  • Watchdog: IRS erased backups after loss of tea party emails

WASHINGTON (AP) — IRS employees erased computer backup tapes a month after officials discovered that thousands of emails related to the tax agency's tea party scandal had been lost, according to government investigators. The investigators, however, concluded that employees erased the tapes by mistake, not as part of an attempt to destroy evidence. As many as 24,000 emails were lost because 422 backup tapes were erased, according to J. Russell George, the Treasury inspector general for tax administration. The revelation is likely to fuel conspiracy theories among conservatives who say the IRS has obstructed congressional investigations into the scandal. George...
  • MITT ROMNEY: TAKE DOWN THE CONFEDERATE FLAG, IT’S ‘A SYMBOL OF RACIAL HATRED’

On June 20 former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney called for South Carolina to remove the Confederate flag from their state Capitol grounds in Columbia. His call comes in the wake of the heinous attack on Charleston’s Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church. It follows a photo of the suspected gunman, Dylann Roof, in which Roof is seen leaning against his car with a Confederate flag license plate visible on the front of his vehicle being widely circulated. Here were Romney’s exact words: “Take down the Confederate Flag at the SC Capitol. To many, it is a symbol of racial hatred....

Former Massachusetts Gov. and 2012 GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney said he thinks former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush would probably like a mulligan on the recent question on the 2003 invasion of Iraq but said that Mr. Bush is a “very capable person” who could raise more money than all the other GOP presidential contenders put together. “Well, I’m sure he would have liked to have taken it back and get the answer out at the end that he gave and put that at the very beginning, and I think he did misunderstand the question,” Mr. Romney said in an...

Would conservatives support a presidential bid by David Petraeus? The Iraq surge architect isn't a candidate. But for years prominent conservatives from Rep. Peter King to Andrew Breitbart have touted the soldier-scholar as a dream conservative candidate to take on Barack Obama. The question is, if Petraeus had run, would his service in the Obama administration -- first as head of U.S. Central Command, then as Commander of U.S. Forces in Afghanistan and now as CIA Director -- have counted against him? It's safe to say conservatives wouldn't have re-purposed the old "General Betray-Us" moniker for the man who has...

Many readers are scratching their heads over my endorsement of Ron Paul last week. One writes: Let me add a few more reasons to vote for Ron Paul: If you want all federal student aid eliminated, vote Paul. If you want the Department of Energy, Commerce, Interior, Education and Housing & Urban Development eliminated, vote Paul. If you want the department of Transportation Security Administration eliminated (meaning security is the sole responsibility of private property owners), vote Paul. You can't just ignore Paul's "nuttier policy proposals". These proposals are Paul. If you endorse Ron Paul, you're endorsing his proposals. There...

Jacksonville, Florida (CNN) - The Tampa Tribune endorsed Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, who the newspaper said is an “innovative problem-solver with rock-hard conservative credentials,” over Mitt Romney, whom it called the “safer choice.” Sunday’s endorsement from the city’s second-largest newspaper that leans conservative comes two days before Florida’s primary election in which Romney is favored to win. Despite potential areas of weakness from the former House speaker, the editorial said Gingrich is the best Republican candidate to “take the fight” to President Barack Obama. “Sure, he can be grandiose. His personal life has been, to put it kindly, complicated....

Turns out tape cuts out part of controversial Romney answer. David Corn of Mother Jones released the “complete” audio and video of the secretly recorded Mitt Romney speech at a private fundraiser. Yet the complete audio and video is not complete. There is a gap in the recording immediately after Romney’s now famous discussion of the 47% of voters who don’t pay taxes. The cut in the audio and video comes while Romney is in mid-sentence, so we actually do not have the full audio of what Romney said on the subject. The next audio/video (Part 2) picks up with...

BOMBSHELL! Newly Released Emails Reveal Obama Admin’s Reaction to Benghazi April 29, 2014 By Greg Campbell Emails obtained by Judicial Watch have revealed that the top priority after the Benghazi terrorist attack was not national security nor was it ensuring a proper investigation into who orchestrated an attack on our consulate that left four Americans dead. No, the priority of top advisors in the earliest days after the Benghazi attack was ensuring that President Obama “looked good” prior the 2012 election. As part of a Freedom of Information Lawsuit, the Obama Administration released nearly 100 pages of documents to Judicial...

This is a side comment about something Rush said the other day: Santorum won 57 out of 83 counties. That's an incredible percentage, and it reminds me of the map of the United States, red and blue by county, when you look at that after a presidential race. The whole country is red (signifying Republican) except LA, San Francisco, Seattle, Miami, Washington, New York, Boston, Chicago and Detroit. The Republicans win 80% of America's counties and lose the White House. Santorum won 57 out of 83 counties. And, as of now, Santorum, while losing the popular vote, has won seven...

They tell us that they did not vote for Obama BUT: 1. They want him to succeed. 2. He seems to be a Centrist. 3. We should not treat him like the Left has treated President Bush Do we want him to succeed in implementing a socialist agenda and wealth redistribution? NO Do we want him to succeed in giving the abortionists more power than they ever had? NO Do we want him to succeed in implementing an appeasement and surrender foreign policy? Today's Ted Cruz news: In his speech Wednesday to the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Cruz took aim at 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and his infamous "47 percent" quote. Romney, who of course went on to lose the general election, equated President Barack Obama's supporters with 47 percent of the country who "believe that they are victims" and "entitled" to government assistance."Where he got clobbered was 47 percent," Cruz said Wednesday. "I think Romney is a good man who had a hard campaign, but I cannot think of a statement in all of politics that I disagree with...

(VIDEO-AT-LINK) Already creating distance from the last nominee of his party, Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz took aim at Mitt Romney's infamous "47%" remark that created a firestorm of controversy during the 2012 campaign. Speaking about the Latino vote and the economy to the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Texas senator bluntly critiqued on Wednesday Romney's personal assessment that as a candidate he didn't need to worry about that part of the vote because they were government-dependent and would reelect the president in 2012. "Where he got clobbered was 47%," he said. "I think Romney is a good man...

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest responded today to Ted Cruz‘s strong pledge in his presidential announcement this morning to repeal Obamacare once he gets into office. In his list of things he asked the audience to imagine, Cruz said, “Imagine a new president signing legislation repealing every word of Obamacare.” When asked about this today, Earnest said, “There was a presidential candidate who ran in 2012 promising to repeal the Affordable Care Act, and that campaign pledge didn’t work out very well for him.”

The Obama presidency is fond of issuing apologies for America on the world stage, but very rarely makes them at home to Americans. White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer has just issued one to Washington Post columnist and Fox News contributor Charles Krauthammer, who last week wrote an op-ed berating the Obama administration for removing a bust of Sir Winston Churchill from the Oval Office when it came to power. Pfeiffer had issued a stinging attack on Krauthammer, alleging that his Churchill bust reference was “100 percent false.” Krauthammer was of course 100 percent correct, and the British Embassy in...

Most Americans haven’t forgotten the bald-faced lies the Clintons told about Bill’s affairs and molestations along with the sheer savagery of the attacks their surrogates launched against these women. For example, we all remember Bill Clinton perjuring himself by saying, “I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky.” Of course, Bill was lying which helped lead to the House voting to impeach him. The Senate attempted to follow suit and although 50 Senators voted for impeachment, they didn’t reach the 67 vote threshold needed to send Clinton home in disgrace. What you may not remember was the...
