(CNN) - A California homeowner exercised his right to bear arms -- and take pictures -- after a group of people tried to break into his home. Yan Zhang of Chino Hills was at home with his wife and children when five people tried to enter the house through a balcony in the back. Zhang grabbed his gun, told his wife to hide the kids and then went to work.

The legislature of Florida, following numerous complaints of over-zealous prosecutors, has changed the controversial 'Stand Your Ground' law. Now, instead of an individual having to prove he had the right to use force in self-defense, the prosecution now has the burden of proof that the individual DIDN'T have the right of self-defense. Going to the governor's desk, expected to be signed.

ATLANTA | Gov. Nathan Deal signed legislation Thursday allowing people with permits to carry concealed handguns on public college campuses, praising GOP leaders for making the changes he demanded when he vetoed a previous campus-carry bill last year.

Michale Bloomberg's purchased gun control groups Mom's Demand Action and Everytown promised to "confront" the National Rifle Association in Atlanta (GA) during the NRA's Annual Meetings and Exhibits. It was a less than impressive event. According to an officer providing security at the event, Mom's Demand and Everytown brought just 75-100 people to Woodruff Park to "confront" the NRA, at a venue 7/10ths of a mile away from the Annual Meetings. The twinned gun control groups appear to have attempted to pad their numbers by handing out tee shirts to the many homeless people inhabiting the park, though most...

After enduring shortages of food and medicine for years, as well as a total collapse of their currency, the people of Venezuela have had enough. Last week it was estimated that 2.5 million people marched against the Maduro regime, which had previously tried to strip away the powers of the opposition-led parliament. It’s estimated that as many as 6 million people may have taken to the streets to protest throughout the country. In the lead-up to the protest, which had been planned for weeks by opposition political parties, President Maduro issued an alarming proclamation that didn’t receive nearly enough press....

The Assembly Public Safety Committee on Tuesday rejected legislation to reform California’s strict “may-issue” concealed carry licensing practices and make permits more obtainable. The bill, AB 757, aimed to amend state law to allow a desire for self-defense to be enough required “good cause” to obtain a permit. It failed 2-5 after a party-line vote. The measure’s sponsor Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez, a Republican from Lake Elsinore, argued the legislation was needed to reign in some sheriffs and police chiefs who refuse to grant licenses for personal reasons. “Today the Democrat majority spat in the face of the Constitution by killing...

No charges will be filed against Zachary Peters, the man who shot and killed three teenaged criminals who broke into his home, an Oklahoma prosecutor declared Monday. However, the woman who acted as getaway driver for the home intruders will be charged with first-degree murder. Investigators say that the 23-year-old Peters was alone in his house near Broken Arrow in Tulsa on March 27, when he used an AR-15 rifle to shoot Jakob Woodruff, Jacob Redfearn, and Maxwell Cook. Jack Thorp, Wagoner County Assistant District Attorney told the Associated Press (AP):”It is the opinion of this office that Zachary Peters...

A man’s home is his castle, or so the saying goes. And people should be able to protect their homes - including our most precious asset, our families - against intruders without fear of a lawsuit. Some Nevada politicians are trying to change that. They think that you should be financially liable for any injuries they sustain when you defend yourself -- even in your home. Does that sound convoluted? It is. And, it’s ridiculous. If someone is invading your home, the last thing you should be thinking about is being sued if you use force to defend yourself or...

An Illinois mom behind a viral Facebook post spoke to Fox 2/News 11 Wednesday. Her son, Hunter, 4, has been suspended from his preschool for bringing a shell casing from a fired bullet to school. He'd been at the preschool for about a year, she said, and now was in tears. Neither she nor Hunter's dad knew it, but he found something he thought was pretty neat and he took it to school Tuesday to show his friends. [Snip] Well....when I was escorted to the office for a sit down. I was handed a tiny .22 empty brass casing. Not...

Jaime Pressly lost more than $30k in jewelry when burglars broke into her home over the weekend ... we've learned they also made off with a .38 caliber revolver. The gun raises the stakes in the latest celebrity break-in. The burglars, who entered by breaking a window, got the gun because they stole the safe in which it was stored. It's unclear if they knew a gun was inside. This is the second safe that was stolen by a celebrity. Nick Young also lost his safe when he was hit last month. And we've now learned why Jamie's security alarm...

Gays Against Guns, an LGTB gun violence prevention group, launched its first ad campaign Thursday against the concealed carry reciprocity proposals pending in Congress. The latest demonstration from the group, founded in the wake of the Orlando nightclub shooting last year, features 20 advertisements shot in cities across the country depicting a protester holding a sign that reads “Not in my city” or “Not in my office,” among other randomly chosen locations. A second protester stands in the background, covered in a white veil, representing a victim of gun violence, the group says. H.R. 38 and S. 446 would bring...

On a day when legislation benefiting women and black colleges and universities was signed with much pomp and circumstance, President Trump quietly followed through on his pledge to defend the Second Amendment by signing the repeal of Barack Obama’s Social Security gun ban. The U.S, House voted to repeal the ban on February 2 and the Senate voted to repeal it on February 15. The ban was fashioned behind closed doors in the summer of 2015 and Breitbart News reported: The specific details of the ban are unknown, as it is being put together “outside of public view.” But the...

Ignoring “militia,” “arms” and “shall not infringe” the court sounded more like Chief Justice Oprah Winfrey The most confusing dependent clause in the history of the nation, at least as far as personal liberty goes, is the one that begins the 2nd Amendment to the Bill of Rights. The full text of the amendment reads: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. To understand what the Founders meant it helps to understand how much the former colonists disliked a standing...

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Abby Ross never spent time around guns until a little more than a decade ago. "I grew up on Staten Island," she said. "Hunting or gun use was not part of our family traditions." Now she handles guns with ease for hunting, sport and training. And she's one of a growing number of women venturing into the world of guns, either as part of the outdoor experience or for self-defense. Women increasingly have become a profitable new target customer for gun-shop owners and firearms manufacturers.

DNC Chair candidate Kieth Ellison was caught lying again regarding his stances on the second amendment. Partial Transcript Bash: Congressman, gun control. In 2014 you told Bill Maher that you wished the Democratic Party would come out against the Second Amendment. How do you reach out to Americans who support gun rights when you don’t support the Second Amendment? Ellison: First of all, let me tell you, I remember that show very well and that is not what I said, at all. What I talked about is my grandfather’s shotgun, the fact I am a turkey hunter, and I didn’t...

Appearing at CPAC 2017, Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas (A, 97%) blasted a recent 4th Circuit Court decision upholding a Maryland “assault weapon” ban as “nuts.” Speaking with Conservative Review Editor-in-Chief Mark Levin, the Texas senator discussed a broad range of topics including term limits on members of Congress, the nomination of Judge Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, and the rogue federal judiciary. Cruz criticized the Fourth Circuit court decision limiting the individual’s Second Amendment right to own a firearm. “The Fourth Circuit used to be the most conservative court in the country,” Cruz said. “The Fourth Circuit now, they’ve invented...

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has overturned a lower-court decision that would have struck down a 10-day waiting period for certain firearm purchases. The lower-court decision would have allowed existing gun owners and people with concealed-weapons permits to immediately take possession of a lawfully purchased firearm. [Snip] 9th Circuit Judge Mary Schroeder ... said someone who already owns a hunting rifle may want to buy a larger-capacity weapon that will do more damage when fired into a crowd. "A 10-day cooling-off period would serve to discourage such conduct and would impose no serious burden on the core...
