Vice President Pence arrived in Aspen, Colo., this week for a holiday vacation — but not without encountering a silent protest from his neighbors in the liberal ski resort town. “Make America Gay Again,” reads a rainbow banner posted on the stone pillar at the end of the driveway of the home where Pence and his wife, Karen, are staying. A dispatcher with the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office referred The Washington Post to the White House press office Saturday, but Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Buglione told the Aspen Times that Pence’s next-door neighbors posted the banner shortly after the vice president...

Another year of war, and descriptions of the naval battles in the War of 1812. And a reuse of some of the 1812 New Years verse, as well as the appearance of the unusual, and now famous, Matter-Clatter rhyme from the Christmas poem. There's also an awakened narrator, but this time to work, not to be part of a nightmare. Pray may I ask what was the matter When you all rais'd such noisy clatter,

A German police union boss has criticized organizers of Berlin’s annual open-air New Year’s Eve party for designating a special “safety area” for women, saying it suggests they aren’t safe from assault elsewhere. The comments by Rainer Wendt, who heads the right-leaning DpolG union, come amid an ongoing debate in Germany about how to tackle an increase in sexual assaults. Wendt told the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung daily in an interview published Saturday that establishing such a safe zone sends a “devastating message.” “By doing so, one is saying there are safe zones and unsafe zones” for women that could result...

A Planned Parenthood clinic in Iowa that has performed abortions for nearly two decades has closed after the state diverted taxpayer funds to community health centers that do not perform abortions. Planned Parenthood ✔ @PPHeartland After 18 years of compassionate care, our Quad Cities health center will officially close on Friday - a move directly resulting from defunding by extreme Iowa lawmakers. Who Were the Magi? Msgr. Charles Pope • December 28, 2017 • The Gospel of Matthew says, After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem (Mat 2:1). Matthew uses the Greek term μάγοι, (magoi) and notes simply that they came from the east.Exactly what “Magi” are is debated. The Greeks of antiquity (ca. 450 B.C.) used the term to refer to a priestly class of men among the Medes and later the Persians, but in later centuries it was used in a wider sense; it came...

Here's my take on some of those who left us these last twelve months. It's not a comprehensive list: "People die non-stop," as the late Diana Mosley used to say to me with a sigh, and that's very true. My first farewell of 2017 was actually for a lady who took her leave at the end of 2016, collapsing while planning her daughter's funeral:Like the MGM memorabilia all around her, she stayed old Hollywood. 'Don't I look great?' she'd say. And she did, until the end. She worked hard at it, harder than her daughter did. She worked harder at...

Let us spend some productive time actually thinking about the processes of how to eliminate the entrenched tentacles of the corrupt deep state, specifically surrounding the politicization of the FBI and Dept of Justice, with a reasonable amount of intellectual honesty toward the scale of the endeavor. It is entirely understandable that people are frustrated because the administrative agents within the Deep State apparatus appear to operate in a system, of their creation, that allows them to operate above the rule of law. Righteous voices rising up in frustration demanding action; wholesale destruction of those usurping agents with extreme prejudice....

IRAN may be the brink of a “revolution” amid violent clashes between riot police and protestors, an opposition group in exile has claimed. Tear gas, water cannons and riot cops armed with clubs have been deployed today to streets of the Iranian capital as thousands of protests took to the streets. Protests over unemployment and food prices quickly spiralled into widespread calls for the collapse of the ruling Islamic regime. Videos and pictures erupted on social media from the tightly controlled state showing protests and violence amid chants of “death to the dictator”. And now the People’s Mojahedin Organization of...

Something that never interferes with the climate change indoctrinators is facts. Since we are getting record cold, that is also caused by climate change and global warming, and that is caused by humans, according to these so-called "experts." From an article that made its way to USA Today: This week's cold snap has brought record-low temperatures, freezing rain and heavy snow to much of the United States. But 2017 is still on track to be the second- or third-hottest year ever recorded globally – and scientists say climate change is to blame[.] ... Even this week's cold weather is probably...

Jerry's Real Legacy Pardonne moi, Governor Jerry Brown, but California is a cesspool and you are giving absolution to criminals. Brown’s smug ‘burn it down and leave’ attitude, together with all of the left, is based on the self-righteous belief that more than half of the country does not know what’s good for them—and liberals and leftists do. They hate us for not aspiring to their glamorous and important lives, and then feel compelled to tell us how to live.

Questions have been swirling around why hedge-fund tycoon and Democrat mega-donor Tom Steyer didn’t disclose his role in a controversial campaign to get state and local governments to file climate change lawsuits against energy companies. Steyer’s super PAC, NextGen Climate Action distanced itself from the strategy, telling Politico’s Morning Energy in September†“We’re definitely not pushing this thing.†The theory is that energy companies including ExxonMobil, Shell and Chevron misled the public about climate change, just as tobacco companies lied about the effects of smoking, and should therefore be forced to pay costs for decades to come. For instance, they...
