Dr. Phil dishes out advice for a living, but it’s not clear he’s taken any when it comes to interior design. One of his real estate holdings—a Mediterranean-style home with five bedrooms, six bathrooms, and a pool in Beverly Crest—has just come up for sale, and the listing gives the public a glimpse at his family’s brash design aesthetic. Highlights include a spiral staircase adorned with tangled roots, a full bar with chairs that look like tree stumps, and a dramatic dining room with black floors and a wall of assault rifles.

This arsenal of firearms is among the dozens of weapons that have been taken off London’s streets during the Met’s latest gun amnesty. Since Monday 45 weapons have been surrendered across the capital as part of the Give Up Your Gun campaign, including shotguns, revolvers, rifles and handguns, Scotland Yard said. Detectives from the Met’s gang unit today urged anyone still in possession of an illegal firearm to hand it in before the amnesty ends on Sunday night.

A veterans group alleges in a federal lawsuit that officials violated its free-speech rights when they banned a “Don’t Tread on Me” flag from a city-owned armory. The lawsuit filed last week in federal court says New Rochelle’s action, in addition to being unconstitutional, was “unreasonable, arbitrary and capricious” and betrayed a lack of appreciation of history. The City Council had ordered the flag down in March, citing complaints that the yellow banner with a coiled rattlesnake was making a political statement. The flag has been used as an unofficial symbol of the tea party since at least 2008 and...

Hurricane-relief Guardsmen tossed out of armory - for Victoria's Secret show The Victoria’s Secret show must go on — even if it means kicking out hardworking men and women in uniform. Dozens of National Guardsmen, and Army and Air Force personnel who have been sleeping at Manhattan’s Lexington Armory in between hurricane-relief shifts are being booted — to make room for Victoria’s Secret models in anticipation of Wednesday’s runway show. About 300 uniformed personnel have been bunking down at the armory at various times since Sandy hit. But their numbers will be reduced to 60 by Wednesday for the event,...

TRIPOLI - Islamist gunmen have stormed a military arms depot in Libya and a nearby port and seized numerous weapons and army vehicles after killing four soldiers, a security official said on Sunday. The group also took several hostages, both soldiers and civilians, and is "threatening to execute them unless a siege by security forces is lifted" in Al-Baida, the official said, asking not to be named. "This criminal gang assaulted an army weapons depot and seized 250 weapons, killed four soldiers and wounded 16 others" in the Wednesday operation in Derna, which lies east of Al-Baida and 1,300 kilometres...

Demonstrations at Armory Park today are part of a national effort dubbed "A Day Without an Immigrant." Latinos across the country skipped work and boycotted businesses in an effort to demonstrate the importance of immigrants to the economy. At Tucson's Armory Park, hundreds sat in small groups listening to music, eating lunch and mingling around. The tone is low-key, unlike the demonstration last month ---

NYC police on watch for Port courthouse bomber By Andy Smith and Stephanie Akin Staff writers New York City police are targeting a man who bombed Newburyport Superior Court 28 years ago, saying he poses a threat to next week's Republican National Convention. But an anti-war activist group has accused police of trying to "smear" their reputation by linking the group with the convicted radical who terrorized New England with a series of bombings in the 1970s. New York City police say Richard J. Picariello, 55, is among 50 activists whose criminal histories will earn them extra attention next week....

ATHENS, Greece (AP) — A cache of weapons, including automatic rifles, were stolen from a Greek military armory after thieves tunneled through a wall, officials said Saturday. Suspicion immediately fell on the embattled terrorist group November 17, but authorities also left open the possibility it was a heist by ordinary criminals. The theft on the island of Kos was discovered late Friday, but could have occurred anytime in the past 10 days, military authorities announced. It was not immediately clear whether the weapons were supposed to be under guard or in an unmonitored army storehouse on the island, near the...
