Venezuela's electoral council says President Nicolas Maduro has won re-election, in a vote marred by an opposition boycott and claims of foul play. Early reports said turnout for the vote was unusually low-about 46% of the electorate. The main opposition candidate, Henri Falcon, rejected the result soon after the polls closed, calling it invalid....... Government officials said the polls were "free and fair" but most of the opposition boycotted the vote. The administration of the US President Donald Trump has said it will not recognize the results of the election. Posting on Twitter ahead of the vote, the US mission...

On December 29, 2016, the Obama Administration – with three weeks remaining in its term – issued harsh sanctions against Russia over supposed election interference. Two compounds in the United States were closed and 35 Russian diplomats were ordered to leave the country. Russia responded by calling the actions “Cold War déjà vu.” In the two years that have elapsed since, it has been learned that the “intelligence” that formed the basis for the sanctions was beyond dubious. A single unverified “dossier” compiled by an ex-British spy with no discernable connections to Russia was shopped to FISA judges and the...

An hour or two ago, President Trump announced that he is ordering the Department of Justice to investigate the FBI/CIA cabal against him: This should be the first of several orders to DOJ and the FBI. Trump should also order them to respond fully to all requests for information and documents that have been submitted by Congress, and he should fire (or have the Attorney General fire) anyone responsible for such responses who does not act within 30 days. I guess we will find out, now, whether the President runs the Department of Justice, as the Constitution provides, or whether...

(Nigel Farage at :52)"...... but other things are going on and there's a, I really think very big story out there and you'd struggle if you went through today's newspapers to really find it, the 'Sunday Times' has done more on it than anybody else, but it's what's going on in Italy. Often we get the impression in this country from those that wish us to remain in the European Union and would like to force a second referendum on us that we're the ones with the problem that everything in Brussels and across the EU is hunky dory. Well...

A viral social media post by New York-based media personality Shaun King sparked an internal investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety in Ellis County on Sunday. The post claimed a DPS trooper sexually assaulted a female who was arrested at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday for allegedly driving while intoxicated. It also stated the officer told the female he would shoot her fiancé and claim he was armed. However, the Texas DPS refutes the allegations. “Upon learning of the allegations today, the department immediately took action to review the dash cam video,” stated Lonny Haschel, Texas DPS staff lieutenant,...

Four years ago, the Observer published my first article entitled All the President’s Muses. It was triggered by this picture, taken in the White House after the Benghazi murders. My concern was that President Barack Obama surrounded himself with former federal prosecutors who would do anything to win. . . . And, here they are again. This triumvirate of cover-up experts is central to the Obama White House arm of the conspiracy to surveil the Trump campaign, the phony FISA warrant, “unmaskings” of Americans in the Trump campaign and denials of information to the incoming president of the United States....

Katelyn Self, a deputy with the Gaston County Sheriff's Office, was killed at the Surf and Turf Lodge in Bessemer City, officials announced at a news conference Sunday afternoon. The second woman who died was identified by Fox 46 as Amanda Self. Investigators said that 62-year-old Roger Self, Katelyn Self's father, and reportedly Amanda Self's father-in-law, drove right into the restaurant -- apparently on purpose. The Gaston Gazette reported that restaurant staff claimed Roger Self went with his family to the restaurant and had them seated. The father then allegedly went outside and purposely drove his Jeep into the building.

As things now stand, Mueller has not made, or even attempted to make, a record to explain why he would be justified in invoking the power of the judiciary to compel the president to show up before a grand jury—without a lawyer—and answer whatever questions Mueller and his army of prosecutors may put to him. Two Supreme Court decisions have been cited by some commentators as precedents authorizing compulsive judicial authority to force a president to testify before a grand jury. But neither case goes nearly that far. Indeed, both decisions are explicitly limited to the unique circumstances that gave...

Jewish-American historian Bernard Lewis, one of the most famous and influential Middle East scholars in the world who warned of a "clash of civilizations" between Islam and the West, died Saturday at the age of 101 in New Jersey. Lewis was a consultant to both Israeli leaders and two U.S. presidents. Generations of students, intelligence personnel and diplomats learned about the history of Islam through his writings. His research, which dealt with the history of the Middle East, brought him fame, but also many critics and enemies around the world. One of his strongest critics was the Palestinian-born intellectual Edward...

A tiny satellite on its way to Mars has opened its eyes and captured a view of home. One of NASA's two Mars Cube One (MarCO) cubesats, which launched toward the Red Planet along with the agency's InSight lander on May 5, took a photo on May 9 to help confirm that its high-gain antenna had deployed properly. The antenna is in the photo. And so are the moon and Earth, the latter of which appears as a pale blue dot, just as it did in a famous photo taken by NASA's Voyager 1 probe in 1990. ..." I have pending cataract surgery in a days time. Being told to pay an extra $1000 for a toric lense to correct 1.19 astigmatism. No insurance or benefit will cover as this can be accomplished with normal glasses. I don't think I will tell the difference, because when we use $1 readers and I have done so for 20 years, there is no astigmatism correction present. My eye exams going back years show me at a 1.00 astig. level for years and years. So why bother at this level 1.19 of concern ? Any freepers please comment. Really want to...

California State Senator Kevin de Leon introduced himself to the DASB Senate on Wednesday, April 18. He formerly served as President pro tempore of the California State Senate, and is running to unseat incumbent U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein in the 2018 election. De Leon expressed his support for protecting undocumented immigrants and making college free. After Attorney General Jeff Sessions said he was going to deport 11 million criminal violent felons, de Leon said he decided to author Senate Bill No. 54, also known as the California “Sanctuary State” Bill. He called Sessions’ comment “fake news,” and said Sessions was...

Italy's President is expected to confirm a coalition between the League and the Five-Star Movement (M5S) today, cementing the nation as having one of the most Eurosceptic governments on the continent. Sergio Mattarella will be asked to approve the formation of the coalition government today-the two parties have been in talks since March's election......... Luigi Di Maio, the leader of the Five Star Movement, sent a stern message to the EU yesterday by insisting that he will attempt to renegotiate EU rules as part of an effort to put Italians first.....

Las Vegas introduced Americans to the rapid-fire lethality of bump stocks. Parkland reminded the public how quickly someone can inflict mass carnage with an AR-15, the weapon of choice in many rampages. But Friday's shooting at Santa Fe High School, which left 10 dead, was carried out with a pistol and a shotgun - firearms that even gun-control advocates generally regard as utilitarian. The reality that weapons not included in proposed assault-rifle bans can still exact a double-digit death toll further complicates a wrenching national debate about how to prevent future tragedies. "That's true" that weapons other than assault rifles...

he “deep state” is in a deep state of desperation. With little time left before the Justice Department inspector general’s report becomes public, and with special counsel Robert Mueller having failed to bring down Donald Trump after a year of trying, they know a reckoning is coming. At this point, there is little doubt that the highest echelons of the FBI and the Justice Department broke their own rules to end the Hillary Clinton “matter” — but we can expect the inspector general to document what was done or, more pointedly, not done. It is hard to see how a...

Today......... President Trump went after the Podesta brothers, Crooked Hillary and the corrupt Deep State and Mueller team. President Donald Trump: If the FBI or DOJ was infiltrating a campaign for the benefit of another campaign, that is a really big deal. Only the release or review of documents that the House Intelligence Committee (also, Senate Judiciary) is asking for can give the conclusive answers. Drain the Swamp! Things are really getting ridiculous. The Failing and Crooked (but not as Crooked as Hillary Clinton) @nytimes has done a long & boring story indicating that the World’s most expensive Witch Hunt...

Meghan Markle’s nephew was nabbed trying to bring a knife into a London nightclub hours after her royal wedding, according to a new report. Markle kin Tyler Dooley, 25, said he was carrying the blade because Donald Trump said the British capital city wasn’t safe, The Sun said. “I have a knife on me,” the US cannabis farmer allegedly said. He then fumbled for an explanation about why he had it. “He was going on about was how he’d brought it from America because Donald Trump had said London wasn’t safe,” according to a witness. Security staff, meanwhile, called the...

Walt Disney’s Avengers: Infinity War earned another $28.7 million (-53%) on its fourth weekend, bringing its 24-day domestic total to $595m. The MCU epic should cross the $600m domestic milestone sometime this week, perhaps as early as Wednesday. That would be its 27th day of release, still right between The Force Awakens (12 days) and Black Panther (31 days). Speaking of which, its fourth weekend was just barely above Black Panther’s $26m fifth weekend. So, yes, Avengers: Infinity War’s domestic total will eventually start trailing Black Panther’s. At this juncture, it’s still looking like Infinity War will end its domestic...
