On June 8 The Daily Beast ran a column by Dean Obeidallah which argues gun rights opponents either need to get serious about opposing gun control or forget it.
It is time to go big or go home.
According to Obeidallah, going big entails lawsuits against the NRA – seeking to hold them culpable "if [a] loved one was killed by a gun obtained because of the NRA's opposition to universal background checks" – and rewriting the 2nd Amendment.
Obeidallah claims the "pro-gun lobby" worked for "20-plus years" to get the Supreme Court to recognize the "then-radical notion that the Second Amendment bestowed a personal right to own a gun, thus making it more challenging to enact laws that restrict access to them." He wants gun rights opponents to begin working equally hard to "rewrite" the 2nd Amendment so as to undo these protections....

Add this author to “the BIG list” when CW2 starts.
And since “going big” a) isn’t going to happen, b) wouldn’t work anyway... they might as well take the good advice and all go home. And if they happen to live in a CC state, they can drive home safe in the knowledge that they probably aren’t going to be the victim of a carjacking.
It’s pretty simple to me. I’ve never knowingly committed a crime. Therefore, if they want my gun, they’ll have to kill me. Somehow, I think they’d like that.

Of course it does. Just as Barack means “to make to kneel down,” “to stoop”, and “to cower.”
Is it me or does the first sentence in the article not make sense?
The elites that want to get rid of guns and the 2nd Amendment haven’t been going big at all since they started this long, long ago. It has been a very steady but low key and piecemeal effort over the last 100+ years to legalize them out of existence.
But over the last 20+ years that effort has been stymied by Americans buying more guns, becoming members of the NRA, and the NRA (plus other gun rights organizations) waging a campaign in the courts and legislatures to take them back.
Now the elites are desperate for a last push to take their efforts over the top and get rid of them once and for all.
And counter that by showing pictures of people who were attacked by the"knock out game".
One thing they always seem to ignore is that not all gun-owners are members of the NRA, nor are they all white and republican.

not to mention that everytime I’m in a gun shop, I see women asking questions and buying their own guns.
We had 2 self-defense shootings in our small area this week. One was an escaped mental patient who broke into a house and into the bedroom, the other was a meth head with priors that tried that.

I hate to pee in his post toasties, but before the CIVIL WAR the SCOTUS declared that one of the rights free men had was “the right to go about armed wherever they went.”
It was in the Dredd Scott vs Stanford decision.
After the CIVIL WAR, the SCOTUS had to redefine the amendment to disarm blacks with Presser and Crukshank decisions.

Watch you problem man! All I showed was the SCOTUS recognized a right then decided not to recognize it!
Now they have recognized it again!
Liberals will cite that as why civilians shouldn’t have guns. The would have preferred the victims injured or dead and the perp guven a stern talking to and released.
