It must come as a surprise to Shannon Watts who runs Michael Bloomberg’s “Moms Demand Action” but gun owners really do have the law on their side. We have, however, become targets through social media bullying tactics. Ms. Watts should get used to legal gun owners prevailing, after all we have the Second Amendment on our side.

On January 16, The Washington Post (WaPo) reported that guns may serve a defensive purpose—that defensive gun uses may be slightly higher than 3 million each year—but we will not know until the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) begin their research into guns as a public health issue. WaPo quoted a New American Magazine article which said, “Almost all national survey estimates indicate that defensive gun uses by victims are at least as common as offensive uses by criminals, with estimates of annual uses ranging from about 500,000 to more than 3 million per year.”

Smith & Wesson (SWHC) fired up investors on Tuesday by saying it sees "recent, positive trends" in the consumer firearm market, and that's likely to translate directly into higher profits for the gun maker. An American gun company has found a way around the anti-Russia sanctions that have banned imports of the Kalashnikov assault rifle: Make them here, in the U.S.A. An Arizona lawmaker has submitted a trio of bills that call for expanded background checks on private gun transfers and limits on firearm use by youth under 14. The legislation includes two measures, HB 2118 and HCR 2009, that would criminalize the private transfer of firearms by requiring all private transfers to be conducted through a federally licensed firearms dealer (FFL). The third, HB2371, would restrict the use of any autoloading firearm by a shooter under the age of 14 years old.
