The government is on track to catch nearly 100,000 illegal immigrants at the border this month, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said Monday, renewing the administration’s plea for Congress to do something. That number would be the worst in more than a decade, and it’s more troubling than the worst years because the migrants are children and families who despite being unauthorized, are almost impossible to deport. “The situation at our Southern Border has gone from a crisis, to a national emergency, to a near systemwide meltdown,” Ms. Nielsen said in delivering an update on the state of her department...

A huge fireball exploded in the Earth's atmosphere in December, according to Nasa. The blast was the second largest of its kind in 30 years, and the biggest since the fireball over Chelyabinsk in Russia six years ago. But it went largely unnoticed until now because it blew up over the Bering Sea, off Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula. The space rock exploded with 10 times the energy released by the Hiroshima atomic bomb. Lindley Johnson, planetary defence officer at Nasa, told BBC News a fireball this big is only expected about two or three times every 100 years. At about noon...

Dutch security forces are hunting for a 37-year-old Turkish man suspected of having shot several people on a tram in the city of Utrecht on Monday, in what authorities said appeared to be a terrorist attack. The Mayor of Utrecht, Jan van Zanen, has since claimed that three people have been killed with nine more injured. Authorities raised the terrorism threat to its highest level in Utrecht province, schools were told to shut their doors and paramilitary police increased security at airports and other vital infrastructure, and also at mosques.

Fox News top host Tucker Carlson has been under fire by far leftists and their media allies for a string of dredged-up comments made to some shock-jock dating from before his days at Fox, with big calls for protests and advertiser boycotts. Leading the charge has been the world's premier slime machine, Media Matters, described in all its glory by Sharyl Attkisson in her book, "The Smear: How Shady Political Operatives and Fake News Control What YouSee, What You Think, and How You Vote." The Soros-bankrolled outfit has made a humongous cacaphony about Carlson, amplifying its calls for boycotts and for Fox ending...

The American operator of a controversial website has smacked down a request by New Zealand police to hand over posts and video links that appeared on the site as the Christchurch terrorist attack unfolded. In an obscenity-laden email, Kiwi Farms founder Joshua Moon dismissed the plea by Detective Senior Sergeant John Michael as “a joke”, labelling New Zealand “a small, irrelevant island nation” and “s***hole country”. Moon is a former administrator of 8chan, the online message board where Brenton Tarrant posted details of his sick plan, along with a 73-page manifesto, hours before allegedly carrying out New Zealand’s deadliest terrorist...

VIDEO The question has to be asked, especially after watching Chuck Todd interview Beto O'Rourke in Iowa for "Meet The Press." Normally Todd interviews guests while sitting behind a desk. However, during his O'Rourke interview, Todd conducted the interview on his feet raising questions as to whether he is only as tall as a Hobbit.

"Investigative reporter Luke Rosiak is being hailed as “one of the smartest, most diligent reporters in Washington” (TUCKER CARLSON) and “a bulldog” (DANA LOESCH) for uncovering “what is possibly the largest scandal and coverup in the history of the United States House of Representatives” (NEWT GINGRICH). It’s like something out of a spy novel: In the heat of the 2016 election, an unvetted Pakistani national with a proclivity for blackmail gained access to the computer files of one in five Democrats in the House of Representatives. He and his family lifted data off the House network, stole the identity of...

Since I began my first term in Congress, I have sought to speak openly and honestly about the scale of the issues our country faces — whether it is ending the crippling burden of student debt, tackling the existential threat of climate change or making sure no one in one of the richest countries in the world dies from lack of health care. As a survivor of war and a refugee, I have also sought to have an honest conversation about U.S. foreign policy, militarism and our role in the world. This question of how the United States engages in...

Reading the "Manifesto" of the Christchurch mass murderer, the first thing that strikes the reader is just how rational he is about what he expects will await him after his ghastly deed. He hoped to survive, serve a life sentence, and be released after 27 years, all the while using his time in jail to "spread his ideals by media coverage." Not unreasonably, he might have also said he would write a bestseller and become rich while in jail. All of this thanks to the fact that the death penalty in New Zealand (and all of Europe) is considered cruel and unusual punishment...

The nation is focused on foreign influence on American politics in any number of ways. The issues range from the discredited witch hunt directed at President Trump, the prosecution of Paul Manafort for failure to register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), congressional investigations into whether Russians used social media to influence elections, Chinese spyware, Representative Ilhan Omar's hostile statements about lawmakers' alleged dual loyalty to Israel, and whether green groups are acting as unregistered foreign agents to the recent announcement by the Justice Department of plans to step up FARA investigations and even the larger debate about whether...

President Trump ordered biometric ID cards for all non-immigrant work visas and is moving to dump Obama’s Executive Order expanding H-1B green cards by 466,000. Donald Trump’s first initiatives as president was issuing the "Buy American and Hire American†in April 2017 that instructed the U.S. Immigration Service to drastically restructure the job-destroying H-1B “temporary foreign worker†program. Republican President George H.W. Bush joined Democratic Senator Ted Kennedy to pass the Immigration Act of 1990 that expanded U.S. foreign worker visas, implemented family-chain-migration, and launched the H-1B “specialty occupations" visa program. The so-called “Einstein Visas†program was designed to allow...

All jihad is local, but all "Islamophobia" is global. So, if a Muslim of Afghan origin shoots up a gay nightclub in Florida and kills 49 people, that's just one crazed loner and no broader lessons can be discerned from his act. On the other hand, if a white guy shoots up two mosques in New Zealand and kills 50 people, that indicts us all, and we need to impose worldwide restraints on free speech to make sure it doesn't happen again. I'm ecumenical enough to mourn the dead in both gay clubs and mosques, but I wonder why we...

Posted on March 17, 2019March 17, 2019 by Msgr. Charles Pope The Mature Christian As a kind of follow-up to yesterday’s Gospel of the Transfiguration, we do well to reflect a little further on the Lord’s intention in leading Peter, James, and John up a high mountain. The Church teaches us His purpose in the Preface for the Second Sunday of Lent:For after he had told the disciples of his coming Death, on the holy mountain he manifested to them his glory, to show, even by the testimony of the law and the prophets, that the Passion leads to...

Every now and then, abortionists will admit publicly to the horrifying reality of what they do to unborn babies. On Sunday, Leah Torres, a Utah abortionist who is active on Twitter, responded with gruesome detail to someone criticizing her work. When someone asked Torres if she hears the screams of the babies who she aborts, she replied: “You know fetuses can’t scream, right? I transect the cord 1st so there’s really no opportunity, if they’re even far enough along to have a larynx. I won’t apologize for performing medicine. I’m also a ‘uterus ripper outer,’ if that’s how you’d like...

Fox's newest fan is a Jew-hating member of Congress. Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is extremely grateful that Fox defended her and punished Judge Jeanine Pirro for asking a legitimate question. On Saturday, Fox suddenly cancelled Pirro's highly rated weekly show "Justice with Judge Jeanine.†After "Justice" failed to appear on Fox's upcoming weekend schedule, a spokesperson for the network refused to comment on "internal scheduling matters," according to USA Today. In a statement following Judge Jeanine's opening remarks on March 9 , Fox News "strongly condemned" Pirro's comments about Muslim Rep. Omar. A Muslim Fox News associate producer, Hufsa...

“Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent.” - Ludwig Wittgenstein Titled “Shibboleth” this 2007 art installation by Doris Salcedo took the form of a 548-foot long, meandering crack in the floor of the Tate Gallery, a hairline crack at one end which expanded to a few inches of width and two feet of depth at the other. Behold the Left’s newest shibboleth: One cannot accuse a Muslim of being anti-Semitic because that defines you as Islamaphobic. And if you don’t believe me just ask poor Chelsea Clinton who was bullied into an apology for calling out Omar’s anti-Semitism....
