Credit for the initial concept that developed into the World Wide Web is typically given to Leonard Kleinrock. In 1961, he wrote about ARPANET, the predecessor of the Internet, in a paper entitled "Information Flow in Large Communication Nets." Kleinrock, along with other innnovators such as J.C.R. Licklider, the first director of the Information Processing Technology Office (IPTO), provided the backbone for the ubiquitous stream of emails, media, Facebook postings and tweets that are now shared online every day. Here, then, is a brief history of the Internet: The precursor to the Internet was jumpstarted in the early days of...

Yes, it's late May and it's still snowing in eastern Canada and more snow may fall this weekend in both Canada and the U.S. An unusual out-of-season snowfall resulted in some unbelievable pictures in Newfoundland and New Brunswick this week. Although snow in May does happen here, this is a rare snowfall so late in May....

Speaking to 2018 graduates at the University of Maryland on Sunday, it wasn’t until 19 minutes into a 22-minute speech that former Vice President Al Gore mentioned President Donald Trump’s name. But his address nonetheless marked a commencement ceremony that pushed graduates to fight what both Gore and university President Wallace Loh described as challenges to American democracy. Gore, nowadays best known for his advocacy to fight global warming that earned him a Nobel Prize in 2007, urged the graduates to vote in large numbers in the coming years, suggesting that America’s “experiment” with the Trump administration should, like some...

Meteorological authority prepares draft law to ban unauthorised forecasts Donald Trump may routinely rail against the “fake news media”, but Egypt is going one better by cracking down on “fake” weather reports. The head of the Egyptian Meteorological Authority has said it is the only government body authorised to make predictions about the country’s weather, and is preparing a draft law to ban unauthorised forecasts. Ahmed Abdel-Al, the EMA chairman, said during a television interview that the bill seeks to punish anyone “talking about meteorology, or anyone using a weather forecasting device without our consent, or anyone who raises confusion...

The United States is at the brink of a widespread environmental revolution, former Vice President and environmental advocate Al Gore said at an event Monday afternoon in Gaston Hall. “We are now in the beginning stages of a global sustainability revolution,” Gore said. “It has the magnitude of the industrial revolution but the speed of the digital revolution.” Gore attributed the prospect of a high speed environmental revolution to increased technological capabilities. “It’s powered by new digital tools like the Internet of Things and machine learning and artificial intelligence that are giving CEOs and executive teams the ability to manage...

"Now I really believe Al Gore when he says that global warming causes extreme cold. Perfectly logical..... since the cold is reportedly worldwide...." Just imagining that it really was Al Gore with a beard of icicles that could be seen in the snow squalls now coming in over Lake Huron, when this tongue-in-cheek Global Warming Report came in from professional photographer, pilot and farmer friend Don Klein out west: “Amazing. First April since 1895 (not sure how accurate the history of recording temperatures were back then, but gives a good idea) when every day so far, Province Wide, has been...

A Boston judge has cleared a group of climate protesters who were facing criminal charges stemming from a 2016 protest over a pipeline in West Roxbury, citing the necessity of their actions in a potentially landmark ruling. “It may well be the first of its kind in a case involving climate change, in that it’s a judicial recognition of the measures that we need to take to address climate change,” said Andrew Fischer, an attorney for some of the defendants. “In that sense, it is a revolutionary step.” The protesters, including Karenna Gore, the daughter of former Vice President Al...

Climate change triggering ‘flying rivers, rain bombs’, Gore warns Former US vice-president tells GESF delegates in Dubai large areas in Middle East could become uninhabitable Dubai: Bizarre weather such as “flying rivers” and “rain bombs” are just some of the recent effects of climate change, warned former US vice-president Al Gore at the Global Education and Skills Forum (GESF) in Dubai on Sunday. Gore, who is the founder and chairman of The Climate Reality Project, a non-profit establishment “devoted to solving the climate crisis”, told GESF delegates global weather is becoming “extreme” and “disruptive”, mainly because of global warming. Gore...

Hope you're all staying warm this Ides of March? A bit chilly where you are? I suspect Algore is becoming a tad frosty AND grumpy since his Globalist, NWO GLOBALONEY WARMING SCAM is falling apart before his eyes. Not to worry about old Al. The $500 million or so he's scammed over the years will allow him to stay snug - not to mention crazy - as the proverbial bedbug he's become. (Am I the only voter who believes that Trump has understood all that from the get go and why he pulled out of the Paris Accord and will...

New Book: The Politically Incorrect Guide to Climate Change," By Marc Morano - Available at Amazon & Barnes & Noble Excerpt: 'Gore would have personally benefited if the carbon cap-and-trade bill he supported had become law. The media never treated his Congressional testimony in support of the climate bills for what it actually was—a former vice president supporting legislation that would make him richer.' 'Al Gore Is by Far the Most Lavishly Funded Fossil Fuel Player in the Global Warming Debate Today.' "Warren Buffett’s vice chairman Charlie Munger told a small meeting of investors in 2017 that Gore is 'not...

Former Vice President Al Gore went on the record against the Trump administration’s plan to open most U.S. offshore areas to oil and gas drilling, instead supporting New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s plan to pump more taxpayer funds into green energy. “Governor Cuomo is demonstrating outstanding leadership in helping to solve the climate crisis and building a sustainable future,” Gore said at New York University on Friday, standing on stage with Cuomo, a Democrat. Cuomo announced a $1.4 billion plan Friday to fund 26 green energy projects. The governor unveiled plans in February to develop $6 billion worth of offshore...

The U.S. is still on schedule to meet its obligations under the Paris Climate Agreement despite its decision to pull out of the accord, Gore said Thursday"Several governors of our largest states, hundreds of cities and thousands of U.S. businesses are now ensuring that the U.S. will not only meet but exceed the commitments it made under the Paris Agreement," Gore, who was speaking on a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, said Thursday. Under the agreement, reached at the end of 2015, world leaders committed to making sure global warming stays "well below" two degrees Celsius...

U.S. Navy’s Newest Littoral Combat Ship Stuck in Ice for Winter January 24, 2018 by gCaptain The U.S. Navy’s newest Littoral Combat Ship, USS Little Rock, will have to spend its winter up north instead of Florida’s warmer waters after the ship became stuck in ice in Montreal. The USS Little Rock, which was commissioned in Buffalo, New York on December 16, should be well on its new homeport in Mayport, Florida by now, but a delayed departure and colder-than-normal temps across the region means the ship is now stuck in Montreal indefinitely.

Is climate change losing its luster as an issue for the Hollywood left? Or have so many "Inconvenient Truths" about global warming been debunked that it has forced Hollywood into an embarrassed silence? The sequel to Al Gore's 2006 documentary An Inconvenient Truth released in 2017 and titled An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power, failed to pick up a single Oscar nomination. The 2006 film won "Best Documentary" and "Best Song."

The Pentagon scrubbed its latest National Defense Strategy of all references to climate change, an Orwellian rhetorical shift away from a scientific reality at an agency that has long avoided the issue’s politics. A summary document released Friday morning makes no mention of “climate,” “warming,” “planet,” “sea levels” or even “temperature.” All 22 uses of the word “environment” refer to the strategic or security landscape. The 11-page memo, signed by Defense Secretary James Mattis, is the first update to the policy in a decade. It’s unlikely the Department of Defense will release a full National Defense Strategy report; instead, the...

We road into Cheyenne around sunset yesterday. Cheyenne, Wyoming - elevation 6062 feet - in the middle of January; it was 57 degrees. No snow anywhere, not in the air, on the wind or on the ground. It was clear and balmy. And I am truly grateful that the only place in Wyoming Al Gore would ever consider going is Jackson Hole – they don’t mind the snow this time of year.I can only tell you that this year’s trip has been much better than any number of the nightmarish winter journeys we’ve been on before global warming. So if...

This Siberian village's thermometer broke last night because of how cold it was. Oymyakon, in the Siberian region of Yakutia, is the coldest inhabited village on Earth. Each winter, it records some of the world's lowest temperatures and the town seems frozen in time. On 14 January, Oymyakon got so cold, its brand new thermometer broke after reaching a mind numbing -62C, reports the Siberian Times. In comparison, the only other places to get this cold or colder are unpopulated areas of Antarctica. But locals have reported temperatures far colder than the official -62C on their properties, thanks to their...

WASHINGTON — Once considered a long shot among a dozen or more potential running mates for Al Gore, Sen. Richard Durbin has emerged as one of a few serious contenders, Democratic strategists say. Sen. Durbin confirms meeting once and talking twice by telephone in recent weeks with former Secretary of State Warren Christopher, who is conducting the vice-presidential search process for the Gore campaign. "Is he on the list? Yes," says a senior Democratic Party official from the Midwest with close ties to the campaign. "Is he strong? Absolutely." While he once laughed off the veepstakes speculation, Sen. Durbin now...
