ISTANBUL (Reuters) - The U.S. Embassy in Ankara has not put out a statement regarding pastor Andrew Brunson, an embassy official told Reuters on Monday, after a report on social media cited the embassy as saying he would be released from house arrest by Aug. 15.

Hey, Erdogan! Those thumb screws starting to hurt?
Someone is crashing their currency. Erdogan is an idiot if he thinks this will end well. Just not sure how bad it will get. Currency lost 38% vs. the US Dollar just this month.
Erdogan has made it clear that he does not like “priests” of any sort.

Hi.
We have the embassy in Ankara and a consulate in Istanbul (Constantinople).
Unless things have changed substantially since I was there (78-79), there are about 20 enlisted/NCO Marines and two officers.
There are a few Army AF and Coast Guard.
Bunch of spooks too.

Everybody has found an alternative and is pulling out, ever since the 2016 coup.
Erdogan has worn out his stick - now the sticks are in others’ hands.
New reality, new leverage equation.

There was a stampede out of the Lira after that.
Spooks in Istanbul? Golly ... seems very surprising ... :)
Oh, wait...
