The full details of Friday's clash between residents of the Jewish village of Adei Ad in Samaria and a delegation from the US Consulate in Jerusalem - which very nearly escalated into a fully-fledged shootout between the sides - are still emerging. But those details which have emerged so far paint a worrying picture regarding the conduct of Consulate staff - who either willingly took part in a planned provocation, or else, in a staggering show of irresponsibility and unprofessionalism, recklessly blundered into a volatile and potentially deadly situation without the slightest idea of what they were doing. Roughly two...

Directive outlines Obama’s policy to use the military against citizens. Well, it seems that my sources who reported at the time that the Bundy standoff was the subject of a meeting of under-secretaries of various cabinet departments (which I did not report, but awaited confirmation) were correct. It also makes more understandable the business of Oath Keepers and the rumor of military intervention, even if they were fed disinformation about a drone strike. A U.S. official said the Obama administration considered but rejected deploying military force under the directive during the recent standoff with Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy and his...

Minnesota sheriffs' offices issued almost double the number of permits to carry handguns in 2013 than they had the year before, according to figures released by the state Friday. It was the largest number since the state's permit-to-carry law was enacted in 2003. As of Friday, more than 165,000 people had valid permits to carry guns in Minnesota, according to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Andrew Rothman, Gun Owners Civil Rights Alliance president, estimates about 4 percent of adults eligible in Minnesota to obtain carry permits have them now. "Mostly, you'd never know it," he said. Armed men have seized the government buildings in the capital of the Ukraine’s Crimea region and hoisted a Russian flag over a barricade. The men occupying the parliament building in the regional capital, Simferopol, early on Thursday did not come out to voice any demands. They wore black and orange ribbons, a Russian symbol of the victory in World War II. The men also put up a sign saying “Crimea is Russia.” They threw a flash grenade in response to a journalist’s questions. Phone calls to region’s legislature rang unanswered, and its website was down.

ARGYLE — School board members voted unanimously a second time Wednesday to approve a controversial policy that will allow some teachers, administrators and other staff members to carry firearms on campus. The new vote also authorizes some school board members to carry concealed guns at board meetings or on school property, a provision that was not spelled out in details provided by the school district after the previous vote. A copy of the policy was not posted until after board members voted on the policy last week. Board President Kevin Faciane said the new vote was mostly “procedural in nature.”...

**SNIP** Organizers had also hoped that seeing a large peaceful gathering of armed citizens in the downtown of the country's seventh largest city would be a step toward making people comfortable with the sight. There were people of all ages in the crowd, including young children. Some waved flags that read "Come and Take It," others dressed in period costumes, but most looked like anyone else one might encounter on the street, they just happened to be carrying rifles. Men strolling through the streets with rifles isn't an image to which Hilary Rand thinks people should have to grow accustomed....

The Obama administration has turned bureaucrats at environmental agencies into armed SWAT teams to conduct unprecedented raids on small mining operations for what used to be simple reviews of clean water permits. Lamborn said the “EPA SWAT team of heavily armed and armored agents conducted paperwork inspections on small mining operations, in what appears nothing more than an...
