators –- whether they are liberal or conservative. Urge them to vote against the anti-gun “fast track” bill (S. 995). Will UN-style gun control be rammed down our throats? Gun import bans ... Microstamping of firearms ... Ammunition bans ... The full implementation of the anti-gun UN Arms Trade Treaty ... Illegal amnesty which locks in millions of new, anti-gun voters.

A would be carjacker was stopped by an armed citizen in Atlanta and held at gunpoint until police arrived. Edgar Horn, 61, allegedly slipped into the passenger's seat of his car as he pulled into a Family Dollar on Marietta Boulevard. "You know what this is," Horn allegedly told Fannin. That's when Fannin pulled out his gun and told Horn to get out of his car. Apparently Horn thought he could just leave, but Fannin wasn't having any of that.

The above picture is photo-shopped, and was posted as a clever joke.  The man in the "blue polo shirt" is actually a photo-shopped image of Jerry Miculek, one of the most extraordinary pistol shots of all time.  As Miculek is a gun culture icon, the joke was quickly exposed, but it was highly regarded.  Here is the original wording with the picture:  From ar15.com, page 51:  My sources on the Deep Web came across this pic. It was taken shortly after the shooting. The guy in the blue polo shirt with the crazy leg rig is said to be...

But today, Republicans control both the state Senate AND the state Assembly, which means “Amanda’s Law” should finally be approved with no fuss or muss whatsoever, right? Indeed, the bill passed easily in the Assembly. But two Republican senators – for unknown reasons (the ones they give are total bull$#!+) – are trying to kill the bill: Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Greg Brower, and his boss, Senate Majority Leader Michael Roberson. The pair blocked a hearing and committee vote on Amanda’s Law last week before the deadline, killing its chance to get a stand-alone up-or-down vote on the Senate floor....

--snip-- The alleged car jacking attempt failed to amount to anything because Fannin pulled out a gun and ordered him out, the aftermath of which is now shown in a witness video of the encounter between Edgar Horn. Fannin kept his cool while keeping the 61-year-old suspect, Horn, on the ground at gunpoint, the video obtained by WSB-TV shows. He also had plenty of time to lecture Horn about nearly becoming a victim as a team of police officers arrived.
