JERUSALEM – The belt strapped onto the donkey's body was laden with explosives, the Israeli military said in a statement. The animal was urged forward by Hamas militants, the army said, toward troops stationed near Rafah, inside the Gaza Strip. Israeli forces "engaged the donkey and it exploded at a safe distance,” the army wrote in a blog post. The statement condemned the use of “animals as explosives couriers.” Such beast-borne attacks have been seen before within the bitter confines of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The first such incident appears to have been in Gaza in 1995. But there were frequent...

New Levels Of Cruelty Reached by Arabs in Jerusalem Update: The source for this post is the “0404 News“, an internet based outlet that report predominantly about Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, IDF. More often than not, they are tipped directly by IDF and Police personnel about items, especially items that do not gain media attention, like rock throwing, firebombs, and other attacks on armed forces and civilians, often accompanied with private photos taken with their cellular phones. While I personally do not doubt the veracity of this report, it should be stated that as of now, no other news outlets...

DETROIT (WWJ) - A city employee came upon unspeakable horror while working on Detroit’s west side when he uncovered dozens of dead, frozen dogs. Dead dogs curled into fetal positions, covered in scars and lacerations — these are some of the graphic and grisly images taken at the River Rouge Park, along West Outer Drive between Plymouth Road and West Warren Avenue. CBS Detroit opted not to post the photos because of their graphic nature. Detroit Animal Welfare Group (DAWG) board member Nicole Litzelman said at least 28 large dogs, mostly pit bulls and Mastiff mixes, were found only when...

On Feb 9th 2011, you were evicted from an apartment at 20 Catherine St and your old red pit bull was seized by animal control and taken to the kill shelter. She was really skinny and had bad skin infections, and had been bred A LOT. She'd even had a Caesarian, judging by the scar. They said at the kill shelter she was 12 years old. She also had a lopsided face and it looked like there were a few cigarette burns on her head/ears.

A Cupertino woman considers it a miracle that her 3-year-old pit bull, Hammy, is still right by her side. Last month, Hammy was rushed to a 24-hour emergency animal clinic in Campbell after she ate what turned out to be tainted food. Emily Aldrich, Hammy's owner, said the incident occurred when she let the dog outside to go to the bathroom. She later found Hammy munching on something from a bag of food. The food was strips of beef laced with Strychnine pellets in a Ziplock bag. Strychnine is a common type of gopher poison. Minutes after Hammy ate the...

The August death of the 4-year-old has sparked violence against animals in a country where laws protecting them are already week. So far, a dog had its snout hacked off, a litter of puppies was wrapped up and burned to death, and cats have had their spines snapped by cruel revenge-seekers. Four Paws animal charity said it had registered 15 savage attacks in the six weeks after the boy's death — compared to just six cases in the previous nine months.

Palestinians Injured While Torturing Cattle At least 125 Palestinians in Gaza were wounded while torturing and slaughtering cattle in the streets as part of the Muslim holiday of Eid al Adha, Palestinian media reported. Gaza has five official slaughterhouses, but wait times were hours long, so a great many Gazans decided to do their own public butchering for the holiday, which is typically accompanied by much feasting. But, as videos and pictures posted to the Internet revealed, many of the Palestinians did not contend themselves to simply slaughtering the animals, but first engaged in what can only be described as...

The bad news is that governments do a lot of things they shouldn’t do. The good news is that I never run out of material.I’ve even created some sub-categories, such as my U.S. vs U.K. government stupidity contest and my great-moments-in-local-government series. But I never thought I would have a special category about bureaucrats vs. Bambi.1. Bureaucrats in Virginia filed three misdemeanor charges against a man for the horrible crime of rescuing a deer that was hit by a car.2. Bureaucrats in Maryland fined two men $90 each for not having life jackets when they had the gall to rescue a...

HENRY COUNTY, Mo. (KMOX) – Who would cut the tongues and take the reproductive organs from several cows? That’s the mystery police in a small town 90 miles away from Kansas City are dealing with. “We couldn’t see any signs of trauma, and it doesn’t appear that there was any type of wild animal, such coyotes, that were involved,” Hills told KMOX. The next two discovered on July 9th and 19th of this year had their tongues removed along with their udders, anus, reproductive organs, and ears. Mitchell said the veterinarian told her the cuts to the cow were precise...
