NEW YORK – The Obamacare architect at the center of controversy for his frank admissions that passing the president’s signature legislation required lying to the American people published a paper during the Clinton administration observing that legalizing abortion saved the government $14 billion in assistance to economically disadvantaged mothers, including African Americans, and lowered crime.MIT economics professor Jonathan Gruber argued in his paper that without the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, “marginal children” would have been born to many poor mothers. He said statistics show these children would have been 70 percent more likely to live in a single-parent family,...

Parents at a Near West Side school say they are "shocked" and "horrified" after viewing a new sex education curriculum intended for fifth-graders, saying the way the information is presented is over the top and not age-appropriate. SNIP But some of the information disturbed parents at the meeting, leading one to snap photos of five pages in the binder that included a lesson plan for fifth-graders. One of the pages, titled "Feel Good Reasons to Use FCs [Female Condoms]," included how to make sexual intercourse last longer and read: "Once you pop, you don't have to stop!" The page included...

The American Life League released an amusing video this week chronicling the “Planned Parenthood rejects” of 2014. The bottom line is that this year, American voters rejected the Planned Parenthood agenda and sided with pro-life values. Planned Parenthood catalyzed the campaign of failed Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis. If elected, Davis would have undoubtedly been good for PP’s business in Texas, as she demonstrated when she stood for eleven hours trying to filibuster a pro-life bill that the vast majority of Texans backed in 2013. Instead, Texas voters elected the 100% pro-life, Texas Right to Life-endorsed candidate Greg Abbott by...

Operation Rescue is asking the Ohio Department of Health to conduct a thorough investigation into whether Ohio abortionist Thomas W. Michaelis may have engaged in improper sexual conduct with patients at the Toledo Women’s Center abortion clinic. The request was made in a letter to the director of the Ohio Department of health Richard Hodges dated November 13, 2014. Michaelis was indicted last week by a federal grand jury on two criminal counts related to possessing and distributing child pornography. He was arrested on Monday and is being held without bail at the Lucas County Correctional Center in Toledo, Ohio,...

Most unborn children diagnosed in the womb with Down syndrome are aborted and never given a chance to live their lives. Part of the problem is a culture that wrongly believes people with Down syndrome are less valuable than others. An incident at a store where a mother of a two-year-old with the genetic condition had to deal with a cashier prejudiced against children with Down syndrome reinforced that problematic pro-abortion stereotype.A blogger named Sherry wrote on her blog about an incident with her two-year-old son Gabe (right), who has Down syndrome. Sherry wrote on her blog “Hand Me Downs”...

One Chicago abortion clinic said the following on a brochure aimed at women considering abortions at the clinic: “From admission to recovery, patient ease and comfort are first considerations. She is encouraged to ask questions, share feelings or misgivings.” These were the actual instructions given to the clinic workers: “1. Don’t tell [the] patient. The abortion will hurt. 2. Don’t discuss [the abortion] procedure or the instruments to be used in any detail. 3. Don’t answer too many questions. Pamela Zekman and Pamela Warrick “The Abortion Profiteers” Chicago Sun-Times November 12, 1978 This article was from a long time ago...

New Jersey abortionist Steven Chase Brigham has been ordered to pay $420,000 to the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners to cover the cost of prosecuting him. That decision was made today at a scheduled Board meeting. “It is our hope that all of Brigham’s assets will be seized and sold to cover this order, including all the equipment in his seventeen abortion facilities,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “Given all the human misery he has caused over years of botched abortions and other illicit practices, the time for leniency is long past.” Brigham’s last remaining medical license was...

The Obamacare architect that dares not speak its name. At least from the lips of Democrats who nowadays are pretending to have little or no knowledge of Jonathan Gruber. The most prominent of the Gruber denialists is House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi quoted by Washington Post reporter Sean Sullivan whose story headline also featured this denial: "I don't know who he is. He didn't help write our bill." Gee. If Nancy Pelosi said that then it must be true! If you think me a bit too credulous for accepting Pelosi denial without checking her veracity, well that is exactly what...

Fresh from their overwhelming victory on Election Day, handing them control of the Senate over pro-abortion Democrats led by Harry Reid, Senate Republicans have unanimously elected pro-life Senator Mitch McConnell as their leader. McConnell, hailing from Kentucky, has promised the Senate will vote on a House-passed bill that bans abortions after 5 months because scientific research shows unborn children can feel pain at that point in pregnancy. The Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act: bans abortions after the 20th week of pregnancy and would save at least 18,000 lives a year. McConnell previously pledged that if his party won the...

Pro-life leaders say a federal judge must recuse himself from hearing a legal challenge to a case that could make Cincinnati abortion-free, because he once served as president of the local Planned Parenthood chapter. U.S. District Judge Timothy S. Black has been chosen to hear Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio Region v. Hodges – a lawsuit seeking to invalidate an Ohio law requiring abortionists to have admitting privileges at a local hospital within 30 miles of their office. The law, signed by Gov. John Kasich, also forbade public hospitals from providing admitting privileges to abortion providers. Since most private hospitals in...

Opponents of Amendment 1 are asking a federal judge to void the vote that amended the Tennessee Constitution to make it easier for lawmakers to restrict abortions. In a lawsuit filed late Friday in federal court, plaintiffs say the state ignored the plain language of the constitution, which says it can be amended by “a majority of all the citizens in the state voting for governor, voting in … favor” of the amendment. The plaintiffs want the judge to order the state to count only those Amendment 1 votes where the voters also cast ballots for governor. If that is...

While Hillary Clinton supports abortion on demand in the United States for any unborn child, another Hilary (spelled with one “L”) out of the UK has emerged with a positive message for life.In an interview with the pro-life disabled woman uploaded by a pro-life group out of the UK, Hilary McDowel says that she feels called to be a voice for the unborn baby. When (pro-life) Hilary was born doctors told her mother “Take her home and love her and bury her because even if she did live she would have no quality of life.”Today, although she still has some problems...

Ohio abortion provider Thomas William Michaelis, 69, has been indicted on Federal charges of receiving and distributing child pornography. According to a local news report, an investigation involving the Secret Service and the Sylvania, Ohio, Police Department was conducted between January and May, 2014, while Michaelis worked as an abortionist at Toledo’s Capital Care Network. thomasmichaelisMichaelis was said to have “retired” in May, 2014, but in reality, the Ohio Medical Board permanently revoked his medical license at that time, noting a documented history of sexual deviancy dating back at nearly 25 years. In 1991, the Ohio Medical Board cited Michaelis...

Don’t expect to see any breakout sessions on the bumper sticker “You Can’t Be Both Catholic and Pro-Choice” at the meeting this week of the U.S. Roman Catholic bishops in Baltimore. And you probably won’t be allowed to take part in any discussions about clarity from the bishops regarding how Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Patrick Murphy can be both Catholic and pro-abortion. The demoted Cardinal Raymond Burke, former St. Louis archbishop, is saying the church “is like a ship without a rudder” under Pope Francis. (1) The Illinois Catholic Conference of state church leaders called abortion and related issues...

Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary describes “euphemism†as a “mild or pleasant word or phrase that is used instead of one that is unpleasant or offensive.†This always has been - and I am certain always will be - one of the strongest weapons the culture of death will use to contain and keep hidden their lies. For example, the name Planned Parenthood sounds pleasant, but if you really describe what happens there, you discover they don’t help people plan parenthood at all. They end parenthood for all who walk through their doors. They hide behind their pretty name to mask that...

Council members in Rossville unanimously passed two ordinances Monday night -- one to forbid abortion clinics within Rossville city limits, and one to help keep "pill mills" out of the city. In a work meeting before they would sign the ordinances, council members asked Rossville Mayor Teddy Harris what had prompted these two ordinances to come up. He said a town resident had come to him asking if the methadone clinic in the city was legal. That clinic is, but Harris said the question got him thinking about other businesses they might wish to keep outside of Rossville. He said...

As LifeNews previously reported, pro-abortion Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid lost his position when pro-life candidates took over the U.S. Senate. This is very good for the pro-life movement because Reid has repeatedly supported pro-abortion President Barack Obama. He’s also refused to allow pro-life bills to come to a vote in the Senate. In 2013, after the passage of the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (H.R 1797) through the U.S House of Representatives, Reid said that we shouldn’t focus on “fringe issues” like late abortion. However, he failed to realize it is those who support late abortion that are...

The rest of conservative America may be celebrating, but for the Personhood movement, it is time for some sober analysis. Tuesday’s election results were certainly not good for pro-abortion Democrats, but they were even worse for the Personhood movement. I have to admit that my own predictions were off and I am sorely disappointed. After the defeat of Measure 1 in North Dakota by an unexpectedly wide vote of 64-36 and of the Brady Amendment in Colorado by an almost identical margin of 65-35, it isn’t an overstatement to say that the statewide personhood ballot measure is dead for now. Here’s why.  In 2011, when personhood...

Sometimes I forget, because Gabe is just that — Gabe. When I look at him I don’t see Down syndrome, I see my son, Abi’s brother — a sweet, willful, determined little boy. Sometimes I forget, and that makes it even harder when someone reminds me in a not so kind way. Like the cashier who gave me sad eyes and spit poison in a whisper, “I bet you wish you had known before he came out. You know they have a test for that now…” Shock, horror, hurt and fury coursed through my body. I considered jerking her over...
