LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - Pulaski County authorities are searching for a man who escaped custody Monday morning in downtown Little Rock. Castro Hernandez, 29, was being taken to the Pulaski County courthouse for a hearing on rape charges when he escaped. Witnesses say they saw Castro running from authorities. First, the President should take swift action to ensure that migrant children with parents or other immediate relatives in the U.S. are not torn away from their families and sent back to Central America. This year, more than 30,000 children have been released into the custody of sponsors, who are often their parents or relatives. But if a child is ultimately unable to secure asylum or other relief, she will nevertheless be deported. This policy is morally misguided. -snip The amount of foreign aid that we currently provide to Central America is paltry. According to the government’s website ForeignAssistance.gov, U.S....

MCALLEN, Texas — Border Patrol agents seized more than $650,000 in cash that had been left behind near the Rio Grande River that separates Texas from Mexico. The seizure was made Thursday night when U.S. Border Patrol Agents following a set of footprints near Sullivan City ended up coming across four backpacks filled with bulk cash and a little more than a kilo of cocaine, an agency news release shows. Inside the four backpacks the agents ended up finding a mixture of dollars and pesos that added up to $650,000 as well as the cocaine which had a value of...

On the Friday broadcast of “The McLaughlin Group,” columnist Pat Buchanan predicted that President Obama would grant amnesty to illegal immigrants via executive order by Labor Day and that such an action would “set the country completely on fire.” After Washington Examiner Chief Congressional Correspondent Susan Ferrechio argued that “Democrats could gain from Hispanic voters turning out, especially if the president decides to take key executive actions in this summer that would help Hispanics who are here in the country, perhaps living here illegally. That could boost popularity for the party,” Buchanan responded “executive amnesty will set the country completely...

Strong majorities of both Hispanics and Blacks think the government should do more to secure the border and give job-hungry Americans the chance to do jobs currently taken by illegal aliens, a new national poll of likely voters shows. Fully 63% of Hispanics and 57% of Blacks say the government is not doing enough to enforce U.S. immigration laws, according to the survey by The Polling Company, Inc. Likewise, 78% of Whites and 74% of all respondents want tighter border security. What’s more, 71% of Blacks and 63% of Hispanics believe the government “has a responsibility” to protect job-hungry Americans...

Democratic State Representative and candidate for U.S. representative Pat Murphy said Tuesday that if the underage migrants who have come to the U.S. from Central America aren’t given a “pathway for citizenship” they could become terrorists. Speaking with Iowa Public Radio host Ben Kieffer, Murphy said that “we need to make sure that we take care of the children that are coming up here.” “They’re not from Mexico, they’re coming from further south,” Murphy continued. “We need to make sure that when we’re talking about these children we need to treat them like they’re our children or our grandchildren. Coalition says Obama administration policies to deal with influx at border is unfair to women and children who flee to safety. A coalition of immigrant rights groups have filed a lawsuit challenging the federal government’s expedited deportation process, claiming that it is unfair to women and children who flee Central America to seek safety in the US. The groups claim the Obama administration’s new policies have created a “deportation mill” at a new government family detention center in Artesia, New Mexico. “It is my favorite docket, the juveniles,” Immigration Judge John Milo Bryant says, unprompted, as he hears the case of 15-year-old Christian Hernandez, a recent illegal arrival from Honduras. Bryant, the gregarious judge overseeing 38 juvenile cases in Arlington, Va., Immigration Court on a Tuesday morning, commends Christian for his “perfect English.” Christian, a good-looking youth who flashes a sure smile, keeps his hair gelled into a Mohawk and wears a button-up shirt and slacks fastened by a gray Nike belt, tells Bryant he will begin high school in a few weeks. At this first immigration hearing for Christian —...

There is no doubt that the Latino electorate is becoming increasingly important in presidential elections and will become even more so in the future. Today, one in six Americans are of Latino descent. By 2050, that number will be one in three. ......................................................... At a time when one-fourth of all kindergarten age children in the country are Latino, and when the majority of births are children of color, the Republican Party had better find a way to embrace policies that do not demonize the government that is currently seen as a partner of the communities they need to reach.

The Defense Department on Friday pushed back against Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s (R) claim that fighters from the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) might have entered the United States across its southern border. Perry, who is weighing another run for the president in 2016, made the assertion Thursday during a speech at the conservative Heritage Foundation. "There's the obvious great concern that, because of the condition of the border from the standpoint of it not being secure, and us not knowing who is penetrating across, that individuals from ISIS or other terrorist states could be [crossing]," he said....

Via the Daily Signal. Easy prediction: This soundbite will inspire lots of scoffing and sneering without even a bare attempt at an argument on the merits for why he must be wrong. “There’s the obvious great concern that because of the condition of the border from the standpoint of it not being secure and us not knowing who is penetrating across, that individuals from ISIS or other terrorist states could be [crossing the border] — and I think there is a very real possibility that they may have already used that,” he said…“We have no clear evidence of that...

After almost six years of pretending, Barack Hussein Obama has revealed himself to be our Golfer-In-Chief. Presidents, real presidents, are supposed to be the people who make tough decisions sometimes with very little notice. They have to be ready with ideas to safeguard Americans abroad and secure domestic tranquility at home. By these standards Barack Hussein Obama has been a miserable failure. He has continued to do what is wrong so often that only those who will directly benefit by the death march he is putting America through are left to defend him. In our streets his voters who are...

A new letter from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) admits that illegal aliens were being allowed to board planes using Notice to Appear forms they received after entering the U.S. illegally. The revelation directly contradicts a TSA statement last month denying such allegations to various media outlets, including Breitbart News. In July Breitbart Texas... broke the news that the TSA was letting illegal aliens board planes using Notice to Appear forms; subsequently, a TSA spokesperson publicly attacked Darby on Twitter, insisting that his report was "completely wrong." The newly-surfaced TSA letter was penned on August 7, according to the Gateway...

Most of us, even many Democrats these days, are beginning to acknowledge the complete foreign policy failure of our president (for an overview see Bret Stephens’ The Meltdown in Commentary), but we still have to deal with over two years of Obama and we have a serious problem that needs to be handled immediately. We could die. Not all of us but a lot of us. And our society as we know it could be destroyed. Sound apocalyptic and a little overwrought? Well, it is apocalyptic, but not so overwrought. Surely you saw the Islamic State video with that...

The relationship between drug trafficking and terrorism has long existed, and can take many forms depending on the goals and needs of each party. Sometimes hybrid criminal-terrorist organizations form in which terrorist groups become involved in the drug trade to fund operations, purchase equipment, and pay foot soldiers. In return, they provide safe passageways for the drugs and give traffickers tips for circumventing customs and security forces. Other times a localized criminal organization or terrorist group lacks expertise, so increased contacts and business with major drug cartels helps advance the sophistication of their operation. Ultimately, though, both have logistical needs...

Mitt Romney and his former running mate, Paul Ryan, will be making their first public appearance together since losing to Obama/Biden two years ago. Ryan is traveling the country to promote a book and is also said to be considering a run for the White House himself. Ryan's book has met some criticism given its handling of the immigration issue - which is increasingly being exposed as a stone cold loser of an issue in the very mid-term elections Ryan suggested it be used by...

Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) believes the jihadist group the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS or ISIL) may have already sent militants across the U.S.-Mexican border. Perry was directly asked about this prospect Thursday afternoon after he gave a border-security speech at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank. Perry, a potential 2016 presidential candidate who spent much of the speech castigating ISIS after the group brutally executed an American journalist earlier this week, said there was "a very real" risk they were already inside the U.S. "There’s the obvious great concern that because of the condition of...

Another “pocket of resistance?” LOL! I can see “Welcoming America” scurrying to Athens at this very minute! In July we reported on a plan by US State Department contractor—International Rescue Committee (IRC)—to open an office and begin resettling Congolese refugees to Athens, GA. Now comes news (hat tip: Joanne) that the Democratic mayor, Nancy Denson, is throwing cold water on the scheme by asking the IRC to “present a formal refugee integration plan.” That is exactly what every town or city faced with this crisis (yes, a crisis when a refugee contractor comes to your town!) should do—demand a plan...
