Calling Out Around the World

All jihad is local, but all "Islamophobia" is global. So, if a Muslim of Afghan origin shoots up a gay nightclub in Florida and kills 49 people, that's just one crazed loner and no broader lessons can be discerned from his act. On the other hand, if a white guy shoots up two mosques in New Zealand and kills 50 people, that indicts us all, and we need to impose worldwide restraints on free speech to make sure it doesn't happen again. I'm ecumenical enough to mourn the dead in both gay clubs and mosques, but I wonder why we are so conditioned to accept Islamic terror as (in the famous words of London mayor Sadiq Khan) "part and parcel of living in a big city" that it is only the exceptions to the rule that prompt industrial-scale moral preening from politicians and media.

The Christchurch killer published the usual bonkers manifesto before livestreaming his mass murder on Facebook. Brenton Tarrant purports to be an environmentalist - indeed, a self-described "eco-fascist" - who admires Communist China (notwithstanding, presumably, its indifference to environmentalism). He wants to massacre Muslims in order to save the planet:

The environment is being destroyed by over population, we Europeans are one of the groups that are not over populating the world. The invaders are the ones over populating the world. Kill the invaders, kill the overpopulation and by so doing save the environment.

Does he mean this? Or is it a giant blood-drenched leg-pull?

I'm sure everyone has noticed that lack of "Muslims fear white backlash" drumbeat after the massacre by the media, as opposed to what they say when Muslims massacre.

Because only whites have the potential to strike back, don'tcha know.

“Because only whites have the potential to strike back, don’tcha know.”

When muslims get mad, buildings and cars go ablaze. When whitey gets pissed, continents melt

Remember when Hillary Clinton’s people put the grinning father of the Pulse nightclub mass murdering shooter right behind her at a campaign rally?

Poor Chels gets no props for her mother’s islamo pandering to the extent of making Huma her second Mommy.

Wonder what the left would do if Trump invited the mosque shooter family over for a photo op?

“All jihad is local, but all “Islamophobia” is global. So, if a Muslim of Afghan origin shoots up a gay nightclub in Florida and kills 49 people, that’s just one crazed loner and no broader lessons can be discerned from his act. On the other hand, if a white guy shoots up two mosques in New Zealand and kills 50 people, that indicts us all, and we need to impose worldwide restraints on free speech to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

It is important to remember that on the proverbial scales that balance these things someone is placing their finger on them to cause them to give a false reading.

I’m not talking about some proverbial Muslim pressing down on one side of the scales: that is simply to be expected as Islam commends certain deceptions and we also have things like the OIC legally defining words not by their colloquial meaning but according to Sharia law ... so that, for instance, “terrorism” is the unjust killing of Muslims and not Muslims waging jihad.

No, instead the thumb on these proverbial scales is that of the political Left. On one level they simply let no tragedy go to waste but that alone is insufficient to explain why Islamic violence can be seen as local but violence against Muslims isn’t, as Mark writes.

I think a critical part of this is that the Left (for which nothing remains of the old extreme Left that is extreme to them anymore) has strongly brought into the ideas of collective guilt for some and collective suffering for others and that their myopia is rooted in seeing everything through the lens of imbalances of power between groups.

And as they are mindlessly focused on “the white man” as their ultimate bugaboo, that which haunts their Anxiety Closets and lurks under their beds at night, the impute to one sort of people, broadly defined by the color of their skin, power that makes them bigots, that makes the tyrants, that makes them just plain bad.

Conversely put near everyone else is a victim, is assumed to be without this power and the consequences are far reaching ... black people for instance are sometimes said to be unable to be racists because racism requires power.

When any white person doesn’t accept this premise on which so much of the Left is built we as Deplorables, even fascists.

But it isn’t just “white people” but those with the Western civilization, Christians in particular, that have this imputed power.

And so these numbskulls of the Left are able to completely ignore centuries of facts to also decide that Muslims too are victims.

It is here that the Left has their proverbial thumb on the scales of perception.

When a Muslim commits Jihad in the name of advancing Sharia the Left may see the tragedy of the death and suffering caused but since their ideology is poisoned at the root because of this Woke power-nonsense they can frequently disassociate the Jihad from Jihad.

Thus the very next day after 9/11 the media was able to find Ivy League nitwits who couldn’t bring themselves to say that the terrorists had been evil.

Why?

Well, as with racism if you are reputed to lack this special mythical power when you act out you may have justification because you lack it, and it’s always easy to find Numbskulls on the Left who cannot bring themselves to disallow that you had justification.

BUT if your group has this reputed power then whatever you do is reinforcing the boot of the white, European Christians pressing down on the necks of the poor, downtrodden rest of the world.

Thus if you’re white and some other white goes berserk YOU share in their guilt unless you are one of the really gooooood white person, who understand how bad white and European and Christian are, how privileged these facts about them make you by association, and if you evidence the correct attitudes (all ever more far Left Wing) rather that the bad attitudes (anything else).

But some Jihadi? Who knows, maybe they had some justification? Israel or Zionism or Iraq or ... anything. They aren’t Christians, they’re victims, who is to say that they weren’t just acting out on their oppression?

Global, Local ... and the Woke with their damn thumbs on the scales.

An obvious radical left position on overpopulation. Maybe he got hold of an old copy of The Population Bomb and then just took it a step further and identified a group that is reproducing at a far greater than average rate.

This mass murderer is a radical, enviro leftist.

When political dissent is outlawed, we’ll have more shoot-ups in the future.

And there’s nothing the liberal state can do to stop it.

Taking away guns and curbing the expression of ideas met with elite disapproval isn’t likely to deter those who want to horrify them.

Political correctness has become its own worst enemy.

What he’s doing is what the Left does with abortion.

He just slaughtered Muslim sacred cows left to right. Adult abortion if you like.

And the Left’s outrage is phony. Why pray tell, should Muslim life be more worthy of society’s protection than an unborn baby in the womb?

Either all human life is deserving of the right to live under the law or none are.

In his mass murder spree, Brenton Tarrant simply took the Left’s nihilism to its logical and grisly conclusion.

If the world is without God and universal moral values, this is our future.

Great job Rurudyne. As a white Christian man I am the world’s archetypal super-villain who deserves extermination, according to current “Left-think” that most modern media and advertising agencies push on the public. It’s true there are monsters of all creeds and colors but Islam IS a cancer on our ever-shrinking planet because of it’s intolerance.

Doesn’t justify shooting up a mosque of people who never hurt anyone and I hope no one follows this nut’s thinking because it does no good for anyone. Be prepared for the worst but never make the problem worse.

That attempt was looooong.

Is this better?

Mark Steyn recently described this disparity in perception among some as: “All jihad is local, but all “Islamophobia” is global.”

Now, I do not really blame the likes of the OIC *** for putting the world on notice that they use alternate legal definitions of words (words vsuch as “terrorism”) where they are defined according to Sharia rather than use the colloquial sense of such words. They are about advancing Sharia so we should simply expect them to put their thumbs on the proverbial scales of perception.

*** Organization for Islamic Cooperation, the largest intergovernmental organization after the UN.

Where I’ve umbrage is over those who put their thumbs on the same side of the scales as well but for reasons entirely unrelated to Islam or Sharia. One bunch that does this, and which can often play a larger role in reporting in the West than the OIC for being an inside group rather than an outside group are those who have accepted the ideas on which things like being Woke are based and which see much through the lens of some reputed imbalance of power between “the whites” or “European civilization” or even “Christians” (note: culturally influenced by Christianity is enough) which are assumed to have this mythic power and thus are the oppressors and put near everyone else that is assumed to not have this attribute and are therefore are the oppressed.

In the service of an idea like this it has really been quite easy for folks to ignore centuries worth of facts about Islam and see them too as victims. Being a victim can give one an excuse in the eyes of such people if someone ever acts up. Thus we found, on the next day after 9/11, Ivy League nitwits who couldn’t bring themselves to describe what the terrorists had done as evil.

But on the other side of the coin anything that is done by anyone in a group that is reputed to have this mythic power is seen as validation of the whole proposition of that group as oppressors. The only escape for someone in such a group is to parrot correct thinking, and then they can pat themselves on the back that they aren’t the bad people.

So the same folks who can even go so far as to separate the Jihad from the Jihadi can have little difficulty using others to smear whole swaths of the population just because they have some tenuous and entirely involuntary association because of their race, ethnicity or their culture.
