A northeast Minneapolis man said he interrupted an armed and bloody robbery at a corner market in his neighborhood, sending the two suspects fleeing when he drew his handgun from his holster and had it “at the ready.” The confrontation occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. Tuesday outside the University Market in the 300 block of 37th Avenue, according to police and the man who stepped in and halted the crime. TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - A west Toledo man is recovering after being shot during an attempted burglary overnight, but he will be charged for his involvement. Police say Antione Garret, 34, and his girlfriend awoke to the sound of someone breaking into their home on Leybourn Avenue. When Garret heard the front window shatter, he ran downstairs and saw Randy Estrada, 21, climbing inside. Garret fired his handgun several times, until Estrada climbed back out the window and ran away.

The attempted robbery occurred at a home on Cascade Court in Columbus at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. The victim of an attempted robbery in St. Paul took action when one of the robbers pointed a gun at him, firing his own gun and wounding one of the robbers. One of the robbers simultaneously fired in the direction of the victim, who was not hurt, according to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday. The Ramsey County attorney's office charged one of the robbery suspects, Marcel Lee Galloway, with aiding and abetting first-degree aggravated robbery and first-degree attempted aggravated robbery, along with second-degree assault. JEFFERSON DAVIS COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A man in Bassfield is dead, shot at least 10 times by a store owner he was allegedly trying to rob. Investigators say the owner, who was shot during the incident, was taken to Forrest General Hospital for surgery and is expected to recover. LeRobert Young of Bassfield, born in 1978, was pronounced dead at the scene. According to investigators, the gunman entered a Get and Go convenience story early Monday morning outside Bassfield in Jefferson Davis County on Highway 42 and demanded money.

The family of a kidnapped woman in Duson, La., Bethany Arceneaux, took justice into their own hands Friday when they rescued Arceneaux from her captor, Scott Thomas, killing Thomas in the scuffle that ensued. Family members of the two masked men shot to death after allegedly robbing a store in Reading spoke out Tuesday. "It's not fair," said Virginia Medina, mother of 24-year-old William Medina, who police said robbed Krick's Korner store alongside 18-year-old Robert De Carr on Monday. The two men were shot and killed by a private citizen while leaving the store, and family members want to see charges pressed. A local pastor pulled a gun on a man authorities say was trying to rob a clerk at an east side Dollar General Store. He was able to hold that man until authorities arrived. Pastor Carl Sanders and he simply says he was in the right place at the right time, just doing God's will. Pastor Sanders tells 14News that he went to the Dollar General Store on Lincoln Avenue for a Gatorade, but people are now calling him a hero.

Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office Deputies are checking Midlands hospitals for someone with a gunshot wound after a would-be burglar broke into an armed 85-year-old woman’s residence early Sunday. The locked-and-loaded Kennerly Road woman said she was awakened by her dog barking at about 2:15 a.m. She said she grabbed her handgun and went to investigate. Township officers got to the house in the 200 block of Heston Drive and found suspected burglar Matthew A. Fettis on the floor held at gunpoint by homeowner Joseph Eisel. INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A man was shot on the near south side of the city early Thursday morning during a home invasion. The incident occurred in the 1400 block of Kennington St around 4:50 a.m. According to a woman living in the house, the homeowner shot the intruder after the man entered their home with a crowbar. “She heard a noise like someone kicking in the door [and] then she heard a window bust in,” said Crystal Abbeduto, who said her mother, father and 22-year-old sister live in the home.
