SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Google wants to know where you go so badly that it records your movements even when you explicitly tell it not to. An Associated Press investigation found that many Google services on Android devices and iPhones store your location data even if you’ve used privacy settings that say they will prevent it from doing so. Computer-science researchers at Princeton confirmed these findings at the AP’s request.

When even Rolling Stone thinks you are doing too many drugs that means you are probably named Tom Arnold. When not noting Arnold's drug intake, Rolling Stone writer Brian Hiatt in his August 12 profile expressed skepticism of his credibility, especially in regards to the Trump tapes that he is supposedly hunting down but which never seem to materialize. Hiatt cast aspersions upon Arnold's confused veracity right from the first paragraph of "Who’s Afraid of Tom Arnold?"

A federal judge in Washington has rejected an effort a Russian company to dismiss charges brought by Special Counsel Robert Mueller in his investigation into Russian interference in the election. U.S. District Court Judge Dabney Friedrich, who was appointed by President Trump, on Monday denied the motion by Concord Management and Consulting LLC to dismiss the indictment on the grounds that Mueller was appointed unlawfully by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who is overseeing the Russia investigation. The company -- which has ties to Yevgeniy Viktorovich Prigozhin, a Russian businessman better known as “Putin’s chef” because of his ties to...

When Chicago issued half a billion dollars in new bonds late last year, some investors balked, though the offering was designed to protect them by guaranteeing that they would be paid with tax revenues that Illinois sends to its biggest city. “It’s an untested model,” the research head at Gurtin, a municipal bond firm, said of the offering—Chicago’s first under a new state law. Ominously, he worried that if Chicago defaults, it was unclear how much protection holders of the new debt would really get. Even as Chicago grapples with nightmarish violent crime, the city faces imposing fiscal challenges. The...

A lifelong Republican and former aide during the Kenneth Starr investigation into President Clinton said he will be voting for a Democrat in a federal election for the first time in his life. Paul Rosenzweig told CNN’s Matt Berman on Monday that his decision comes after the Republican Party's “abdication of responsibility.” “The Republican Party, seems to me, to no longer deserve my support or frankly the support of anybody who thinks that the legislative branch should act as a check and balance against executive authoritarianism,” Rosenzweig said. Rosenzweig cited a tape which surfaced of Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), chairman...

[SNIP] Let’s compare the jobs numbers for Trump’s first 19 months in office with those of Obama’s last 19 months in the White House: * Employment Ratio: +0.73 percentage points, more than twice Obama’s +0.35 * Labor Force Participation: +0.22 percentage point vs. Obama’s -0.16 * FTE jobs: +4.1 million vs. +3.3 million under Obama * Average weekly wages: +$40.55 vs. +$31.21 under Obama The reason that the labor market is finally tightening is that Trump’s tax and regulatory policies are bringing real GDP (RGDP) growth back to levels that are historically normal for the U.S. Despite the Great Depression,...

ALBANY — Expressing frustration that urban issues are not being sufficiently addressed in New York, members of the hip hop community are looking to form their own party line for the coming state elections. The line, which would be called the New American Party, is being pushed by Jineea Butler, founder of the Hip Hop Union and a Republican congressional candidate against Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-Manhattan). Butler said she and others have spoken to rap star Busta Rhymes about potentially running for governor on the line, but he has not committed. Butler said she also has reached out to LL...

Last week the smug media decided it should join together to destroy America. They are frightened; and for good reason. Our declared enemies actually thought it was necessary to openly declare war on President Donald Trump as if they had not already done so already. This brought to mind their earlier statement on lying to defeat Donald Trump. On August 7, 2016 the New York Times declared that since Trump was such a "clear and present danger," journalists would have to temporarily put aside their duty to be “fair and balanced,” in order to defeat Trump. Yes, they really said...

Chinese state-owned firm winning contracts to print foreign currencies as country seeks to expand global reach and influence China is printing foreign currencies on a massive scale as Beijing seeks to increase its influence on the world economy and geopolitics. Multiple sources in the China Banknote Printing and Minting Corporation confirmed to the South China Morning Post last month that money production plants across the country were running at near full capacity to meet an unusually high quota set by the government this year. Most of the demand comes from participants in the “Belt and Road Initiative” and one source,...

The Trump administration is taking aim at a law designed to protect military service members from getting cheated by shady lending practices. NPR has obtained documents that show the White House is proposing changes that critics say would leave service members vulnerable to getting ripped off when they buy cars. Separately, the administration is taking broader steps to roll back enforcement of the Military Lending Act. The MLA is supposed to protect service members from predatory loans and financial products. But the White House appears willing to change the rules in a way that critics say would take away some...

Omarosa Manigault Newman, the once-loyal aide to President Trump who has written a new tell-all book containing explosive allegations about her former boss, said Monday that she believes Trump was lying when he claimed in a phone call last December that he knew nothing about her dismissal by White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly. In a combative appearance on NBC's "Today" show, Manigault Newman shared an audio recording of the phone conversation that she says she had with Trump the day after she was fired from his administration. She also denounced the White House's handling of her firing,...

The United Nations high commissioner for human rights said President Trump is “close” to inciting violence against journalists with his constant anti-press rhetoric. Zeid Ra’ad al-Hussein, a Jordanian prince and diplomat, told The Guardian on Monday warned that Trump's criticism could lead journalists to censor themselves, or to attacks on them. “We began to see a campaign against the media … that could have potentially, and still can, set in motion a chain of events which could quite easily lead to harm being inflicted on journalists just going about their work and potentially some self-censorship,” Zeid said. “And in that...

The American Left is stoking hatred and it’s tearing us apart. Our media is guilty of not only of failing to shame those responsible, in many cases they egg them on, giving them a platform. The volume of irrational hatred spewing into our ether is extremely unhealthy, even dangerous for our republic and the broader American culture.

This is exclusive, and heart breaking for me and for the family and friends of the great Aretha Franklin. She is gravely ill in Detroit. The family is asking for prayers and privacy. Originally diagnosed with cancer in 2010, Aretha, who turned 76 in March, bravely battled back and refused to be knocked out by illness. Her last performance as on November 2, 2017 for the Elton John AIDS Foundation in New York. Her final public performance was at Philadelphia’s Mann Center in August 2017. It was a miraculous show as Aretha was already then fighting exhaustion and dehydration. Aretha...

South and North Korea agreed on Monday to hold a third summit meeting between their leaders in Pyongyang in September, after the two met for high-level talks on the north side of the demilitarised zone (DMZ). Next month’s meeting comes amid faltering progress in efforts to denuclearise the Korean peninsula, following two inter-Korean meetings and a June summit in Singapore between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and US president Donald Trump. South Korean unification minister Cho Myoung-gyon met Ri Son-gwon, chairman of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Country, at the truce village of Panmunjom. The leaders did...
