Experts say a special breed found in Madagascar could hold the key to keeping them alive. But there are only five known trees in existence. Scientists are racing to develop new banana varieties strong enough to survive Panama disease, which is a major threat to banana crops around the world. Because bananas are clones, the disease is able to spread very quickly from one to another. It is currently wreaking havoc with crops in Asia – but could wipe out the world’s supply if it spreads to America. Richard Allen, senior conservation assessor at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, told...

CNN recently rolled out an ad implying that President Trump tries to tell the American people that an apple is a banana, but that CNN is dedicated to “facts first.” The ad has been met with ridicule, as in the Daily Caller parody seen in this article. You’d think that any self-respecting journalist would run from the ad. But there was good CNN soldier Chris Cuomo echoing it on his show today. Arguing with Trump surrogate Jason Miller regarding the reliability of polls during the 2016 election, Cuomo said, “it’s apples and bananas, my friend.” View the video here.

The students shared what they found with National Pan-Hellenic Council leaders, sparking a day’s worth of camp-wide conversation surrounding symbolism, intended or not. In the midst of the open and sometimes heated discussion, senior accounting major Ryan Swanson said he put the banana peel in...

For years, the conglomerate paid off Colombian militias. So it’s no wonder the company is now furiously lobbying to stop a bill that would make it easier to sue terror financiers. Washington makes for strange alliances—and even stranger enemies. But this could wind up being the oddest confrontation of all. Chiquita, the world’s largest banana producer, is spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to block a 9/11 victims’ bill. And outraged supporters of the legislation accuse a senior lawmaker, Rep. Bob Goodlatte, of working with the fruit kings to stand in their way. According to Congressional lobbying disclosures, Chiquita has...

Police in the western Indian city administered an enema which failed to yield the desired result. New info from Havana and the Pope's visit. New "freedoms" celebrated... and monitored as in every good socialist/marxist dictatorship. Have a laugh in the face of the serious happenings. "The official language of San Marcos (Cuba), will be Swedish. All citizens will be required to change their underwear on the 1/2 hour.....underwear to be worn on the outside, so we can check. Also, all children under 16 years old, are now... 16 years old". From the movie (woody allen's- his last worthwhile funny film from long ago-- considering what a perv he is) "Bananas"- appropriate with the shiite going on...

Some people lie awake nights worrying about terrorist attacks, giant asteroids crashing into the Earth or war with Russia. I can slumber peacefully through those perils. What causes me to wake up screaming is the banana blight. To say I'm favorably inclined toward bananas is like saying Miley Cyrus has overcome her inhibitions. I have an unbroken record of eating two bananas a day that stretches back to the Johnson administration. Two is the bare minimum I regard as necessary to sustain life. I'm not ashamed to say there are days when I've gone through five. After that I stop...

Harry Belafonte in recent years has been positively Kanye-esque in his outspokenness. The 85-year-old singer — a revered icon in American pop music, the King of Calypso, the resonant voice behind the 1956 classic “Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)” — has tallied headlines for his frank opinions on matters ranging from U.S. foreign policy to race relations. In 2002, Belafonte likened Secretary of State Colin Powell to a “house slave” for his acquiescence to the invasion of Iraq. He called President George W. Bush “the greatest tyrant in the world, the greatest terrorist in the world” during a 2006 meeting...
