Vice president Joe Biden has disparaged gun-rights advocates as “tea baggers,” CNN host John Walsh told reporters today. ... ‘They’re all scared sh*tless of the NRA, aren’t they?’” (said John Walsh) “‘John, every one of them,’” the vice president replied, according to Walsh. “‘Because the NRA will run a tea-bagger against you. . . . They’ll put 5 million bucks against you.’”

At least 13 people have been shot in Chicago at the start of the long holiday weekend, including a woman killed as she sat on a porch near Garfield Park and a man slain in front of a hair salon on the South Side, police said. ... The mother of the boy, Andrea Byes, said she is planning to move out of the two-flat where she lives with her children because of the violence, drug sales and loitering on the block. "I'm not surprised something like this happened," said Byes, 40. "It was a matter of time. They're all over...

As state officials across the country grapple with how to prevent mass killings like the ones at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown and near the University of California, Santa Barbara, some are turning to a gun seizure law pioneered in Connecticut 15 years ago.

There was a time in America when the first priority of our schools was educating our children. That's no longer the case. Today, schools are primarily job programs for the unions and indoctrination centers for the Left. The great teachers in our schools are now used as cover for the mediocrities, the overpaid administrators, and the blatant attempts to force feed liberalism to children before they become experienced enough to recognize all the problems associated with it. Since the Left has been losing the public battle to curtail the 2nd Amendment, liberals started fighting it in a place where they...

Tactical Firearms is appealing to the public for help fighting what it claims is a politically motivated problem with its bank. The Katy, Texas, gun store has made a national name for itself by posting snarky political signs – mostly opposing liberal gun-grabbers and Obama – on its outdoor marquee. BizPac Review has reported on several of the good-humored signs in the past, but it seems there’s not a lot to laugh about these days, according to the company’s web site and newsletter. The lengthy plea claims that the bank has called in on a loan that could put the...

A federal judge upheld gun laws on Thursday introduced by Colorado in the wake of deadly shooting rampages there and in Connecticut, dismissing a lawsuit brought by sheriffs, gun shops, outfitters and shooting ranges. The two laws, passed in 2013 by Colorado's Democratic-controlled legislature with scant Republican support, banned ammunition magazines that hold more than 15 rounds and required background checks for all private gun sales and transfers. After a two-week civil trial, U.S. District Chief Judge Marcia Krieger ruled the lawsuit lacked standing and said no evidence had been produced which showed limiting magazines to 15 rounds seriously diminished...

Here is an excerpt from a column by Susie Madrak over at CrooksandLiars.com, But Perlstein doesn’t mention the big honkin’ elephant in the room: Namely, at what point does the federal government literally go to war with its own citizens? Because we’re not talking about bank robbers here, we’re talking about (mostly) non-criminal cranks — scofflaws and political malcontents. So what line has to be crossed in the good old U.S. of A. before we start mowing them down to make our point? Because you can’t talk about the Bundy ranch without talking about Ruby Ridge, and Waco. So here’s...

I have an idea about clearing up confusion about interpreting the 2nd amendment. Suppose some state (like Texas, for example) created a group called "the militia". Anyone could join for free from any state. There would be no duties, just a database proving membership. Members would then be protected from onerous gun control laws.

President Obama just can't seem to help himself. Over and over again, he makes exaggerated or false claims about guns and crime. Last year Obama kept asserting the bogus numbers such as “40 percent of all gun purchases take place without a background check.” Besides the study being based on a tiny survey it was started before the Federal background check law went into effect. Moreover, the 40 percent figure referred to all transfers, not just sales, and the vast majority of transfers took place within families through gifts and inheritances. Then, for good measure, Obama added an extra 4...

How the NRA Rewrote the Second Amendment The Founders never intended to create an unregulated individual right to a gun. Today, millions believe they did. Here’s how it happened. By MICHAEL WALDMAN May 19, 2014 "A fraud on the American public.” That’s how former Chief Justice Warren Burger described the idea that the Second Amendment gives an unfettered individual right to a gun. When he spoke these words to PBS in 1990, the rock-ribbed conservative appointed by Richard Nixon was expressing the longtime consensus of historians and judges across the political spectrum. Twenty-five years later, Burger’s view seems as quaint...

On June 16, the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that a law-abiding citizen cannot buy a gun for another law-abiding citizen. Justice Elena Kagan wrote the majority opinion and Justice Antonin Scalia wrote the dissent.

An exasperated President Barack Obama on Tuesday expressed new surprise and dismay at the lack of congressional action on stemming gun violence, hours after yet another American community was jolted by a deadly school shooting. Without congressional support, Obama signed dozens of unilateral executive actions meant to quell gun violence. Though broad action, like banning assault weapons or high capacity magazines, still require congressional approval.

HUNTSVILLE, AL - Kevin Weil felt his two young sons needed to burn off some energy following a Sunday afternoon birthday party, so they drove downtown to the Lydia Gold Skatepark. The city-owned skateboard park on Cleveland Avenue is a favorite hangout for the Weil family, but this visit proved more memorable than all the rest. Map Data Terms of Use Map Another man was taking what Weil said were "lewd" pictures of two scantily-clad women lying on the graffiti-covered concrete. Weil, 38, said he asked the man if he thought the pictures were appropriate considering the park was filled...

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – An attempted home invasion turned into a murder investigation Tuesday morning. One suspect is dead and another is in critical condition after allegedly holding a gun to a teen’s head. St. Louis police are releasing chilling details of a late night shooting in south St. Louis that left one person dead, another injured and a neighborhood shaken up. It all went down at 11:00pm last night on Newport near Neosho in the Bevo Mill neighborhood. Investigators say it all started with a teenaged girl being confronted by two armed men in front of her home....

On June 8 The Daily Beast ran a column by Dean Obeidallah which argues gun rights opponents either need to get serious about opposing gun control or forget it. It is time to go big or go home. According to Obeidallah, going big entails lawsuits against the NRA – seeking to hold them culpable "if [a] loved one was killed by a gun obtained because of the NRA's opposition to universal background checks" – and rewriting the 2nd Amendment. Obeidallah claims the "pro-gun lobby" worked for "20-plus years" to get the Supreme Court to recognize the "then-radical notion that the...

by Gina Cassini | TopRight NewsOnce again, the anti-gun fanatics are running loose in our children's schools. And this time they are punishing a kid who did the right thing! As a mom, this one has steam coming out of my ears. First-grader Darin Simak goes to Martin Elementary in New Kensington, PA. On Wednesday he went to school just like any other day but, when he arrived, he realized there was a toy gun in his backpack. What did Darin do? Darin tried to do the right thing by immediately bringing the toy gun to his teacher and explained that “he...

We all saw this one coming. Two weeks after Elliot Roger stabbed three people and shot three more, a trio of legislators from California (including Dianne Feinstein) have proposed a new federal law called “The Pause for Safety Act” which would allow anyone at any time to seek a “firearms restraining order” against an individual to prevent them from purchasing any new firearms and also confiscate any firearms they may already own. From Barbara Boxer’s website, here are the details we have at the moment: The new legislation – The Pause for Safety Act – will include the following provisions:...
