In his first interview as president-elect, Donald Trump pledged that he will accept as little of the presidential salary as he can get away with. “I think I have to by law take $1, so I’ll take $1 a year,” he told CBS’s Leslie Stahl. “$400,000 you’re giving up,” she responded, as if this were some sort of public-spirited sacrifice.

On Friday, I almost assaulted a fan of my work. I was in the Philadelphia International Airport, and a man who recognized me from one of my appearances on a television news show approached. He thanked me for the investigative reporting I had done about Donald Trump before the election, expressed his outrage that the Republican nominee had won and then told me quite gruffly, “Get back to work.” Something about his arrogance struck me, so I asked, “Who did you vote for?” He replied, “Well, Stein, but—” I interrupted him and said, “You’re lucky it’s illegal for me to...

PORTLAND, Ore. — More than 70 percent of the 112 protesters arrested in Portland last week didn’t vote in Oregon, according to state election records. The other approximately 30 percent did cast a ballot in Oregon or in another state. At least seventy-nine demonstrators either didn’t turn in a ballot or weren’t registered to vote in the state. Following Tuesday's presidential election of Donald Trump, thousands of people took to the streets in downtown Portland for five straight notes. The activity included at least one night that the police declared to be a riot, with more than $1 million in...

Why has Rudy Giuliani emerged as President-elect Donald Trump's prospect for State, the most coveted job in the administration? Though Giuliani has little foreign policy experience, Trump insiders say Giuliani had few other options, and that Trump had to reward his most loyal, high-level supporter. Trump transition officials and Giuliani himself has confided to friends there was little chance he could be confirmed by the Senate, which, under cloture rules, would still require Democratic support.

You know the big stuff already: Donald Trump won the presidency, defeating Hillary Clinton by bursting through her leaky blue firewall.... Meanwhile, here are three lower-profile results that are worth noting: (1) Oregon's Democratic Secretary of State went down to defeat, marking the first GOP victory in a statewide election in 14 years. More significantly, the loser of this race was known to many as the infamous bully who led the charge to fine a Christian-owned bakery $144,000 for declining to provide services to a same-sex wedding... (2) In Colorado, voters absolutely demolished a ballot initiative to create a government-run,...

PORTLAND, Ore. — More than half of the anti-Trump protesters arrested in Portland didn’t vote in Oregon, according to state election records. At least sixty-nine demonstrators either didn’t turn in a ballot or weren’t registered to vote in the state. KGW compiled a list of the 112 people arrested by the Portland Police Bureau during recent protests. Those names and ages, provided by police, were then compared to state voter logs by Multnomah County Elections officials.

Breitbart News is preparing a lawsuit against a "major media company" over claims that it is a white nationalist website, it said in an exclusive statement to The Hill. The website has been under intense scrutiny since President-elect Donald Trump named Stephen Bannon as a senior White House counselor and strategist. Bannon is the former executive chairman of Breitbart News, and the site has become associated with the “alt-right” movement that helped propel Trump’s candidacy. "Breitbart News Network, a pro-America, conservative website, is preparing a multi-million dollar lawsuit against a major media company for its baseless and defamatory claim that...

“You can expect to see CBP pushing back and holding those people,” said Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council. “They’re going to want to make it look like they’re in lockstep with [Trump] … We’re already seeing it now.” Judd said the processing center at Nogales, Arizona, is set to open soon, and he added that he expects other processing centers to open, as well, in order to increase detention capacity. Career-level supervisors will be more worried about offending the incoming administration than the outgoing one, Judd said.

Democrats are taking solace in the fact that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote in the 2016 election. Some supporters are even using this fact to implore Trump's electors to overturn the result of the electoral college and install Clinton as the rightful president. And Trump himself on Sunday night reiterated that he preferred the popular-vote method: "I’m not going to change my mind just because I won. But I would rather see it where you went with simple votes." The reactions to that comment were similar — that Trump would have lost the election under his own preferred format!...

Virginia Congressman Dave Brat is urging a delay of Tuesday’s leadership election. Before lawmakers cast their vote, candidates for GOP leadership ought to identify the specific policy agenda they plan to enact in response to the mandate that the American people gave Congress with the election of President-elect Donald Trump, Brat says. Brat explained that Speaker Ryan’s “Better Way” agenda is not what “animated this historic insurgent election”. He also noted that while Speaker Ryan may not have been “listening to the voices of the forgotten and downtrodden American workers,” some conservative members of Congress were paying attention and have...

That will change,” proclaimed Trump. “So many good things come out of it, including great jobs. That will change very quickly under a Trump administration and it’ll change before it’s too late.”

Donald Trump is already eyeing ways for the U.S. to pull out of the landmark Paris climate agreement that the Obama administration formally signed on to in September, according to Reuters. A source on Trump’s transition team told Reuters that the president-elect wants to bypass the stipulation in the agreement that calls for a four-year process for a country to exit the accord. "It was reckless for the Paris agreement to enter into force before the election," the source said.
